Video Transcript for Curt Threaded Quick Link: The Breakdown

Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer, and today we have the CURT Threaded Quick Link in a half inch diameter with a 3,300 pound working load limit. Now these are handy for a bunch of different reasons, but the reason we're using them today and a prime example of how they come in handy is gonna be when you tow anything you're gonna have safety cables. So whether it be a flat tow or a trailer, and sometimes the clevis hooks (hook clinks) or whatever hooks you may have, may not fit on the hitch. And that's where we we're here. We couldn't get this to latch on, and that's gonna make it not a safe towing experience. So, the way to fix this is put our quick link on here, (quick link rattles) and this is gonna make it a nice mounting point for our safety chain to go on.

And the great part too is there's no tools required. I can simply thread this on by hand and that's gonna stay in place. Now these are also zinc coated, so they're gonna hold up to corrosion. And if these do seize up for whatever reason, generally it's gonna take a long time and no problem. You can simply just put a crescent wrench on here and knock those loose pretty easily.

And whenever you're ready to hook up, super simple, just clip on. Now, not only does it work for hooking up your safety cables, but also if you need to get some chains attached to each other, this can be the link between them. And it's nice to have on hand in case you do have a chain break. This is the way that you can fix that. So it's just a nice little benefit.

It's got a bunch of different uses. And the main thing is, it's heavy duty. So this has a working load limit of 3,300 pounds, which is pretty strong. But the brake limit is 16,500. So very, very heavy duty.

So you can use this in a lot of different applications. Now these do come individually as a quantity of one, so pick up as many as you need. And having these on hand means that you're gonna be ready just in case the chain breaks or if you need to hook up to anything. And that was a look at the CURT Threaded Quick Link.

Poor packaging like always. These were thrown in a box of marker lights, causing damage to the lights during shipping. etrailer never reads my reviews and fixes this issue, which I complain about every time I order the lights that these quick links caused damage too in the box. See photos.

Great connector for safety cables on my boat.

After a year, the connectors still look and perform like new.

by:

I use these to attach straps to my trailer tie downs. Since the surface on the tie down points is a little rough, they would wear down the fabric on the straps. These quick links are perfectly smooth and were the perfect solution for my purpose.

by:

I needed a link to attach my safety chains to my trailer . These were perfect. Definitely overkill but
Over design is not bad when talking safety .

Thanks

by:

I am glad you wrote me the links I recieved do not fit the inteded
application. I have a 2019 GMC Sierra 2500HD. The hooks do not open
wide enough to slip through the trailer hook holes.

by:

surved my purposes. bought it twice!

by:

Just barely fit on my f-250 receiver, but will work.

  • Weight Capacity Of The JR Products 1/2" Diameter Quick Links
I called and emailed JR Products multiple times with no response so instead of purchasing the Quick Links - 1/2" # 37201345 I recommend going with the Curt Threaded Quick Link - 1/2" Diameter # C82932, which have a safe working weight load of 3,300lbs and a break strength load limit of 16,500lbs. They are approximately 4-1/4" in overall length and 1-3/4" in width. This does come in a quantity of one so you will need to order two if you're using these to add on an extension for your safety...

  • Quick Link Recommendation for 7,700 lb Safety Chain Application
The Curt quick link part # C82932 has two ratings. 3,300 lbs where it is safe to be used at all the time without fatiguing it and the break strength which is 16.5k. Two of these would be good for 6,600 in a safe load limit. For a safety chain situation where it's going to be all the capacity at once plus some inertia I'd not recommend them. The part # BX88197 is a similar 1/2 inch diameter link that is designed for use with 10k safety cables so it would be the better option.

  • Safety Chain Recommendation for 6 x 10 Trailer that Weighs 3k
Hey Neil, for a trailer that size and weight the 30 inch safety chains part # TCTSCG30-730-04x1 would work great as this is the typical size and capacity for a trailer that size. You would need to order a quantity of two of these. Each is rated for 5,000 lbs. To attach to your trailer frame you could use the part # C82932 as well.

  • Quick Link Availability that has 10k Capacity for Use with Safety Chains
The part # RM-910022 is rated for 6,000 lbs so would not be a good choice for your setup that tows a 7,500 lb trailer but the part # C82932 has a 3,300lb safe working load capacity and 16,500lb break strength capacity, which would be way to go.

With the quick link # C82932 closed the inside measures 3-5/16 inches by 3/4 inches at the nut or 7/8 inches away from the nut. This is shown in the video I have linked for you. I also made a picture showing the measurements.

