Secure, Two-Piece Jaw

Q20 Two-Piece Jaw

Unlike slide-bar models, the rounded, two-piece jaw on this fifth-wheel trailer hitch inhibits rattle and movement by securely wrapping around your trailer's king pin, resulting in easier hookup and a safer, quieter ride.

Three-Point Indicator System

Get peace of mind with Curt's color-coded lock indicator. Just look at the indicator - either the one on the handle or the one on the hitch itself - to determine whether the jaw is in the correct position to uncouple (red), couple (yellow) or tow (green).

Q20 Color Indicator System

360-Degree Pivot

Curt's unique spherical axial bearing provides a durable pivot point that allows easy, 360-degree movement of the hitch head. This ball joint is designed for smooth, quiet operation with less clunking and chucking.

Video Transcript for DIY 2022 Ram 2500 Installation for the Curt Q20 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch

What's up, everybody It's A.J. with etrailer.com Today, we're gonna be checking out the Curt Q20 5th wheel hitch assembly. And today we're putting it on the Curt adapter for the above-bed puck system that comes OEM with this 2022 Ram 2500. Right away we wanna point out that we are in a shorter six foot bed on this Ram. So this would really only work with a longer bed and eight for one just because of it's a static hitch, it's not gonna move around. So it would work with a slider.

You can get it in a kit with that if that's something you need but it will not work with the sidewinder style King Pin. So just keep that in mind. I think this will work great for the eight foot bed. Now today the way we have this set up is since our Ram has the factory under bed puck system, as we use the adapter from Curt and that's gonna go into those pucks and allow you to attach the fifth wheel legs to the adapter itself. That way it's above bed and you can still use this if you already had this assembly.

You just need to get the adapter to use it in your new truck with the pucks. Let's look at how it connects. It's got a two jaw system, which is better than just the one jaw system. Which that usually works but this gives you a complete coverage of the kingpin so you know it's secure in there. It's really easy operate.

We've got the handle here. I'll pull the pin. Pull this back. Even has an indicator on this side that lets you know. So it's green, so it means it's good to tow right now because it would be connected if we had something in there.

So come here, pull the side. We are in red, so that means it's uncoupled and then yellow would be it's coupled. It's ready to go. So when it's in yellow now we back up to the King Pin, it would activate these jaws. I'm gonna show you how the jaws work. This is gonna be a King Pin insert. So we're backing up to the trailer on the King Pin. It gets lined up with the two jaws. Once it hits the jaws and pushes back, they go into place. So that brings the handle in. So now the indicator's gonna be green for ready to tow. You wanna make sure you latch it back just for extra security and then you're ready to hit the road. As far as security goes, you don't have to just use this pin. It's nice as this is included, but sold separately, you can get a padlock run through there and lock this up. That way no one can unlatch this and mess with this when you're not around. When you go to set it up or back it up to your trailer, the head does pivot back and forth so that's gonna help you adjust. If it's slightly off and you're coming in and you don't have to worry about it straight on, it will adjust to you backing in. So I'll show you kind of here. I'll pull it an angle. You might not be able to see much but also pull it in to the side. It still adjusted just fine. You can see it pivots back and forth and can go front and back. So it will adjust as you back that King Pin in. You also get this plate that acts as a barrier on your King Pin. So you put it all the way on there on the bottom and that's gonna protect it against metal on metal contact. So instead it'll hit that plate as it comes in here. Which is gonna keep from scraping everything up. There's also gonna be three points to help add grease to it to keep it moving easily. So there's gonna be one up right on front. There's gonna be on the left side and there's gonna be one on the right side. Another nice thing about this is you can detach the head from the base, which is gonna not only make it lighter but easier to install or remove. So I'm gonna pull the clips on the inside and show you the two pin system. There's one on this side. So you have one on the opposite side. Then you're gonna lift and remove the head out. Now it does resist a little bit, so you will have to pull up. And as I shake it back and forth, it slowly starts to come out. And I can remove that, set it aside, and then remove the base separately. The Q20 is gonna have a gross total weight rating of 20,000 pounds. It's gonna have a vertical load limit of 5,000 pounds. And this does weigh 139 pounds. So if you need help with it, get some help loading into the truck and set in the place. Now you can disassemble it, remove the head to make it a little bit lighter and easier for one person. Installing is really easy. We just drop it off the adapter, line up the tabs with the holes, and it goes right in the place. We'll go underneath and add in our pin and clips. Overall, I think this is a good fifth wheel hitch. Now if you have the eight foot bed, it's gonna be better. Don't recommend it for the six foot bed just because of how limited it is. But the jaws going right around the King Pin, really nice. It's all the way around there. It's gonna take up some of that rattling. The way it adjusts when you back up into it is gonna be really easy to do as well. The handle was easy to pull out. It had the color code here on the side so if you did have a backup camera here or you could see it in the mirror, you could see that it was green and good to go and you're good to tow. Well, I think that does it. Thanks for hanging out and I hope this helped..

