Video Transcript for An In-Depth Look at the Receiver Adapter for Blue Ox Allure Tow Bar

Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. And today, we're gonna take a look at this receiver adapter for the Blue Ox Allure tow bar. Now, if you have the Blue Ox Allure non-binding tow bar with the lunette ring and you wanna connect that tow bar to your RV's two-inch trailer hitch receiver, then this is the adapter that you are going to need. On your screen, I am including our item number to that Allure tow bar for your reference. And this adapter is going to replace the lunette ring on your Blue Ox Allure tow bar.

You're just gonna remove your lunette ring and use the existing hardware to install this adapter on your tow bar. Now, your tow bar will then have the ability to connect directly to your RV's two-inch trailer hitch receiver. And as you have no doubt already noticed, this adapter features three swivel points that will allow for easy hook up and smooth operation. So, it's not going to be as noisy as your lunette ring connection. Now, a pin and clip are included.

And to give you an idea of the size of this and if this is going to fit your application, let me go ahead and give you some measurements. And what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna be measuring from our weld here to these hitch pin holes. So, let me go ahead and line up my tape measure there. And so, from the weld to our first hitch pin hole, we are sitting right at 9 1/2 inches. And then to our second hitch pin hole, we are sitting right at 11 1/2 inches.

So, that should give you plenty of clearance between your RV's receiver and your flat tow setup. And then to give you an idea of just the overall size of this, I'm gonna be measuring from our mounting hole to our hitch pin hole. So, I'm gonna lay my tape measure up there. And so, as you can see, from the mounting holes to our first hitch pin hole, we're right at about 18 inches long. And then to our second hitch pin hole, we're right at about 20 inches long.

So hopefully, that'll give you an idea of the size of this and then kind of give you an idea of the clearance as well. So again, this is going to be a very easy installation. Speaking of installation, you are gonna get some installation instructions. And that's going to conclude our look today. I do hope that it was very helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me..

  • Tow Bar Recommendation for Connecting to Pintle and Trailer Hitch Receiver
The only solution we have is a tow bar that uses a lunette ring designed to attach to a pintle. It might be more than you want to spend for one time use. But if you think you may run into this situation again it would be nice to have a solution. The Blue Ox Allure Tow Bar part # BX7460P would be the tow bar to use to attach to a pintle. With this tow bar you can also get an adapter to go back to a receiver mount like what you are currently using. For that you would want the part # BX88249....

  • Tow Bar Recommended to Tow a 2016 Ford F-250 Behind Farm Equipment
With a truck that heavy you're kind of limited on your options. The easiest to connect each time is the Blue Ox # BX7302P but you need a pintle hitch on the vehicle that's towing the truck. If you prefer not to use the lunette ring it can be changed out for a standard coupler # BX88248 or receiver adapter # BX88249. You also need a base plate kit for the F-250, part # BX2618. Once you have the base plates installed and connect the tow bar to the base plates it stays on the truck full time.

It is often the case that some vehicle accessories will interfere with installation of other items. In the case of pickup trucks, for instance, very often a tonneau cover and a ladder rack cannot both be installed since these products usually use the same installation points. The same is true for front-mount accessories such as a front hitch or snow plow mount interfering with installation of a set of flat towing base plates. No hitch maker and no base plate maker will give you (or us)...

What you are looking for is referred to as a swivel hitch. We don't have anything like it, but if you are interested in making one, I recommend the coupler # DL23870 and then using the Receiver Adapter for Blue Ox Allure Tow Bar - 2" x 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver # BX88249 for your swivel. This will give you compatible parts to allow you to connect your trailer and have the movement you are seeking.
