This replaced my thermostat that had burnt out. Simple installation. Worked right away. Only issue is there were no instructions on how to get it to read Fahrenheit not Celsius.

Removing the unit will be easy by removing these screws and then disconnecting the wiring harness.

You can mount Replacement Digital Wall-Mounted Thermostat # AT15029 on the ceiling if you want. Keep in mind that the air temperature will likely be different on the ceiling compared to the wall so that may affect when and how often the unit kicks on. You could potentially use that old harness you mentioned but we have no way of knowing the wire functions so it is probably best to leave it as-is.

The furnace button of the Thermostat # AT15029 can be used really only if you have a heat pump furnace model. That'll allow you to press once to select the furnace as your primary heating. The only other thermostat for the Atwood Air Command other than the Wall-Mounted part # AT15029 you currently have is the Vent Model # AT15021 but this is rated for 60 degrees as well. In really cold temperatures you'll either need to make sure you have enough propane (like what you currently have to plan for) or you'll have to shut off the system completely to save on the propane.
