Reese Double Jaw

Secure, 2-Piece Jaw

Unlike the more economical slide-bar models, the rounded, 2-piece jaw on this fifth-wheel trailer hitch inhibits rattle and movement by securely wrapping around your trailer's king pin, resulting in easier hookup and a safer, quieter ride.

Kwik-Slide Square-Tube Slider

Most often used on trucks with 6' beds, this roller helps to eliminate clearance problems during slow-speed turns. When you are towing a fifth-wheel trailer, your hitch must be situated on the cab side of your truck's rear axle. However, at slow speeds you can use a roller to slide the fifth-wheel hitch (and the trailer) toward your truck's tailgate and past the rear axle, creating enough space between the cab of your truck and the trailer to permit less-restricted turning.

Video Transcript for Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Installation - 2018 Ram 2500

Shane: Hi, I'm Shane with etrailer.com. Today, we're going to be taking a look at the Reese dual jaw fifth wheel trailer hitch with square tube slider on our 2018 Ram 2500. This hitch is designed to easily hook up and disconnect from your fifth wheel trailers. This hitch is designed for an above bed rail set up like we have here. It's going to allow you to easily not only put your fifth wheel hitch into the bed of your truck, but also take it out to give you total bed access. You can see it has a very nice wide base to give you plenty of stability when pulling that fifth wheel trailer. We're going to have a 16,000 pound gross trailer weight, and a 4,000 pound vertical load limit. Our head is going to pivot in four different directions, so we can not only hook up but unhook on unlevel ground.

Forward and backwards, and side to side. Our head assembly is going to have a nice wide opening, this is going to make it easy to hook up to our fifth wheel and disconnect even if we we're at a slight angle. This is going to be a dual jaw design, and what sets us apart from your single jaw, is you got more surface, surface contact with a better fit around that king pin. This is going to remove or eliminate a lot of the jarring effect you get when you're stopping and taking off, or when you're going over obstacles.I've got a piece of plastic here, this is a simulate a kingpin on a trailer. I'm going to go ahead and insert this. You can see it's kind of wore out.

We're gonna close this up around it, and you can see we really don't get a whole lot of movement out of there even with how we're out this plastic is.Now to operate the jaws, you're simply going to pull the handle, you're going to flip the lock, you're going to slide the handle out, and it locks into place. Once you back into your king pin, you pull the handle, it's going to lock around your king pin, and you place a lock on. Nice thing about our lock, it has a hole here, and there's a plate here that allows you to put a padlock on it so nobody can come up and disconnect yet.Another nice feature, so we're going to have a plate here, it's got a hole in it, and then our lock, it's going to have a hole in it. When we lock our handle into place, we can put a padlock on there and that'll keep or deter someone from coming up in unlocking and disconnecting your fifth wheel. Now let's move down to our height adjustability. You notice the four holes, this is going to allow us to adjust the height of our hitch in four different increments.

From our lowest at 15 inches, all the way up to 18 inches at our highest. Now how we operate our slider, we're going to have a lock towing, we're going to have an unlock, and we're going to have a lock maneuvering. We're going to have a guide pin that tells us where we are. Now, this slider is great for short bed trucks. We unlock it. We're going to slide it all the way back to the back towards the tailgate, lock in the maneuvering.

This is gonna allow us to park our trailer at an angle. We're not going to have to worry about the front of the trailer, the nose of the trailer hitting the cab of the truck. When we're ready to take off again, unlock it, slide our hitch back up, lock it into the towing position. Again, this fifth wheel hitch is for a above bed rail kit. You're going to have a foot that's going to slide down into your rail. You'll have a pin that's gonna slide through the rail, and through the hole in the foot, just like that. Then you'll have a clip to lock it into place. This hitch is gonna have a nice black powder coat finish, it's going to resist any rust or corrosion and stay looking nice for a really long time. This is going to be one of the more economical hitches. There are other hitches available, they give you a few more upgrades. All of those hitches can be found here at etrailer.com.

