Today we're going to take a look at the BMW Turnover Ball Under Bed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch. It has a 30,000 pound weight capacity. Now this is a heavy duty under bed hitch that will let you tow your gooseneck trailer, and what's nice is with this BMW Turnover Ball Under Bed Gooseneck Hitch, you get the best of both worlds. When you go to tow, the turnover ball creates a nice sturdy, dependable connection with your gooseneck trailer and then when you're done towing, you can stow the ball upside down in the hitch to get a full truck bed access and clean appearance. Basically to do that all you have to do is take this access handle, pull it into the open position, take your ball out, flip it right over, there's a little handle on the bottom of it, flip it upside down, drop it back into the hitch, release the handle, and it's locked into place. This is under the bed, so you have full truck bed access. Now on the end of this handle there's a 5/8 inch thick spring loaded steel locking pin on the end of the handle.
It goes all the way through the ball, secures it into place. And this handle you will access at your rear diver's side wheel well. Let's go ahead and take it back out.Now on this hitch they do use a single piece machine ball socket. Provides nice rugged durability. If you look on the hitch ball itself it's a square ball base.
Prevents the ball from turning in the hitch during hook up. And if you notice the edges of the corners, they are chamfered. They call that a corners only fit, and basically that will prevent the grime from building up inside the hitch. So when you drop it into place, it's open on the corners and the dirt will fall through, it doesn't build up. Also, if you notice it does include these spring loaded safety chain hook ups which are built in.And to install this it's a very simple installation.
Now a custom installation kit is required. We do sell that separately on our website. You just put in your year and model vehicle and it will show you what installation kit's needed. And then this will bolt right into the center of that installation kit. Now you do also have to drill a four inch diameter hole into the truck bed to be able to access the opening.
And then four 1/2 inch diameter holes for the safety chain hook ups.Now this is a nice powder coated steel. It's very sturdy and corrosion resistant. The parts are made in the USA. A few specs on this again, the gross towing weight capacity is 30,000 pounds, ton weight capacity is 7,500 pounds, and the hitch ball, the gooseneck ball size is a standard 2 5/16 diameter. But again, it's locked into place, so you're ready to tow. When you're done towing, it's not licked into place when you release it, and then that locks it into place. And then to remove it, just pull it out, twist it to lock it, pull it out. To store it, flip it right over, release the pin and it's locked into place. But that should do it for the review on the BMW Turnover Ball Under Bed Gooseneck Trailer hitch with the 30,000 pound weight capacity.

This was my first order I placed with et etrailer. If one work could say it I guess it would perfect! I ordered on a Tuesday arrived on Thursday. I Placed the order got conformation and a name and contact to call if I had any issues, once it arrived I got another email letting me know if had been delivered. The installation video was perfect made it’s easy to install just followed the steps. When I need any trailer related items I will use them. As far as the B&W hitch i put it in a 2017 Ram 2500 with Ram boxes. The fit and quality of the hitch and design is what I have come to expect from B&W. I got this hitch to pull a gooseneck horse trailer. If your wondering if it will work with Ram Boxes it will.

Received in terrible condition. One box was completely open at all borders and finish on hitch was chipped in multiple places. Product was shown as in stock when order was placed but wasn't shipped until the day AFTER it was supposed to be delivered. Two calls to etrailer told me it would be shipped prior to that date but obviously just trying to smooth over the situation. Installation was completed per instructions and watching etrailer [online] videos without issue. Only difficulty is torquing the bolts to final specs in tight spaces.

Installation was straight forward and it's well built. Works smoothly. etrailer was awesome as usual with shipping and service.
However.... ;) on the BWGNRK1400 for '73-'87 GM trucks, the predrilled holes in the hitch for the safety chain u-bolts are 6-1/4" each way from center of the ball. This places the matching holes you have to drill in the truck bed on the sloped edge of the ribs, not in the center of the valley as intended. The instructions read as if the holes are not pre-drilled but they are, so I contacted B&W and asked if I can drill new holes at 8-3/4" each way of the ball so that they center in the next valley and they said no, that will void the warranty. So I had to do some bodywork, cut, weld and grind to scallop the ribs around the anchors to they won't always be sticking up (defeating the flat floor intent of this hitch design). I saw guy on [online] noted this was an issue on his squarebody bed as well.
B&W needs to look at this dimension for future installations to help out the next guy.

Overall this Installation went as I anticipated, 4-5 hours; it's not for an unprepared amateur. I strongly recommend watching the Installation Video, but more importantly, disconnecting the wiring harness (from both sides, there's 3 connectors) that cross over the rear cross member above the Differential. Disconnecting the rear exhaust was a MUST DO for us (my son helped me) as is a second person. Patience was our friend during this entire Installation for both of us. The brake line that crosses over to the passenger side was of concern to me, and got in the way as well; in the end it is below this entire installation. However there is a Mount Block on the driverside that creates a problemwith getting one bolt into place; a "Fishing Spring" (spring wire that wraps around the threads with long tail to fish/thread/pull thru the hole) would have helped to get this into place. (SEE PICTURE) Once in place the head is able to be held with a narrow spanked wrench while tightening. The rear center bolt is a HUGE challenge to reach once everything is in place and you're torquing things to spec.I had to purchase a "3/4" Crowsfoot" to get this and some of the others because of things blocking access with a socket (not talked about in the video or Installation Video). Once everything is in place and Reconnecting electrical plugs we found that there was enough gap/spacebehind the Kit Rear Cross Bar, over the vehicle rear cross member, to run the driver side electrical. Pay attention to have the "male" plug facing inboard to give you enough slack to reach the passenger side plug. A couple of zip-ties were needed to keep this inplace. See picture for how I routed this and the vent tube to avoid the heatshield.
I've got a 26 foot Keystone Cougar 5th wheel RV Trailer that I be using this, along with an Andersen 3217 hitch. With this B&W Hitch I don't have the 5th wheel Rails across the bed full-time anymore of my 2022 Ram 1500DT 4x4.