Well your shipping is very poor, sent you photos of the container, the item was scratch and hopefully not dropped, will get installed and see if it works. Customer service was 5 star. But shipping something that heavyvin a card board box was crazy.

by:

Only thing it was missing was the bolts nuts washer lock washers and the pins for the fifth wheel where I couldn’t put the legs on it everything else was good good fifth wheel.

by:

I bought a new trailer recently that weighs 16k and I just didn't feel secure using my Reese pro series 16k to Haul with. So I started looking at various hitches. I've had 3 other fifth wheel hitches in the past. All of them have been 15 and 16k models. What I never liked was the latching system. I've even had a trailer come out of the hitch due to a poor latching hook up. There wasn't an good way to lock the hitch. Some of it was my fault and some was a poor design. When I saw the Curt Q20 had a latch on the handle and also was color coded I was hooked. This hitch satisfied my want list. It arrived 4 days after I ordered it and like other comments I've read it was full of heavy duty staples. It was double packaged. There had to be over 50 staples. It was defiantly packaged securely. After dimantaling the packing I finally got to the hitch. There were a few scratches on the hitch from all the staples but a bit of black touch up paint took care of that. After all the hitch is going to be used and get scrached by me anyways. Four bolts and it was together. It fit perfictly it my existing rails. By the way it's heavier than my other hitches. I wound be apprehensive to pull my new trailer. If your looking for a great hitch at a great price you can't go wrong.

by:

Unlike other reviews...I will say that my packages all arrived in perfect condition. (Boxes were all intact). Assembling the Q20 is a breeze and by all appearances this hitch certainly seems to be more than adequate for my needs. I haven't had a chance to actually use it yet...but from what I can tell, I certainly don't expect any issues. I like the way the hitch latches and unlatches, and that you can add a lock to prevent someone from opening the jaws while you are parked somewhere. I think the only thing I'll add is a lock in place of one of the pins...just to make it difficult for someone to remove and steal the hitch.

by:

I have just used the hitch on some very short pulls, nothing long yet. However, I can tell it is much quitter and does not seem to chuck as much as my old hitch. Appears to be very well built. Heavier than the old 15K hitch I had before. The only down I can find right now is that there is not a good place to hook up the emergency stop brake cable. I was able to rig up a connector that works just fine.

by:

This product has worked perfect for me using with my 2012 Wildcat Sterling 5th wheel. Customer service is the best at etrailer.com. Just love doing business with them!

by:

Arrived in the time identified, and all materials included. Box was damaged during shipping but packaged well enough that no damage occurred. Installed and got me out a jam caused by a height issue with original hitch installed by dealer causing the trailer to ride nose high. Leveled out and still maintaining the proper clearance between the bed and trailer.

by:

Couldn't give it anymore stars after I took the hitch out of the box and it was all scratched up. Always good when you spend xxx on a hitch to receive it in that condition

by:

Great hitch. Used several times. Love the way it comes apart into two pieces for ease of carrying when taking it out and putting it back in. Locks the trailer in tight too. Gets my trailer to were I want to with no problems.

by:

Got my 5th wheel double boxed and in good shape. Took 2hrs to install outboard base rail kit. Everything finger tight. This Morning it took me 2hrs to drill the 4 center holes, I put 2 in the center on each rail, remove spare tire and torque everything down and replace spare tire.
The outboard base rail kit was a snap to install and I love the Curt Q20 with no floppy 5th wheel plate.

by:

