Michael: Hi there. I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're going to take a quick look at this Gooseneck to Fifth Wheel Trailer Coupler Adapter. This is going to allow you to convert your gooseneck trailer to a fifth wheel kingpin adapter so that you can pull it with your fifth wheel hitch.This is a inner tube and outer tube assembly so it's probably not going to be necessary for everybody. We do sell the inner tubes separately. If you already have a outer tube assembly that's going to fit, you probably don't need this whole assembly.
This is mostly for people whose outer tube has already been damaged. They're wanting to switch it out. Or if the inner tube that we have on our site are not going to fit for you, this is a weld-on application so you will need to weld it in place. It's going to be very permanent for you. It's not something that you can switch out, off and on, depending on which hitch you're connecting to.
A big step, but this is going to be a really nice option for you if you are wanting to convert your gooseneck trailer to a fifth wheel permanently.This is a square tube. You can see our inner tube dimensions here. We're at right about. Turn this for you. Right at four inches for our inner tube and our outer tube, right about four and a half inches.
Our outer tube length is the standard 20 inches and we are going to have the industry standard kingpin on the bottom there, so it should work with all fifth wheel trailer hitches. This is a really nice sturdy steel construction so it's going to hold up well. It's got a weight capacity of 30,000 pounds and it is a raw finish so it should be very easy to get welded in place for you. You don't have to worry about grinding off paint or anything like that.And it is adjustable, the height here. You can see we've got a pin.
This will allow us to adjust the height. We've got four different height holes here, so we can adjust up to eight inches. And each hole is right about two and three-quarters of an inch separated from center to center, so that'll give you nice little increments that you can adjust to make sure that your trailer height is going to line up with your hitch height. Very easy to change, just pull out that pin, slide it in place. And then you got the clip here that goes on the other side to make sure that that pin doesn't wiggle free.We also have two set bolts here that will tighten down once we have the height where we need it so that will always be there. You won't get that rattling around. It'll be nice and tight for you. This does meet the SAE J2738 standards. You can trust it's going to hold up well, do a good job for you. You can see we've got the reinforced gussets here to make sure that we're going to have a nice, strong connection to our hitch so that we can pull that trailer along with us.The pin and the pin holes are seven-eighths of an inch, so should be very easy to get everything set up the way you need it if you are wanting to convert that gooseneck trailer to be pulled with a fifth wheel hitch.We do have other options here at etrailer.com. I have a 3 car wedge trailer that I used every day. I had a lot of rocking with the gooseneck so I switched to this 5th wheel adapter. It definitely made a difference in stability. I’ve had no problems with it at all.

Works good fit the trailer I bought to replace the 2-5/16 hitch that was on it. I only use king pins on my farm.
Very rugged construction, gave me several options to adapt to my trailer. I had to modify it to fit my particular application but I have been using this trailer for a year and have had zero problems with the assembly. Approximately 30K miles on a trailer loaded to 26K lbs full time.
It's beefy, which is what I wanted.
Though I have to complain about the packaging.
It arrived in an enormous box, 5 times the size of the Hitch.
While there little chance of damaging this chunk of iron in shipping, one would want to believe the box would be commensurate with the actual size of the product. Too much waste in packaging/shipping, driving the price up.
