Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at the replacement hardware kit for CE Smith Post-Style Guide-Ons. This kit replaces the mounting hardware on your post-style guide-ons for your boat trailer. The kit includes two mounting brackets. The brackets can be mounted above or below your trailer frame. It comes with two sets of mounting U-bolts. It has the two post caps, constructed from a PVC and they're white in color.
And then it comes with all necessary lock nuts and washers. The product is made from steel so it's strong and durable. These brackets, galvanized, and then the hardware is zinc-plated to resist rust and corrosion. The product's made in the U.S.A.I do want to show you the instructions that come with the kit because it can be installed a few other ways. You'll notice that one set of the brackets has this little raised hump in the middle.
That's because on narrow C-channels you can actually cross the brackets. Then, on a wide I beam, you would install it this way without crossing them. Then also on a wide box frame you would install it the same way, so without crossing them. Again, the brackets can be mounted above or below the trailer frame, but I did want to show you these different examples of how the brackets would install, and how the U-bolts would install to your trailer frame.Now we'll take a minute and just go over some basic measurements for you. When it comes to the dimensions of the U-bolt, each one measures the same.
So from the bottom of this portion here to the end of the threaded portion, that measures five inches long. Then the distance that we have between each post, that's the opening here in the center, is about 3-1/2 inches. The brackets, these brackets measure 4-5/8 inches long by 3-7/8 inches wide. The opening of each bracket measures about 1-11/16 of an inch. So right in between 1-5/8 and 1-7/8.Again, steel construction.
Galvanized finish on the brackets. Zinc-plated coating on the hardware. PVC construction on the post caps and then these have an opening measurement of 2-3/8 inches.That's going to do it for today's look at the replacement hardware kit for CE Smith Post-Style Guide-Ons.

Includes all brackets and hardware.I drove to 6 stores - an auto parts store, wal-mart, lowes, home depot, northern freight and West Marine. Nobody had stainless steel u bolts or brackets to re-attach my boat trailers guide posts. The closest was West Marine, and they only sold entire guide post kits. I just wanted the bracket hardware and ubolts.
etrailer had exactly what I needed and after receving them, in 5 minutes I had both guide posts solid on my trailer again.
The product was as expected. However, The brackets, u-bolts, and uprights were not sufficiently protected from rust. I use my trailer in salt water and all of the parts had to be primed and painted before installation. An up-charge for galvanizing would be acceptable.
Regarding the order, this web site and order processing is the best in the e-mail ordering business. I wish all others would try it and do what etrailer does. You could sell this philosophy.

I have not completed install but believe this is going to work fine for my project.
These brackets mounted the guide posts more solidly than I expected. I’ll have to see how long they last in salt water since they sent galvanized.
Joe - 10/20/2021I purchased this hardware for a saltwater trailer that I use frequently because the original brackets corroded away. The hardware package was easy to install and the metal was heavier gauge than the original. Highly recommended for the advertised application.

I'm using this product in conjunction with some existing steps on the tongue of my boat trailer to create a hand rail for stability when climbing into the bow of my boat. I think it's going to work very well for that purpose
I made the mistake of not reading reviews before buying. I assumed that the components of this kit were galvanized, since it is made for marine use. The uncoated nuts/ washers and u-bolts can be bought at a hardware store. The bracket itself had some type of coating, definately not heavy galvanizing.
Had to get Coupling nuts and 3/8" treaded rod as the u bolts weren't long enough.

Great Product. Galvanized bracket a plus since I run in saltwater.
My only beef is that the special clamps are not galvanized.
They still last a long time but when you have to remove them
it can be very difficult. I would rather pay extra for stainless or
galvanized. k

The boat trailer on which I will be placing guide-on bracket kit has served me faithfully for 30 years. I don't think the trailer or my 17 ft. PolarKraft boat will ever wear-out. I know there are many bass and crappie that fear seeing that boat in the water.
This bracket kit will add many more years to my good times in that boat. The kit seems to be made of excellent material.
If you get your own PVC piping make sure you cut a notch at the bottom as seen on the directions before you install. Also, don't make the mistake i did and run the wiring before drilling the hole at the bottom of the bracket and PVC pipe. Overall, very happy, solid material and easy to install. I have a 17' grizzly bass tracker and it installed easily on the frame near the license plate.
It does not get any better then this design, fits almost any trailer you have and is as easy as it gets to add or replace. Good quality and good price, helps in keeping the trailer in great shape in the years of service.
Philip D - 10/10/2017Bought these guide post brackets about a year ago. They were exactly what I needed to add a pair of boat guides to my trailer. After many trips to the boat ramp you can easily see that they still look like new with no corrosion whatsoever. etrailer is terrific at fulfilling and getting all of my orders to me in the fastest way possible.
Good quality and thought this product is made in USA. It is easy to assemble on the trailer.
