Note: This fifth-wheel trailer hitch is not compatible with rotating pin boxes, such as the Reese Sidewinder, Reese Revolution, and 5th Airborne Sidewinder.
Unlike slide-bar models, the rounded, two-piece jaw on this fifth-wheel trailer hitch inhibits rattle and movement by securely wrapping around your trailer's king pin, resulting in easier hookup and a safer, quieter ride.
Get peace of mind with Curt's color-coded lock indicator. Just look at the indicator - either the one on the handle or the one on the hitch itself - to determine whether the jaw is in the correct position to uncouple (red), couple (yellow) or tow (green).
Curt's unique spherical axial bearing provides a durable pivot point that allows easy, 360-degree movement of the hitch head. This ball joint is designed for smooth, quiet operation with less clunking and chucking.

What's up, everybody It's A.J. with etrailer.com Today, we're gonna be checking out the Curt Q20 5th wheel hitch assembly. And today we're putting it on the Curt adapter for the above-bed puck system that comes OEM with this 2022 Ram 2500. Right away we wanna point out that we are in a shorter six foot bed on this Ram. So this would really only work with a longer bed and eight for one just because of it's a static hitch, it's not gonna move around. So it would work with a slider.
You can get it in a kit with that if that's something you need but it will not work with the sidewinder style King Pin. So just keep that in mind. I think this will work great for the eight foot bed. Now today the way we have this set up is since our Ram has the factory under bed puck system, as we use the adapter from Curt and that's gonna go into those pucks and allow you to attach the fifth wheel legs to the adapter itself. That way it's above bed and you can still use this if you already had this assembly.
You just need to get the adapter to use it in your new truck with the pucks. Let's look at how it connects. It's got a two jaw system, which is better than just the one jaw system. Which that usually works but this gives you a complete coverage of the kingpin so you know it's secure in there. It's really easy operate.
We've got the handle here. I'll pull the pin. Pull this back. Even has an indicator on this side that lets you know. So it's green, so it means it's good to tow right now because it would be connected if we had something in there.
So come here, pull the side. We are in red, so that means it's uncoupled and then yellow would be it's coupled. It's ready to go. So when it's in yellow now we back up to the King Pin, it would activate these jaws. I'm gonna show you how the jaws work. This is gonna be a King Pin insert. So we're backing up to the trailer on the King Pin. It gets lined up with the two jaws. Once it hits the jaws and pushes back, they go into place. So that brings the handle in. So now the indicator's gonna be green for ready to tow. You wanna make sure you latch it back just for extra security and then you're ready to hit the road. As far as security goes, you don't have to just use this pin. It's nice as this is included, but sold separately, you can get a padlock run through there and lock this up. That way no one can unlatch this and mess with this when you're not around. When you go to set it up or back it up to your trailer, the head does pivot back and forth so that's gonna help you adjust. If it's slightly off and you're coming in and you don't have to worry about it straight on, it will adjust to you backing in. So I'll show you kind of here. I'll pull it an angle. You might not be able to see much but also pull it in to the side. It still adjusted just fine. You can see it pivots back and forth and can go front and back. So it will adjust as you back that King Pin in. You also get this plate that acts as a barrier on your King Pin. So you put it all the way on there on the bottom and that's gonna protect it against metal on metal contact. So instead it'll hit that plate as it comes in here. Which is gonna keep from scraping everything up. There's also gonna be three points to help add grease to it to keep it moving easily. So there's gonna be one up right on front. There's gonna be on the left side and there's gonna be one on the right side. Another nice thing about this is you can detach the head from the base, which is gonna not only make it lighter but easier to install or remove. So I'm gonna pull the clips on the inside and show you the two pin system. There's one on this side. So you have one on the opposite side. Then you're gonna lift and remove the head out. Now it does resist a little bit, so you will have to pull up. And as I shake it back and forth, it slowly starts to come out. And I can remove that, set it aside, and then remove the base separately. The Q20 is gonna have a gross total weight rating of 20,000 pounds. It's gonna have a vertical load limit of 5,000 pounds. And this does weigh 139 pounds. So if you need help with it, get some help loading into the truck and set in the place. Now you can disassemble it, remove the head to make it a little bit lighter and easier for one person. Installing is really easy. We just drop it off the adapter, line up the tabs with the holes, and it goes right in the place. We'll go underneath and add in our pin and clips. Overall, I think this is a good fifth wheel hitch. Now if you have the eight foot bed, it's gonna be better. Don't recommend it for the six foot bed just because of how limited it is. But the jaws going right around the King Pin, really nice. It's all the way around there. It's gonna take up some of that rattling. The way it adjusts when you back up into it is gonna be really easy to do as well. The handle was easy to pull out. It had the color code here on the side so if you did have a backup camera here or you could see it in the mirror, you could see that it was green and good to go and you're good to tow. Well, I think that does it. Thanks for hanging out and I hope this helped..