Works great, except the turnover part, the ball hits the sway bar. Install was not as easy as stated but that's probably because the kit was more of a universal fit for my truck and I had to do a lot of drilling.

Worked out … Perfect upgrade to the factory system. I hated having to remove , and place the covers in the bed. Now that the safety chains are closer to the center I can load boards and stuff that I don’t want in the trailer in the bed without having to rearrange everything. Only thing is the safety chain hoops are little thicker than the bed ribs and stick up. So it’s not totally flat..

This definitely is not a plug and play mechanism.
There is interference with the lever to unlock the ball and it hitting one of the bolts. I had to shave the bolt down to make it even slide by, in addition to this I had to cut about 1/4” off the mechanism lever for it to open all the way and not hit the bracket on the truck.
So in summary I had to make two cuts into the product to make it even function properly.
Poor quality control.

This is a good kit. It took me about 3 hours to install, but I'm not the fastest.
You'll need a floor jack, rope, 4" hole saw, 1/2" and smaller drill bits, drill, torque wrench, sockets, wrenches, and a impact driver would help make the job faster. Use the floor jack in the truck bed with a rope to lift the heavy plate into place. See pictures.

The installation videos are pretty accurate all around. Admittedly, this took me a little longer than the projected time frame, which I anticipated. Removing the driver side wheel well insert also made torquing the bolts there easier. Installation would likely be easier with a buddy, and reaching the torque specifications on several bolts was difficult with a standard 1/2 inch drive torque wrench, but it was all possible and fit 100% perfectly. Excellent conversion for my 3500 8foot bed. Next step is to get the matching fifth wheel hitch and purchase our dream RV.

Great sturdy product. My used 2012 F-250 came with one and now have one on my 2020 F-250, I think it's a better product than the Ford factor hitch. The installation video is VERY helpful.
Torquing the bolts requires a lot strength and flexibility due to the awkward positions you have to get in but it can be done with patience and prayer. Just plan on dropping the exhaust as shown in the video. As is consistently the case e-Trailer's customer service is second to none. We've already used it several times to pull at 16' gooseneck dump trailer and it works very well.

Works excellent I mounted it to a 3/8 plate
and it fits under the dump body
and it pulls the 30ft goose neck with 17,000 load no problem

I put B&W turnoverball on a 2016 Ram 2500 crew cab short bed diesel,it has the factory prep puck. The change over was pretty simple. I used the same studs and nuts that came with puck goose ball. Tbe only hard part was trying to pry the 4" exhaust pipe down to slide the B&W plate into position. It took me about 2 hours to install by myself. I am going to use a 4" offset ball so I can use a reese goosebox hitch for my 5th wheel.
Review from a similar Turnoverball in Accessories and Parts
Super easy installation with basic tools and know how. Hitch works flawlessly, wouldn't ever want anything other than a B&W. Ease of use and installation is well worth the money, plus after the fact we were able to add the 5th wheel companion which drops right in to the goose hitch. Sweet setup for both.

Great service and a great product! Quick delivery and good communication regarding status. Of course it’s a great hitch, it’s a B&W…
Review from a similar Turnoverball in Accessories and Parts
Very heavy duty goose ball. Love that the bed is mostly free of obstructions when not using the hitch.
Install took 2.5 hours for two of us and we did have access to a hydraulic lift. I couldn’t imagine trying this install alone or without the lift mostly because of how heavy this hitch is and the bolts/nuts you need to be able to reach and torque down. The worst part was drilling a 4” hole in the bed of a new truck, very nerve racking! I also like that this is custom fit for my truck and there were no hes that needed to be drilled in the frame, everything lined up perfectly.
The etrailer install video was key, very informative and so much better than the instructions that came with the hitch. Delivery of the hitch was fast, only 4 days after ordered.

Fit great, fairly easy install. Hardest part was figuring out which cross plate went where. Online video also helped with installation.

Was happy with the B&W turnover hitch that I put on my previous pick up that I wanted on on my current pick up and it has been just what I expected love the ease of installation and the clear floor when not in use

Great fit. I installed this hitch in 4 hours with a little help from my wife. She helped me fish a chain through the hole in the bed and attach it to a floor jack. We use it in conjunction with an Andersen Ultimate fifth wheel hitch. I used it to pull a 16,000 lb fifth wheel trailer 100 miles with no issues. Everything is still tight.

Product delivered in excellent condition. Already installed the 1" high ball and hooked up my 5th Wheel. The entire rig is completely level over 53 ' to within less than 1/2 ". Thank you etrailer for having the products necessary to make my travels down the road safe and secure.
Review from a similar Turnoverball in Accessories and Parts
Between the videos and the instructions it was very easy to follow. If you’re like me and don’t want to cut your fender liners I simply removed the front bed bolts and jacked one side up to slide in the mounting rails. The only fender I had to cut was the drivers side to allow for the latch pin lever. I really like just how “flush” the hitch really is once you turn over the ball. Overall very impressed with the hitch so far and have already recommended the hitch to other family members and friends.
