  • Can Electric Brakes be Added to Trailer that Currently Has Idler Hub Installed
You can indeed add electric brakes to a trailer that is equipped with idler hub assemblies. With regards to the axle, you will want to check and see if the axle on your trailer has brake mounting flanged attached. If one is present (see attached image), then nothing on the axle itself needs to be replaced or altered. You will just move on to locating the correct hub and drum assemblies, brake assemblies, and wiring in order to equip the trailer with electric brakes. If there is not a...

  • Trailer Brake Flange for a 3500-LB Axle
Typically, 3500-lb axles have a 2-3/8" diameter. If this is your correct axle diameter, then the correct mounting flange for you is part # 4-35. If your correct axle diameter is in fact 3", then the correct mounting flange is part # DM52415. We do not have a 2-7/8" axle option. Either way, the flange will need to be welded on, so I recommend having a professional welder do this so they perfectly aligned.

  • How To Determine Parts Needed To Add Electric Brakes To Stehl ST80TD Tow Dolly
I would be happy to recommend the parts needed to add electric brakes and new bearings on your 2010 Stehl ST80TD Tow Dolly, but first I will need you to confirm which bearings your spindle uses and if you already have a brake mounting flange installed. I reached out to Stehl with the VIN number you provided for your 2010 Stehl ST80TD Tow dolly and they were unable to provide any information on which bearings your dolly uses. I recommend removing the hub from one of the spindles, and checking...

  • Electric Trailer Brakes for 4-Bolt Flange 2-5/8" x 3-5/8" Apart
I do have an option for you but none of our trailer brake assemblies are designed for this brake mounting flange pattern. Therefore, I recommend new flanges which will need welded to the axle; part # 4-34 for 1-3/4"axles, part # 4-35 for 2-3/8" axles, and part # DM52415 for 3" axles.

  • Availability of 4 Bolt Mounting Flange for Electric Brake Assemblies
It sounds like you are looking for a brake mounting flange for your trailer axle. For 4 bolt mounting flanges, we have the following plates available: For 3-1/2 inch axles: # 4-50 For 3 inch axles: # DM52415 For 2-3/8 inch axles: # 4-35 For 2-3/4 inch axles: # DM60124 For 1-3/4 inch axles: # 4-34 Brake mount flanges will need to be welded to the end of your axle and will provide a secure mounting place for the brake assemblies. I recommend having a qualified welder perform the installation.

  • Can Electric Trailer Brakes Be Added To A Boat Trailer
With the quality of materials and better wiring insulation on modern electric trailer brakes, you can definitely use them on a boat trailer like your single axle Custom Performance trailer for your Catalina 22 sailboat. I would still recommend unplugging the trailer connector from your vehicle when backing the trailer in the water as an extra layer of security. Now to determine the correct brakes, and components necessary you will need to find a few key bits of information on your trailers...

  • Troubleshooting Installation of Electric Brakes With 4 Bolt Brake Flange
The measurements for the brake flange and the bolt pattern on trailer brakes is a center to center measurement, not outside to outside. The electric brakes you have appear to be using the industry standard which is typically listed as 2-3/4" or 2-7/8" with the actual dimension being more like 2-13/16". I can't exactly tell by the pictures but it looks like the two measurements you have there are incredibly close so if you have not tried to install these I recommend double checking to...

  • Replacement Drum Brakes and Hubs for 3500-lb AL-KO Axles
You can use larger brakes and hubs by matching up the brake mounting pattern to your flanges and by selecting new hubs that use the same bearing set as your current hubs. Matching the bearings will ensure the new hubs fit properly on your spindles. The linked photo shows the usual location of bearing numbers. If you wanted to use 4-bolt AxleTek # AKEBRK-35L and # AKEBRK-35R electric drum brakes and if your hubs use inner/outer bearings # L68149 and # L44649 you could use hub/drum # AKHD-545-35-K....