Ordered this hitch for my 2014 Chevy,it came in two boxes and was put together on the work bench in no time at all. and I also ordered the custom rail kit RP50064-58. Just in time for summer camping.

by:

Arrived yesterday, box with hitch was broken, UPS driver said he taped it up. All parts look good. Plastic bag with small parts was torn open, 2 small parts missing, I can get them locally. I understand that there heavy Just need to be packaged better. Otherwise all ok.

by:

I’ve alway used hitches from Reese and enjoyed their performance. This is my first 5th hitch. It broke on the third pull. The rod holding the jaws fractured opening one side of the jaws. Thank God the trailer stayed attached and we made it home. Reese saw it was a warranty issue and replaced the hitch. Currently we are still using it and all appears to be working fine

by:

I purchased the Reese dual jaw slider and install bracket kit. Everything arrived in three days in perfect condition. After watching the install video and reviewing the enclosed instructions I installed the assembly myself. It took approximately 4 hours . As you can see I also did additional steps, cutting the rubber bed mat to fit around the rails. Also undercoating the brackets to blend in the wheel wells. Etrailer is definitely the place to go for all your RV needs.

by:

Slide spring steel came out 9n first install. Hasn't worked right since. Had same one before and no problems.

by:

Instructions are very good, all parts came with the hitch and were well protected.
This is the first time I've ever put one of these hitches together so I read the instruction thorough.
There was some lubrication that was required.
It took me 1 1/2 hours.
The only thing I can add is when installing the upper handle for the release pin, it had burrs on the inside of the handle and made it difficult to slide onto the tube.
Make sure you check for burrs and deburr before installing. I would still give them 5 stars.

by:

Love the hitch. Hooks up easily and solid. Gives plenty of clearance. Only downside is it’s very noisy and you really feel the trailer. But for the price and weight it’s still 5 stars. Going to go up to a highway payload truck and will be getting the B&W companion for that. Not a reflection of the performance of this hitch though

by:

Nice ride with this hitch . I was kind of on the fence about the pivoting but I’m good with .

by:

I've used this hitch in an 08 f250 and a 15 ram 2500. All I had to do was purchase a set of frame brackets. The fact this hitch can be easily moved among tricks is great. Easy hitching and unhitching. Easy to use. Easily adjust heights. And the slide option being available is great.

by:

I received the Reese 5th wheel 16,000 lb slider hitch from etrailer in June 2019; installed it in July 2019. Took around five hours to install the base rail kit and Reese hitch start to finish. So far so good, this heavy duty slider hitch works flawlessly with my F250/fifth wheel combo. It arrived in multiple boxes, had excellent instructions and an operating manual. For myself and other do-it-yourselfers, etrailer provides excellent support and installation videos to help with the install.

by:

This hitch has a feature or two we didn't even expect. It was an easy install and is performing great. Plenty of maneuverability and rock stable. etrailer's service was incredible and stayed on top of the delivery until we got it. We thought they went the second mile to make sure we got our hitch.

by:

Being a first time 5th wheel owner and After researching for the right 5th wheel hitch for my 2011 ext cab chevy Z71 4wd. and the best prices i went with the reese 16 K slider hitch. A must for a 6 1/2 ft bed.
And etrailer had the best price and were very helpful answering all my questions
The hitch arrived in 3 days,
One of the 2 boxes was a little torn up but nothing was damaged,
The instructions were great, and it had more than enough hardware needed for different apps.
I had 2. choices for the mounting brackets,I went with the custom fit not the universal the custom brackets are strong and fit perfect.
I watched a couple install videos online, there were not many on my truck people said you have to cut out your exhaust and your heat shield and drop the gas tank.I did not have to drop my gas tank i just slightly bent down the heat shield to reach above it then pushed it back up.
I used the Allen button head bolt for the left front and had my wife spin the bolt with a long extension and ratchet while I held the nut and washers with a magnet and my finger tips,it was kind of a (pima) and took a little time but way better than dropping my tank.
I did call Reese with a couple questions and suggested to use stronger shipping boxes.
The only thing I had to adjust was the support for the parking brake cable.
I did the hole job on the ground in my yard
This also was a good time I replaced my rear brakes, checked my spare tire psi,and llubed my cable for the spare lift.
Every one was verry nice and helpful from etrailer and Reese.
I wish I was better with computers and could of made a video

Missing lots of parts was repackaged, also used, all scratched. Called CUSTOMER SERVICE none in stock to replace

by:

Ordered the Reese 16K square tube slider on Wednesday and received it on Friday even using the free shipping. That is a remarkable delivery on any product especially a very heavy 5th wheel hitch. Assembly requires only a few basic tools. Took my time and within a couple of hours had it installed and ready to use. Bed rails were already installed.

by:

I give etrailer 1 star I would like to give them no stars (less than poor) for this transaction. I received this hitch Thursday 2/10/2022 the box was in a very tattered condition. I opened the box on the next day Friday 2/11/2022 it appeared that the box did not contain all of the pieces for the hitch, looking at the box it showed that there should have been 2 boxes, I received box 1 of 2. I called and spoke with someone at etrailer they informed me that UPS had damaged the second box in shipping, and that they had returned box 2 of 2 to etrailer. I was never informed by UPS or etrailer of what had taken place. I never received any notification that the first box had been delivered. The only correspondence that I have received was an email from Carol C informing me that she was notified that my order had been delivered, she also sent me this link for me to write a review. I have been told by the person that I had spoken to that my missing parts to my hitch would be shipped. It is now 2/14 I still have not received any notification of my parts being shipped, or when I will receive them.

