Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com. And today we're gonna take a quick look at this two-inch hitch cap sensor for your GMC Sierra MultiPro and Chevy Silverado Multi-Flex tailgates. Now this sensor is going to prevent the deployment of your inner tailgate panel with step when a ball mount is installed in your trailer hitch receiver. So this is designed for your 2019 and newer GMC Sierra MultiPro tailgates and then your 2021 and newer Chevrolet Silverado Multi-Flex tailgates. Now this is going to be a quick and easy installation. This is going to require no wire cutting or splicing.

This is going to plug in between your taillight wiring harness and the internal tailgate locking mechanism. And the body of this sensor itself, this is just going to fit around your trailer hitch receiver. And as you can see, I do have this kind of loosely put together with the included hardware, but I just kind of wanted to give you an idea of what this is going to look like when this is over or around your trailer hitch receiver on the back of your truck. When this flap is closed, that's going to act as a hitch cover to keep debris and things like that from getting into your trailer hit receiver. And then when this is open, when this is all hooked up, this is going to prevent you from opening up that Multi-Flex or MultiPro tailgate so you're not going to be able to bring that step down when this flap is up.

Because when this flap is up, it is basically signaling that you have something in your trailer hit receiver. But then when it's closed, you're going to be able then to activate that tailgate panel with the step when this flap is closed. So it's a really neat idea and it's going to be a very easy installation. This sleek durable design is going to be suited for all work conditions and it's not going to obstruct your trailer hitch or towing accessories. And this supports a plastic construction with its black finish, so it's gonna match virtually anything.

And it is IP67 rated for water submersion and dust protection. So it includes everything that you see here. It includes the sensor cap, the wiring harness that I do have connected here. Again, just to give you an idea of how this is going to connect, you're gonna get several cable ties and then instructions to walk you through the easy installation process.