The product shipped and was received in a timely manner. The installation went very good, took me about 3 1/2 hours to install. Instructions were easy to understand. The installation kit came with many extra parts so I wasn't worried about missing parts. Items are very heavy so be careful lifting. The drillbit needed for the holes is 17/32 which is an uncommon bit to find at a hardware store. It would've been nice if the drillbit was included in the kit. I did find one at a local hardware store for $6.35. By the time I was done drilling my last hole the drillbit is now useless, burned the tip out and last hole was hard to finish. When I first started my measurements I didn't realize the truck model at the top of the page and initially measured for a GMC, but I own a tundra. I was thankful my wife came in and was talking with me and disrupted the job. After she left is when I realized I measured for the wrong vehicle. Double check everything before drilling. Very good product and would definitely recommend it to another person.

by:

Is difficult to get the jaws to lock- sometimes have to manually push one jaw to get it to spring closed. Any idea why?

by:

I placed my order on Tuesday evening and it arrived early Friday. Very fast shipping!!! The hitch installed easily using etrailer custom rail kit. Hitch itself seems way to use. Can't wait to pickup new camper next week! Thank you etrailer for such awesome service!!!

by:

This product was easy to assembly. Very clear instructions and it took less then an hour to install. I was impressed with the packaging. The cardboard box the rails came in had steel inserts in the corners to keep the rails from breaking through. The box also had 1/8" plywood in the top and bottom for rigidity. It fit perfectly in the puck system in my Silverado. By purchasing it from "Etrailer" and installing it myself, I saved $1,600 by not having the RV Dealership install one for me. Only tools I needed was a socket wrench and a torque wrench.

by:

Easy installation and I loved the fact everything you needed came in a package deal!

by:

I ordered the hitch on a Sunday evening of a holiday weekend, I received the shipping information on Monday of the holiday and was able to track it all to the way to my door, couldn't ask for better order tracking.
The hitch was double boxed with a lot of staples and arrived in excellent shape a package that heavy is going to have some external wear IMO from all the handling. The hitch came delivered in 3 piece which allowed for easy moving into the bed of the truck. The hitch has very nice and hopefully durable finish . I have yet to tow with it but like the indicator colors and the positive locking system.

by:

Excellent customer service and great pricing from e-trailer. The Q20 is an extremely heavy duty and well made hitch.

by:

Bought the Q20 Curt hitch to replace the 16,000# Curt hitch we used for our previous 5th wheel trailer. The new trailer is heavier, so I wanted to upgrade. I like the Curt products and wanted to continue with them. The dual locking jaws were the real selling point.
etrailer and Lisa D are a joy to work with. We had a problem with another product and Lisa handled it perfectly and professionally.

by:

Just pulled my Voltage 3950 yesterday with this hitch and I cannot be more satisfied! The whole process from start to finish with etrailer.com was awesome. Yes, a little damage to the box but hey, if it means I get a quality hitch at a lower price then so be it. I'd rather them not overspend on shipping. Can't thank y'all enough.

by:

Just got back from a two-week road trip out west, the new trailer hitch performed without a snag! Easy docking and undocking, very nice to have a nice smooth ride. We are very impressed and thankful for an excellent product.
The package in which the hitch arrived was in pretty rough shape, but all the pieces arrived. There is one place on the deck itself where it took some scuffing of the paint from whatever it was banged on during shipping. We are going to have to touch up that place to keep it from rusting in the elements.
All in all, this was a great buy. Thanks

by:

Arrived on time with everything as promised. I have purchased multiple times from etrailer with outstanding results every time

This 5th wheel hitch was just 4 bolts to put together. Easy - peasy

by:

Ordered during etrailer's free shipping promotion. Got my order quicker than anticipated. The box that tries to contain the hitch is pretty humble, but all the parts/pieces seem to be here. That is what is important. As other's have said, we didn't order the box, but the contents.

by:

This is a replacement hitch for a previous Curt Q20. I am very happy with the product and the service provided by etrailer. A great product at a fair price.

by:

Arrived in great condition, fast delivery, great price. I had no problem taking out my old 5th wheel and putting the new Curt in its place. We have pulled only once since getting it but could feel a big difference in the smoother pull with no noise, no bucking and chucking, just a much smoother ride.

by:

I have not received my hitch yet ups told me it was damaged and would let you..I called you yesterday to have you reship it I will give you a review when I get my hitch

  • How To Determine if Curt A16 Slider Hitch will Fit Rails in Bed of 2013 Toyota Tundra
If the rails in the bed of your family member's truck like what come with the Curt kit # C16304-200 that you referenced and are 22 inches apart on center your Curt 16k slider like part # C16521 will fit and work well. These are industry standard rails which are by far the most common design of rails which nearly all manufacturers match the design of. This allows most hitch and rail kit brands to be able to swap between each other.