Heavy-duty fifth-wheel trailer hitch has a dual jaw and color-coded lock indicator for superb safety and security. Self-aligning, pivoting head and included lube plate make hookup a snap. Rails and installation kit included.Well your shipping is very poor, sent you photos of the container, the item was scratch and hopefully not dropped, will get installed and see if it works. Customer service was 5 star. But shipping something that heavyvin a card board box was crazy.
Product was an exact fit for my 2016 F350 (I have Dual wheels but the kit fits both SW and DRW to my understanding.) I've paid up to $400 labor to have rails mounted in 3 previous trucks. This kit and the videos made me sure that I could do it myself, and I was right. Take your time, measure twice before drilling, and save some money. It took me about 4 hours, but only because I was being extremely cautious with a brand new vehicle. I did learn that the person that installed my previous hitch didn't follow directions as they put the spacers on the top of the bed instead of between the bed and the mounting plates in my previous truck. Getting the spacers in was the tricky part (and probably why the last installer I used didn't do it right). After seeing several other rail installations...I am much more comfortable with the way these mount to a solid rail bracket that is definitely secured better to the frame using heavy duty hardware and no drilling. Great product!
Only thing it was missing was the bolts nuts washer lock washers and the pins for the fifth wheel where I couldn’t put the legs on it everything else was good good fifth wheel.
I bought a new trailer recently that weighs 16k and I just didn't feel secure using my Reese pro series 16k to Haul with. So I started looking at various hitches. I've had 3 other fifth wheel hitches in the past. All of them have been 15 and 16k models. What I never liked was the latching system. I've even had a trailer come out of the hitch due to a poor latching hook up. There wasn't an good way to lock the hitch. Some of it was my fault and some was a poor design. When I saw the Curt Q20 had a latch on the handle and also was color coded I was hooked. This hitch satisfied my want list. It arrived 4 days after I ordered it and like other comments I've read it was full of heavy duty staples. It was double packaged. There had to be over 50 staples. It was defiantly packaged securely. After dimantaling the packing I finally got to the hitch. There were a few scratches on the hitch from all the staples but a bit of black touch up paint took care of that. After all the hitch is going to be used and get scrached by me anyways. Four bolts and it was together. It fit perfictly it my existing rails. By the way it's heavier than my other hitches. I wound be apprehensive to pull my new trailer. If your looking for a great hitch at a great price you can't go wrong.
Unlike other reviews...I will say that my packages all arrived in perfect condition. (Boxes were all intact). Assembling the Q20 is a breeze and by all appearances this hitch certainly seems to be more than adequate for my needs. I haven't had a chance to actually use it yet...but from what I can tell, I certainly don't expect any issues. I like the way the hitch latches and unlatches, and that you can add a lock to prevent someone from opening the jaws while you are parked somewhere. I think the only thing I'll add is a lock in place of one of the pins...just to make it difficult for someone to remove and steal the hitch.
