The installation kit contained everything I needed to install my new roof vent. I only used about half of the tape and less than a full tube of sealant. Happy trails!
Ordered the Vent Installation kit, as well as the vent, to install on an older 6x12 enclosed cargo trailer. The kit is exactly what is needed for a waterproof, clean installation. Butyl tape between the vent bracket and the trailer, then self-leveling sealant over the screws and the perimeter of the bracket-trailer seam. Screws to mount the vent and the decorative trim were also included. I made due with one tube of caulk, but can understand some installs would need two. Same with the butyl tape - used less than 1/2. Of note - first set of butyl tape arrived having been mangled in shipping. etrailer.com were great about immediately sending out a replacement, no questions asked. Great service
Dan - 10/31/2020Good replacement. Has held up well. Replaced on a metal roof and original was riveted down so a little harder to install, but doable.
Worked as expected, enough left over to use for a second fan installation.
More than enough tape and caulking to install two 14" x 14" roof vents. Worked well.
Perfect except I ordered 3 to put in 3 roof vents, used less than 1 roll of the putty tape and 1 1/2 tubes of silicone. Should have bought 1 and picked up extra screws for other 2.
Randy S - 06/19/2021Have never had any issues with ordering anything from etrailer! When it comes time to update items on our Motorhome I always think of etrailer, items ordered shipped in a timely manor and arrive in excellent condition!
The sealant is difficult to apply smooth and straight but that should be expected with this type of joint design. The etrailer videos helped with the process. The trick is to carefully apply the sealant where it is needed and do minimal tooling to smooth and fill gaps. No product data sheet is apparently available to understand how to work with the sealant or to provide preparation recommendations, cure times, and safety considerations. No success with locating the product data on the internet or the manufacturer's site. The butyl tape should be shipped flat or attached to a flat sheet of cardboard. When I opened the box it was molded into to a taco shape and had to be set out overnight to creep back into a flat roll. I did not use the carbon steel self tapping screws.
Jeff - 07/17/2020Received my Maxx Fan and roof vent kit on Monday 6/17/19 right on time and everything was their and in good condition. I installed the Maxx Fan on my 2017 GMC cargo van the same day, took me a little longer than I thought it would but not bad for a 74 year old guy. I watched the videos that etrailer had on their site and some other [videos] and that really helped for a first time doing this type of install. I had the wiring ready to go and the fan worked great, thanks etrailer for the fast service and a great price on the Maxx Fan.

Received the items and were packaged well. My husband spent the morning inserting the new vent and works properly and installed. He was pleased with the quality.
Worked great and still in great shape after a year of service.
great. but didn't need two tubes of the sealant. One is more than sufficient for a 14 x 14 vent.

Everything I needed was in the kit. Plus plenty of extra screws. The butyl tape is an awesome product. First time using it. The two tubes of sealer applied easily and leveled out nice. Professional looked job. The extra I had left over I resealed my solar panel and every seam on my roof.

This made replacing my roof vent very easy. The order arrived quickly and everything promised was in the box. They supplied enough sealant to have leftover. The corners of the vent were not padded enough during shipping and were a little bent. It was not a problem straightening them, but it’s not something I should have to do. The supplied screws are a little small compared to the original vent screws I removed and the interior trim screws were cheap slotted screws. I had to reuse the old screws on the interior and some of the exterior.
Our first travel trailer, 30-years old but it has some easy issues to fix. Hubby went to eTrailer.com and found almost everything we need. One phone call later and we had the parts on the way. Love, love, love the installation videos, installation instructions and wiring help videos as we have no clue what to do with two black wires - LOL Off on our travels in a few weeks and we'll be seen and safe on the road. Site could use one or two filters to help customers decide which unit to purchase. There is a large number to browse through. Purchase was easy. Unit properly described, shipping boxes were well packed. Unit installed easily, due to etrailer's how to install video. Happy with purchase and easy of installation. Will buy from etrailer again. dicor And butyl tape are the only thing I use on my RV I try to stay clear of silicone if it's going to be in the sun. Products were as advertised Easy to use effective and inexpensive doesn't get any better than that[thumbs up] Never go back to the RV store locally the markup is horrendous.
