Video Transcript for Review of Deka - Wiring - DW04362

Today, we're taking a look at a Deka overmolded battery cable harness assembly. Now, this is a really simple design. What this does is it simply connects two batteries together. The overmolding is designed to protect the wiring. It's constructed of two AWG gauge PVC starter cable, and it does come with the protective caps that will go over and actually seal the battery connections. This unit's red in color, so it'd be great for the positive side of the battery. Red is the general color for that, and black is general for negative. It fits group 31 batteries with a three-eighth inch stud type. The terminals, which are these right here, these are separated, apart from one another on center by seven inches, and then the overall length of the unit measures around 10 inches.Product's also made in the USA.

That's going to do it for today's look at the Deka overmolded battery cable harness assembly.

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Battery Connection and Issues if Connected Wrong
Thanks for the photos. The batteries are connected in parallel which means the power output remains the same but the capacity doubles. The throw switch in this wiring is simply to connect the two batteries together and makes removing one battery easy if needed. The Deka 2/0 Gauge Overmolded Battery Cable Harness Assembly - Red - 7" Long # DW04362 you asked from is a better connection with thicker gauge wire for better transfer which also makes connection and disconnection easy and less...

  • Recommendation for Wiring 2 Batteries On Trailer
When wiring two batteries for 12V use you will want to connect the batteries in parallel. You will connect the positive terminals to each other and the negative terminals to each other. You will run a wire from the negative terminal on one battery to the metal frame of your trailer, and then you will run the opposite batteries positive terminal to the wiring connection on your trailer that will correspond to the 1 o'clock pin on our towing vehicle. Usually you will want to use cables...

  • Wiring Two Batteries on 1996 Komfort 5th Wheel Trailer
Your Komfort 5th wheel trailer will run on 12V power. To know how to best wire the batteries it is important to know what batteries are being used. If you have two 6V batteries which are normally smaller in size, you will wire them in series so you will get the 12V output needed. If you have 12V batteries, then you will want to wire them in parallel so you will have the 12V output needed. To know which batteries you have, the 6V or 12V will be clearly labeled on the battery itself....

  • Can Batteries Connected in Parallel Each Connect to Chassis Ground Instead of Each Other
Technically, you could connect each of you batteries' negative terminals to chassis. As long as the two positive terminals are connected to each other, you'll still achieve the same result: double the capacity and while retaining a 12V output. That being said, it's typically recommended to connect both negative terminals on the batteries together, and only ground one to chassis. This is because that creates the best and most secure connection. I recommend using the Deka 2/0 Gauge Overmolded...

  • Should Trailer Mounted Batteries Be Grounded to Trailer Frame
The batteries should indeed be grounded to the trailer frame. A battery disconnect switch like # 277-000096 would install inline on the positive circuit of the battery as shown in the video I've linked for you.

  • What Gauge Wire Should be Used to Connect Two 24V Marine Batteries in Parallel
You can definitely use 10 Gauge Wire, like part # 10-1-1, to connect your 24V batteries in parallel, however, I do have a simpler solution for you. The amp hour life of your batteries would be the deciding factor of how long you can run your lights and electronics. Without knowing the type of battery, I can't really give any idea as to the length of time before they were depleted. For instance, deep cycle batteries will run longer. To connect two 6 volt batteries to get 12 volt output you will want to connect them in series. If you want to connect 4 batteries, then you would connect two sets in series and then connect the two sets...