I have just used the hitch on some very short pulls, nothing long yet. However, I can tell it is much quitter and does not seem to chuck as much as my old hitch. Appears to be very well built. Heavier than the old 15K hitch I had before. The only down I can find right now is that there is not a good place to hook up the emergency stop brake cable. I was able to rig up a connector that works just fine.
This product has worked perfect for me using with my 2012 Wildcat Sterling 5th wheel. Customer service is the best at etrailer.com. Just love doing business with them!
The kit fit extremely well. With my wife and I doing the install it took about 3 hours but 2 hours were trying to reach a dropped bolt!!! Dropped one of the frame bolts inbetween the frame and the DPF tank. Other than that the install was fairly straight forward. Just went out and looked at the brackets and after a year still no rust on them. Definately would buy this again if needed.
2012 Ford F-250 - Fast shipping and easy to follow directions were included. Bed rails and side plates lined up perfectly. My truck has the line x bedliner so I added 1/8” when setting the first rail. I highly recommend using a step bit to drill your holes for the rails in the bed. No drilling was required for the side plates into the frame. Install by myself took 4 hours with no lift. Could definitely be completed faster with an extra hand or lift. Measure several times and drill once and everything will line up great. Highly recommend!
Arrived in the time identified, and all materials included. Box was damaged during shipping but packaged well enough that no damage occurred. Installed and got me out a jam caused by a height issue with original hitch installed by dealer causing the trailer to ride nose high. Leveled out and still maintaining the proper clearance between the bed and trailer.
Couldn't give it anymore stars after I took the hitch out of the box and it was all scratched up. Always good when you spend xxx on a hitch to receive it in that condition
Great hitch. Used several times. Love the way it comes apart into two pieces for ease of carrying when taking it out and putting it back in. Locks the trailer in tight too. Gets my trailer to were I want to with no problems.
Got my 5th wheel double boxed and in good shape. Took 2hrs to install outboard base rail kit. Everything finger tight. This Morning it took me 2hrs to drill the 4 center holes, I put 2 in the center on each rail, remove spare tire and torque everything down and replace spare tire.
The outboard base rail kit was a snap to install and I love the Curt Q20 with no floppy 5th wheel plate.
GREAT product, GREAT price, GREAT folks to deal with! Installed easily, followed the online video and everything went together perfectly. I did move my gas tank vent line on the left side as I was afraid the center bolt head would rub a hole in it but not a big deal.
Etrailer is terrific!
Box arrived damaged bolts and hardware falling out of holes in box very displeased this is the second time this has happened
Is difficult to get the jaws to lock- sometimes have to manually push one jaw to get it to spring closed. Any idea why?
I placed my order on Tuesday evening and it arrived early Friday. Very fast shipping!!! The hitch installed easily using etrailer custom rail kit. Hitch itself seems way to use. Can't wait to pickup new camper next week! Thank you etrailer for such awesome service!!!
The installation is straight forward. With a helper it took about 6 hours to install. With the hitch set at it lowest height was able to close my bed cover.
2016 F350 crew standard box. Installation went well with the videos help in about 3 hrs. The bolt leader provided really helped on the driver side.
Straight forward installation
Purchased this hitch, install kit, and wiring harness for a new to me 2015 F-250. After watching the installation video and reviewing the included instructions the install went smoothly. The only deviation from the instructions was instead of using a unibit to drill the 9/16" holes in the bed I used a Rotobroach hole cutter(the holes are cleaner and the bit does not drift. I hooked in to my fifth wheel for the first time on Saturday.
This product was easy to assembly. Very clear instructions and it took less then an hour to install. I was impressed with the packaging. The cardboard box the rails came in had steel inserts in the corners to keep the rails from breaking through. The box also had 1/8" plywood in the top and bottom for rigidity. It fit perfectly in the puck system in my Silverado. By purchasing it from "Etrailer" and installing it myself, I saved $1,600 by not having the RV Dealership install one for me. Only tools I needed was a socket wrench and a torque wrench.
Easy installation and I loved the fact everything you needed came in a package deal!