This is a great hitch. I've been using it for a year now and have had no problems with it.

by:

I bought it used it twice got rid of the 5th wheel. Never again would I own a 5th wheel biggest mistake I ever made
And it's for sale so if you know someone who would want it let me know

by:

The hitch went together without any problems. Thank you

by:

Quick delivery hitch required minor assembly it was open box but looked like new. Works great very pleased with purchase.

by:

I'm very happy with the product, service and price. I originally had a used non sliding Reece fifth wheel hitch installed in my 6 1/2 ft. Tundra Bed. It didn't have enough clearance for backing into some spots and my new truck cab got dented ($1,700 repair bill). This sliding fifth wheel is the answer, very easy to install on same bed rails.

BTW etrailer doesn't recommend a non sliding fifth wheel for my truck. Smart.

by:

The box arrived with an email from your company stating that the carrier UPS had put in a claim for damages. The shipping box was torn open on each end, I did not even try to open the cardboard box for fear I would not be able to send it back. The shipment is sitting on my front porch exactly where UPS left it.

by:

Amazing service

by:

This hitch was used and missing parts I waited 3 months for this hitch only to have someone who did not do there job properly !!! it must have been a return and sent to me without inspecting the return it was more than likely sent without inspection /sad my time and my money awaiting the return

by:

Item was great, however twice now the packages have come severely damaged and once items were missing. I think you need to consider better packing on heavy items. because of this I could not give 5 stars.Thank you though for shipping out the missing items quickly without hassle.

  • Fifth Wheel Hitch Recommendation for 2000 Ford F-250 Short Bed
For fifth wheel towing height clearance you want at least 6 inches between the bed rails and the trailer overhang while the trailer sits level to avoid bed rail interference on elevation changes. Now what I suspect you are really interested in is turning clearance since you have a short bed truck and they typicallyneed a slider hitch to allow the trailer to slide without hitting the nose of it to the cab of the truck. So for a slider hitch that would work well we have the Reese part #...

Because your 2009 Ford F-150 has a 5-1/2 foot bed, you will need a Sidewinder extended pin box to replace the pin box that is on the trailer. You will need to determine what model pin box the trailer uses and then compare that to the available Sidewinders to see if there is one that will fit. I have included a link to the Sidewinder main page for you to view. If you find there is a Sidewinder that will fit, you will then need a stationary 5th wheel hitch. • Is A Sliding 5th Wheel Hitch Required When Towing With A 6' Bed
Typically with any bed under 8' in length we recommend using either a slider hitch or fixed hitch and rotating pin box to prevent the nose of the trailer from coming into contact with the cab of the truck when making tight turns. There are some trailers that have tapered noses that allow for more turning clearance, but it's always best to play it safe. You can see how much turning clearance you have by taping a plumb bob to the outermost corner of the trailer's nose and measuring from...

Yes, if your current hitch is mounted using the OEM puck system and you are moving into the same vehicle but longer bed, the OEM puck system will be the same and therefore mount without change. Hello David. All of the 2-1/4" or 2-1/2" long 9/16" wheel studs we offer have a knurl diameter of .68, such at the Kodiak Wheel Bolt # K916WB25. We do not have anything with a knurl size of .60 or .62. We do have some 1/2" studs that have the knurl size you are looking for, the Redline Wheel Studs # RG03-080. Unfortunately, nothing is a 9/16" though.

  • Which Firestone Air Bags Fit 2024 Ford F-350 King Ranch
Hello Chris; the Firestone Airide Red Label Extreme Duty Air Helper Springs # F95FV you ordered will fit your 2024 Ford F-350 King Ranch. The Red Label are a great choice for your 17,000 lb horse trailer since they have the higher capacity at 7,500 lbs. If you don't already have one I also recommend adding an air compressor like the Firestone Air Command Heavy Duty Air Compressor # F2219. This will allow you to adjust the pressure in your air bags from the cab of the truck no matter where...

