Advent Air Accessories and Parts - ACMSCKIT

  • RV Air Conditioners
  • Start Capacitor
  • Advent Air

If your generator or shore power needs a little extra help to start your RV AC unit, this start capacitor will give it the power boost it needs. Relay switch turns the capacitor off once power has been supplied.

Features:

  • Start capacitor jumpstarts the AC (sold separately) when a campsite or generator doesn't provide enough power
    • Stores energy that will later be used for the next startup
  • Relay switch turns starts capacitor off once sufficient power has been supplied
  • Easy, bolt-on installation
    • Hardware not included

Specs:

  • Overall dimensions: dimensions: 2-1/8" long x 3-5/8" deep x 6-5/16" tall
  • 1-Year warranty

How the Start Capacitor Works

If your campsite or generator isn't able to draw the power you need, then you may have difficulty starting your AC unit. The included start capacitor, however, can eliminate this problem. The capacitor stores energy that will later be used to jumpstart the AC. Once the sufficient amount of power has been supplied to the AC, the compressor will start to run, and the internal relay switch will turn the start capacitor off. At the same time, the compressor will send "back voltage" to the relay switch and capacitor in order to energize them for the next startup.

Simple Installation

To install, bolt it to the fan motor support and then route the wires to the run capacitor. Mounting hardware is not included.

It only makes sense to install this extra capacitor to your RV air conditioner. This unit arrived with easy to follow printed instructions and the video instructions were a great help. Installation only took a few minutes.
***One tip I would offer when attaching the capacitor to the blower - screw in the attachement screws first without the capacitor. The screws are a tight fit intially and this step will allow them to go in much easier when you are attaching the capacitor body.

As always etrailer has the right products at the right price with excellent customer service.

by:

Products as described. Customer support was the best part of it. They carefully guided me step by step to troubleshoot the install.

by:

Seems to work as advertised, I use both my 15kbtu, and the 13.5kbtus on 30 amp service,
Can run either with my 2 ipower Yamaha 1600 watts each.

by:

Easy install. I learned that the capacitor didn’t have polarity so it doesn’t matter which wire you connect to the middle terminal and which you connect to the end. Would have been nice if the instructions had made that clear; I had to call an electrician friend.

by:

I received Item #ACMSCKIT. Thank you

When
am I going to receive the other 2 items?

I have one of these on my aft advent ac and the ac runs with the solar. I have a high priced “soft start” on the front ac and it will not run on solar.

by:

I received the order a week early. Only issue is that the frame was damaged in shipment but was isolated to the frame and no other damage. Installation was straight forward. Installed on 7x14 trailer. Hardest part was removing vent opening sealant from the roof. Ran fine on initial start-up. Will test with heat load today.

by:

Very easy to install. Strongly suggest adding the start capacitor!!

by:

Keeps the A/C from popping the circuit breaker if started when the other one is on as stated.

by:

I don't know if you really want me to you lied to me right off the bench saying these plug right in plug and Play I just didn't happen I'd spend $XX for a pigtail get it plugged in and it's still it doesn't work right with the automatic air it might work good with switch air on and off but climate control with the Vance please don't sell it to another one like that cuz it doesn't work right thank you

by:

Easy to install helps with low voltage start ups. Glad I got it.

by:

I can tell you I was glad to get this starting capacitor for my air conditioner. Now I will be able to use my generator.
It was easy to install.
I had one thing that was a guess about it the two wires were black I could only pick one to go to red and one to go to black on the air conditioner capacitor.

by:

The best price for the recommended product and quick shipping as well as plenty of information available

by:

Really easy to install. Good instruction very happy.

by:

Quick, easy install and worked exactly as the original. Thanks etrailer!

by:

Great service just received the product. However the product was slightly damaged in shipment. Have pictures where do I send them? No damage to shipping box.

by:

I got it a lot sooner than expected. And I was unsure as to if I could set the unit wiring up and to my surprise there where videos on how to hook up the wires great job thanks it's working great

by:

