Jeff: Hello everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're going to take a look at this wire rope tensioner for the Bulldog Winch 16,500 pound and 18,500 pound heavy-duty off-road winches. Now lots of times the wire rope on your winch is always tying down the spool itself off the winch drum. Or when you wind it back in, it not go on the drum correctly. So winch tensioner like this is designed to help hold the rope in place on the drum and also push the winch rope down against the drum so that it winds in one layer at a time.

The rope tensioners, this one here is for your Bulldog Winch Heavy-duty Off-road winches, holds the wire rope in place, helps prevent accidental unspooling.Basically what it does is it uses this spring-loaded load bar here to push against the rope and keep it in place, make sure it lays down uniformly. The bracket down here is what will attach to the rear of the winch frame and round bars held up against the wire rope by these dual springs right here and prevents any unspooling. Now, if you need to relieve the tension on it to adjust the wire or anything, it has this lift handle here that you can use and pull up and it'll hold the round bar away from the wire rope, and then you can adjust the rope how you need it. Now, this part is designed to work with the Bulldog 16,500 pound and 18,500 pound winches. There's four of those part numbers.
