Install your Curt electric trailer brake controller quickly and easily with this custom wiring adapter. One end plugs into your Curt trailer brake controller while the other end splices into your vehicle's wiring.
Features:
To install your Curt electric brake controller, you need to connect the wiring of the controller to your vehicle. Certain auto manufacturers offer pre-wired options, typically known as tow packages, wherein wiring is run for you from the dash to the trailer connector on the back of your vehicle. Usually when this is done, a port is installed at your dash so that you can easily plug in a brake controller. However, if no port is present, you will have to splice into your wiring.
With this adapter, you can install your Curt brake controller without having to wire the controller directly to your vehicle. If your vehicle has a factory tow package, just splice the pigtail end of the adapter into your vehicle's factory brake control harness wiring, and then plug the other end of the adapter into the controller. If your vehicle doesn't have a factory tow package, you'll have to hardwire the pigtail end of the adapter into your vehicle's wiring. Because only the adapter is hardwired to your vehicle, you can unplug and remove your brake controller at any time to transfer it to another vehicle or securely stow it away.
If your vehicle is not equipped with a factory tow package, you will need to purchase additional equipment to ensure that the signals from your brake controller are sent to your trailer's brakes. Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at the CURT Custom Brake Controller Wiring Adapter for Sprinter Vans. Now, this is a custom fit part. It is designed to fit the 2019 to 2022 Freight Liner and Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 1500, 2500, 3500, and the 4500 vans that have the factory tow package. And since it's a custom fit part, I do like to recommend for you to go to our website, use the fit guide, put in your year and model of vehicle, and it'll show if this will work for your application.
Now, this wiring adapter will ease the installation of your CURT Electric Trailer Brake Controller to your vehicle. Basically, the wire end right here is what'll splice into your vehicle's wiring. The other end right here plugs into the back of your electric brake controller. If you notice, it does come with the four wire taps for making your wire connections, and then two small cable ties that take up any slack in the wiring. Now, what makes this a custom fit for the Sprinters is that it is an inline diode that eliminates the vehicle brake light signal that can cause fault codes during manual override, while retaining trailer light use.
It does also reduce the input voltage from the vehicle for proper brake controller function. What's nice with this, the plugin, you can unplug it and then remove your brake controller at any time to transfer it to another vehicle, or securely stow it away. This is compatible with time delayed and proportional brake controllers from CURT. Now, the brake controller you plug this into must have the built-in plug for this adapter to connect. It will not work on controllers that just have a pigtail wiring harness.
Now, the length of the wire here, we got it bundled up, but if I cut that and extended it out, it will get you about two feet long. And they are 12 gauge size wires, and they have this nice protective wire loom over them to prevent any damage to the wires.