I was very happy with the package that I got. The A/C units came on time although they did have a little damage. I had expected this from the other reviews. That being said the damage was only cosmetic and I was able to bend the dent out with my hand and it did not effect the operation of the units themselves. When I received my A/C units (I ordered 3) they were missing the capacitors I had ordered with them. I expected them to ship by themselves, so I figured they were a bit behind the units. Someone from etrailer.com reached out to me asking how everything was and if I had received everything I ordered. I mentioned the capacitors and he said they should have shipped with the units. He got right on finding out what happened with no hassle what so ever. Less than an hour after I had emailed him back mentioning the capacitors he had acknowledged the mistake and said he sent 3 of them out to me and I got them a few days later. I was VERY happy with the customer service, as now days it's a hassle to get anything done. Not so with etrailer.com, they treated me right and took care of my order (I know I sound like a paid rep. but I promise I'm not lol)

by:

Now, the AC works perfectly. Not sure why these aren't included with the AC unit when you first purchase the AC; nonetheless, this did the trick. When we first installed the AC, we were hooked up to our home electricity on a 20AMP dedicated circuit. The AC would power on fine, but the condenser wouldn't start up. Installed this part and it worked. Installation was pretty easy, aside from the AC being on top of the camper. I would have liked to just install the capacitor from the beginning (while it was on the ground).

by:

Installed these because a lot of people in online forums recommended to have them. Installation was straight forward. ACs are running without issues for about a year now. My generator can start both ac units simultaneously. Have not run the ACs without them, so don't know how it would have been without them.

by:

Had everything I needed to install it with little problems.

by:

Works great easy to install

by:

I purchased the ACMKIT for my coleman mach 1350 btu A.C. on my R.V. travel trailer. My two 2000 watts SUA2000i generators would not start my air conditioning compressor. I installed the hard start capacitor, it solved the problem. Very satisfied.

by:

very helpful and friendly service. product was shipped and delivered quick and undamaged. install was easy and works good.. i order a nother and should be here tomorrow will instal that and wait for the weather to warm up and give r a try.

by:

Unit is good design and the cover box is high quality. I'll install it in the AC unit this coming Spring.

Yes, the Start Capacitor for Advent Air RV Air Conditioners # ACMSCKIT will work great with your Advent Air AC unit that you have. What's great about this is that it basically can work on any RV AC unit that is power by 120 VAC. I attached a review video for this for you to check out as well.

  • Power Shutting off After 5 Minutes in Small Camper
Since you are not tripping any breakers, it could be that you are approaching the power limit for your camper. I recommend calculating the total power consumption of the appliances and accessories in your camper. Try testing different combinations of appliances to narrow down which appliance is putting you over the power limit (e.g. try powering on with just the lights on, then just the air conditioning and so on). If the main culprit turns out to be the air conditioner, I recommend using...

The start capacitor will bring down the starting amps for the air conditioner to 1800 watts. I recommend using a 3,000 watt generator with the Start Capacitor Item # ACMSCKIT.

The Advent Air RV Air Conditioner # ACM135 will be a direct replacement for your AC135 unit. This can be used for ducted or non-ducted applications and you won't need anything else to make it work. I do, however, recommend also getting the Start Capacitor # ACMSCKIT to install with this unit simply because it greatly reduces the amount of power required to start the AC unit. • Will Advent Air Replace Dometic DuoTherm Brisk II AC Unit

  • Does the Advent 13,500 Btu RV Air Conditioner Come With a Start Capacitor
The Advent Air RV Air Conditioner part # ACM135 does not come with any sort of integrated start capacitor but this can be added using the Start Capacitor for Advent Air RV Air Conditioners part # ACMSCKIT. The start capacitor will bring down the amps required to start the unit which will help ease the strain on your generator as well as when you have it hooked up to shore power. I highly recommend adding one as it is a very cost effective, worthy investment.