  • Option For Replacement Door For Opening Under Gooseneck
Hi Riley, We have a number of options for replacement access doors, though unfortunately I'm not privy to the exact door on a 2005 Grand Junction. To find the right potential option, you can measure the opening and we may have one that fits. For example the Multi-Purpose Access Door # SE38VR is 9-5/8" wide x 23-7/8" tall, # SE58VR is 14" wide x 23-7/8" tall, and the # SE26VR is 18-1/8" wide x 20-1/2" tall. I've added a link below to our entire selection of access doors that you can filter...

  • Will Hopkins Flat Tow Wiring Work with LED Lights and Sensors on a 2024 Jeep Wrangler JLU
Hey Steve, thanks for reaching out again! Hopkins doesn't have any exceptions for their Wiring Kit # HM39VR which normally means it's compatible, but even though this is easier to install than a lot of the other options, from my experience I try to shy away from most of the Hopkins wiring solutions because they just simply aren't super reliable. The best option for your 2024 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited is the Roadmaster Smart Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Wiring Kit # RM63MR and is ultimately what...

  • How Do You Set The Air Pressure In The Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs F2609?
Hello Al, thanks for reaching out. The Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs # F2609 are indeed a good fit for the 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 turbo max. Thea air pressure is set by an air compressor. The # F2609 kit comes with two schrader valves that are mounted near the bumper. You can use really any air compressor to fill the bags. A lot of people will use the compressor they have in their garage. I have used a tire inflator to fill air bags and that works fine too. You also have the option...

  • Does The ProPride Weight Distribution Hitch Use A Standard WD Shank?
Hello Robert, that is a great question. The ProPride Weight Distribution Hitch # PR97QR uses its own unique shank, so this will not be compatible with the Gen-Y torsion attachment from the WD hitch. The ProPride hitch uses a two-piece shank system, and you will need to use the shank that comes with the ProPride hitch. The ProPride hitch is pricey, but it truly is in a class of its own as far as sway control and enhanced ride quality.

  • Will Hitch Mounted Bike Rack Interfere With Sensors on Rear Bumper for 2023 Sprinter
Hello Matt; the Kuat NV 2.0 Base Bike Rack for 2 Bikes # BA22B may obstruct the sensors in your rear bumper but it will depend on your hitch. The bike rack has a built-in 3-1/2" rise from the shank so depending on where the receiver sits it may clear the sensors. Realistically, I would expect this and any other hitch mounted bike rack to get picked up by sensors even if it sits slightly above. If you have a tow mode or some other way to shut off the sensors that is one solution. If you...

Hey Cheryl, The only difference between the Vision X Utility Light XIL-UMX4460 and # XIL-UMX4060 is simply their shape/sizing. The 4460 has a square 4-3/4" x 4-3/4" housing and the 4060 has a round 4-1/2" diameter. Both lights have the same lumen ratings and focusing so they're essentially the same exact light aside from the shape.

  • Recommended Trailer Wheels for a 215 60-8 Tire With a 5 on 4 1/2 Bolt Pattern
If by flat you mean the paint type then the answer is no, unfortunately. The closest I was able to find apart from straight up steel is the Kenda 215/60-8 Bias Trailer Tire with 8" White Wheel # AM3H310 which has a semi-gloss coat. Your best bet honestly is to use a steel wheel # AM3H320 and have it painted flat. If you're referring to a run flat tire then we definitely don't have those. Your best bet would be to get in touch with a local tire shop and see what they've got.

  • Is Blue Ox Drop Hitch Receiver Adapter with a Reducer Good for Flat Towing with a Motorhome
Hi Steve! The easiest thing to do would be to use the Blue Ox Adjustable Drop Hitch Receiver Adapter # BLU48CR and the etrailer Magnetic Hitch Receiver Reducer Sleeve # e28JR so I recommend going that route. The only advantage you'll see from installing a 2" receiver is if you plan on using your motorhome for towing multiple different things and it makes more sense having the more common 2" receiver.

  • Do Loadstar ST235/75R15 Radial Off-Road Tires Need To Be Balanced
Hello Kirk, the Loadstar ST235/75R15 Radial Off-Road Tires # KE92JR you ordered do not need to be balanced. Trailer wheels and tires are designed to support the load on the trailer, not provide a smooth ride for passengers. However, it won't hurt to balance them if you still want to. I recommend using the Counteract Tire Balancing Beads # CA66VR to make it easy and you will need one for each tire.