  • Compatibility of Anderson Ultimate 5th Wheel Connection w/ 2015 Toyota Tundra Crewmax
The Andersen Ultimate Connection you referenced, part # AM3200 isn't meant to be used in trucks with beds shorter than 6 feet. The only safe way to tow a fifth wheel with your Crewmax would be to use a standard (non sliding) fifth wheel hitch and a Reese Sidewinder installed in place of your original pin box. If you don't already have bed rails in your truck, you can install them using part # C16304-200. The hitch you'll need will depend on the weight of your fifth wheel. The non-sliding...

  • Fifth Wheel Rail Kit Part Number for 2016 Toyota Tundra Long Bed
For the 8 foot long bed versions of the 2016 Toyota Tundra Curt recommends the fifth wheel rail kit # C16304-200 as the correct fit. The # C16468-204 fits the 6-1/2 foot long bed versions of the truck only. For a hitch the Curt A16 part # C16120 is a really great option. It has a jaw design that wraps tightly to the king pin of the trailer for a smooth ride and a head that pivots quite a bit to allow for easier connection/disconnection of the hitch.

  • Does Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Bracket Kit # C16448 Fit 2007 Toyota Tundra with 8-Foot Bed
The Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Bracket Kit # C16448 that you referenced is not a fit for your 2007 Toyota Tundra with 8-foot bed, but this type of custom under-bed bracket does avoid the need to drill into a vehicle's frame. Such custom-fit brackets use existing holes in the vehicle's frame as their attachment points. For your Tundra we do offer both custom and semi-custom 5th wheel install kits. For example, Reese offers a custom bracket kit # RP50084-58 that will not require you to drill...

If by 'long bed' you mean an 8 foot bed, no you will not need a sliding fifth wheel hitch to tow your Cougar 27sab Xlite. The non-sliding version of the E16 is part # C16115. This being said, the E16 uses a slide bar type jaw that will allow the fifth wheel's king pin to rattle and bang around in the hitch. A LOT. I would be happy to help you. There are two big differences in options for towing a 5th wheel trailer with your 2022 Chevy Silverado 2500. The first and easiest would be if you have the prep package. What that is is a from the factory option that puts four holes in the bed of your Silverado for mounting a 5th wheel hitch (See picture below). This is a factory option only and there is no way to add this with aftermarket parts. With this system on your truck you have two options to install...

  • What is Difference Between Curt A20 and Q20 Fifth Wheel Hitches
The Curt A20 # C16140 and Curt Q20 # C16130 are very similar 5th wheel hitches with the A20 being the more recent and improved version. • Compatability of Fifth Wheel Hitch in Reese Rails on a 2003 Ford
Your RBW 15,000 pound hitch should fit in the Reese rails unless they are installed improperly. When the hitch was installed on the F-550 it may have been tightened down with the gooseneck adapter installed and the rails are just out of position for your fifth-wheel hitch. If the hitch you have is not fitting by a small amount I would try to loosen the mounting bolts on the rails and then install the fifth-wheel hitch. After you have the hitch installed you can then re-tighten the mounting...

  • Differences Between Curt A20 and Q20 Fifth Wheel Hitches
The A20, like # C16140 essentially an updated version of the # C16130 Q20. The head unit of the A-series fully articulates using torsion inserts that allows the head to articulate but also suppress shock. The head is easily removed by taking out one pin,...

  • 5th Wheel Hitch Install Kit Rail Location for 2017 Ford F-250
The actual position of the bed rails can vary according to which manufacturer's frame bracket you're using. Since most folks tend to order the brackets from the same manufacturer as the hitch, I'll assume unless told differently that you're using the Curt # C16428 frame brackets with your Curt bed rails (you always want to ensure that the frame brackets and bed rails are from the same manufacturer so the capacity of the installation isn't compromised). The rails for this kit mount so that...
