Many tow systems require some sort of hitch accessory to either raise or lower your tow bar so that it sits level. To determine if your setup needs an adapter, hook the tow bar up to your RV and towed car and measure to see how close to level it is. The "safe zone" for a motor-home-mounted tow bar ranges from 3 inches above level to 3 inches below. Car-mounted models must be absolutely level. This high-low adapter can provide you with the necessary drop or desired rise to achieve a level tow bar setup.

Easy to research options and order the best drop receiver for my application. Staff was able to answer my one question (can you mix/match vendor products) in the affirmative. Fast delivery. Easy install. I noted that there were a few "wires" on the hitch from welding, but I filed those down.

I just fitted the Blue Ox towbar, for 6 inch, drop/rise, receivers. Also, the, Roadmaster quiet hitch lock, for 2 inch hitches. Both are excellent products, strong and very well made. There is no movement, with my new hitch lock in place. Two pictures included, showing both, attached to my Subaru Ascent, the drop hitch now sits at 15 1/2 inches above the ground. I will send more pictures of the lights, also purchased from Etrailer.com when my mobility scooter carrier is completed.

This thing is worth the money in my opinion, and I wasn’t excited about the price when I bought it. I needed to raise my dirtbike rack up and didn’t want to worry about something breaking, especially on rough roads. Dropping something as expensive as a dirtbike is bad enough, but the carnage you could unleash if it happened in traffic is the main concern. One year later and I’ve very glad I got this instead of a cheap one. I’ve used it a lot and it’s basically like new, definitely a heavy and well finished item.

The hitch receiver is very stout and sturdy. My review is more fore the folks at eTrialer. com. Fantastic all around. Solid. Heavy. Solid shank. Good finish. Will mate to a 10,000 lb. Blue Ox tow bar and base plates on a 2016 Lincoln MKX. Needed to close the 5" hight gap on my flat towing set -up. Also did Air Force One brake system and charge line. Professional installation.

Wanted a hitch that would lower my bike rack so my Jeep tire would go over it. But since I'm carrying two Levo's (ebikes) on a Thule T2 Pro I wanted a rack that was really strong. This combo is not light. This rack impressed me with how rock solid it is. Lowered the rack making it easier to load my bikes since my Jeep has a 2.5 inch lift and 35 inch tires. This hitch lowers the bike rack back down to an easier height for me to load the bikes.

I just received my 6 inch drop hitch. It's so well built and solid, I think I will need help getting it on my car. I'm handicapped, so moving around is difficult. I'm in the slow process, of getting a mobility scooter carrier together. I bought a Subaru, Ascent, with hitch, but the hitch was too high, and my scooter won't go up the ramp. I had to find a strong drop hitch, and this is the best I have found. The tongue weight is the big issue, my carrier and scooter weigh 200 lbs. I'm informed, when using a drop hitch for a carrier, 50% of the tongue weight, of the hitch, is lost. A lot of hitches for sale, only have tongue weights of 200 lbs and this would not be safe for my purpose. The tongue weight of my Ascent is 500 lbs. I've also purchased a set of LED lights, (for the carrier), already fitted, from Etrailer, another excellent purchase. When I can get help to finally, get everything together, I will send pictures of the finished project. Etrailer.com has been great to work with, every purchase arrived in excellent condition, and all of their representatives I spoke to, have been very knowledgeable and helpful.

Thanks for the very professional follow-up on the Blue Ox products I bought. In the end, I only used the set-up for about 3,000 miles before I changed my rig from a Class C towing a Jeep Wrangler using the Blue Ox parts to a Jeep Grand Cherokee towing an Airstream. Everything worked just fine for those 3,000 miles and all the parts have been sold on, practically as new, [on-line].

The Blue Ox Towbar Drop or Rise Receiver part # BX88130 is a good option for a 6" rise/drop since it has a 600 lb tongue weight rating. That said, adding an adapter is going to increase play/wobble there is no way around this. However, you can minimize this with a stability device, the Blue Ox Hitch Receiver Immobilizer II part # BX88224 is what I recommend.