  • Can You Use Quick Links With Saftey Cables On A Trailer
Yes, you can use a quick link like # C82932 to attach your Curt Saftey Cables # C80176, however each component must exceed or meet the GVWR of your trailer. So if your trailer is 12,000lbs, you'd need quick links that are also rated for at least 12,000lbs. The quick link mentioned above # C82932 is rated for a maximum of 16,500 pounds, and a working load limit of 3,300 pounds.

The Buyers Products Chains part numbers # 337BSC3835 and # 337B03835SC both weigh 5 lbs and the part # TCTSCG30-730-04X1 weighs 2 lbs. For installing any of the mentioned chains we recommend using the weld on bracket # MB38 with the quick link part # C82932 on your trailer.

The heaviest I have available is the Threaded Quick Link part # C82932. I put these on my dad's 2019 for this same reason. They have a break strength of 16,500lbs each and a safe working load limit of 3300 lb each for a 6600 lb total.

  • Solution for Attaching Safety Chains to Loops on 2018 Ford Truck Factory Hitch
You are not the first customer to have issues with the safety chain hooks on the OEM trailer hitch for your 2018 Ford truck. Using a quick link like the Curt # C82932 that you referenced might be a good option, as long as the gap on the link is large enough to fit around the loops. When opened, the Quick Link has a gap that measures 5/8" of an inch and the inside length is 3-5/16 inches. I have attached a video to clarify these dimensions. If this is not large enough, another solution...

The trailer hitch on the truck is what supports the extension. The extension is designed to fit in a 2-1/2 inch receiver (measuring on the inside) and the receiver part of the extension has a 2 inch receiver opening. The only thing you need for the extension is a properly sized hitch pin like # 37201065. For lateral, back and forth movement of the extension, it is normal to see some play. Reese does not make any lateral stabilization chains for the Titan extensions. You will need to attach...

  • Weight Load Range for Roadmaster Cable Connector Set # RM-910022
I contacted the manufacturer to find out the load range for this product, part # RM-910022. It is specified for a 2000 pound snap rating. Please note that cable connectors of this type are designed and rated specifically for a horizontal line pull application (but not for hoisting or lifting). The capacities quoted by manufacturers are for this type of application only. I suggest you consider Hidden Hitch part # C82932, which also comes as a set of two. These half-inch Quick Links have...

  • Are Safety Chains Required when Using a Reese Goosebox 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Adapter
Safety chains are always a good idea whether they are required or not. Basically, you need to check with the local and state laws where you will be traveling to determine the safety chain requirements. Normally, 5th wheel trailers do not require safety chains but it can get a little convoluted when you introduce an adapter into the equation. As far as where to connect chains when using a Goosebox if there is an unused bolt hole you can get a quick link in, like # C82932, that is one option.

  • Chain Extension for Weight Distribution Hitch
Yes the Curt Threaded Quick Link # C82932 will work to extend your safety chains to reach the loops on your hitch as long as they links are big enough to fit around your chains and the loops. • Do Safety Chain Extension Links Have to Exceed Weight of Tow Vehicle
Safety chain extension links simply need to match the size and capacities of your current safety chains. For example, if your chains were 1/2" diameter with a 16,500 lbs break strength and 3,300 lb working load limit you would want the Threaded Quick Link - 1/2" Diameter # C82932. In regards to just the capacity for chains, the combined ratings of two safety chains should simply exceed the capacity of what you are towing. So for example two of the Curt Safety Chain with S-Hooks - 47" Long...

This quick link has a 10,000 lb weight capacity so it will not limited the capacity of your safety chains. If you are needing a quick connect for a different application then I recommend the Safety Chain Quick Link # C82932 which is rated for 16,500 lbs and has a 3,300 lb safe working load limit. • How to Reduce Receiver Play and Use Chain Loops on the Titan Hitch Box Extension # RP45292
The play that you are experiencing with the Titan Hitch Box Extension, # RP45292, is normal. This is present because of manufacturing tolerance differences between the hitch extension and receiver and the length of the extension is magnifying the play. It would be a good idea to go with a Hitch Immobilizer, # BX88225 to eliminate as much movement as possible with the extension, but it is not required. Just be sure that when installing the immobilizer that you do not tighten it so much...

  • Replacement Safety Chain Quick Links for 7000-lbs GVWR Travel Trailer
The short answer to your question is, yes. You can use the Curt Safety Chain Quick Link # C82932 to keep your current safety chains in good working. The safe working load limit that you see on products like the Curt Safety Chain Quick Link # C82932 has to do with everyday use. The exact link or replacement safety chain you need will depend on the weight of the trailer.
