Video Transcript for Dexter Axle Torflex Lift Kit Review

Hi there, trailer owners. Today, we're going to be taking a look at Dexter's Torflex Lift Kit. These are compatible with Dexter's Torflex Axles. This truck lift kit is going to work with your Dexter Axles and your trailer to raise your trailer up. This is going to help level out your trailer. If your truck sits too high, leaving the front end of your trailer jacked up and the back of your trailer down when you're hauling your trailer, this could lead to scraping at the back of your trailer due to the angle, angling it down.

And by leveling out our trailer, it also helps to load the tongue weight properly on our truck. So this is overall just going to increase the driving experience that we're going to feel when hauling our trailer. Our customer had an issue with his truck being too high for his trailer, causing it to haul unlevel. After we got done installing the components here, we can see that our trailer is completely level all the way down, which is going to increase the driving experience inside of our truck just due to the way our trailer is going to handle. The weight's going to be properly distributed onto the back of our truck, which is going to allow us to get proper braking and handling performance at the front. Our customer also has a weight distribution system on here as well to help even out that weight.

All these components are going to work together just to give you the smoothest and best handling performance when driving your truck down the road when hauling your trailer.Other issues some trailers can run into, particularly if they have the swing out arm styles for their support system, is that in certain areas, depending on how level the ground is where you're at and if there's any rough terrain, some of those arms may hit the ground when you're trying to swing them out and then you can't level properly. You have to move it around and adjust until you can find that sweet spot. Lifting the trailer up a couple of inches is going to give you that clearance that you're going to need, so you can more easily get set up and ready to go at your campsite. And this is what our lift kit looks like when it's installed. I've got the wheels off so that you can see the spacers in place here between our axle and the frame. That's where it goes.

Going to give us greater clearance to the ground, so when we're hauling our trailer, we don't have to worry about as much issues with scraping on the ground, particularly if we have leveling jacks and things like that that are hanging down below. And in some cases, depending on your campsite where you park it, you may be so low to the ground in that particular spot that you can't even use your landing gear properly to level out your trailer because they just don't quite meet where they need to.By lifting it up, we get more room to work with on our landing gear so we can get those legs swung out and everything set up properly. And it can also help out with getting it properly set up with your truck. If your truck's lifted up higher than your trailer, then you can haul it uneven. And you want to try to haul it as even as possible to have the proper load and tongue weight on your truck's hitch at the back.

So something like this is going to lift it up and provide that for you. And you can see it comes with all the hardware that we need, brand new hardware for attaching both our axle to our bracket, as well as attaching our bracket to our trailer. One thing you'll want to keep in mind when performing this installation is that you are increasing the distance between your axle and your trailer here by about this much. And depending on your brakes that you have installed, whether they are electric or hydraulic, you may need to extend the wires or the hydraulic lines in order for this system to work properly with your trailer. On the one that we installed today, we did have to add a few inches to the wiring in order to lower it down and be able to have proper travel of our suspension without damaging the wires that go to our electric brakes. And when it comes to the installation, it's considerably easier than many other style of lift kits for different style of suspension. With this style here, with the TorkLift Axles, it's as simple as lifting your trailer up to where it hangs off the ground. You want to give yourself a considerable gap between the ground and your tires when you got it up to ensure that once you get your kit installed, you can get your wheels back on if you did take those off. I would recommend at least four inches between that when lifting it up. But once you got it lifted up, it's as simple as placing your jack underneath, lowering down one side, installing the spacer, and then moving onto the next one. I'd recommend finishing up this axle, doing the other side, and then moving on to your next one. And that completes our look at the Torflex Lift Kit.

I gave it a 3 based on my experience with installation, however it may have been the axles themselves that were the problem. 1) Couldn’t find a match on the etrailer website, so I had to speak with a rep to only give me Dexter axle’s phone number. 2) The first location for calling Dexter axle couldn’t help me either, so they gave me the number for where they were manufactured (tandem axles). 3) The 3rd call matched the serial numbers of my axles finally and gave me the kit # to order from etrailer. 4) The holes in the lift brackets were drilled for a minimum of 8” o/c, which was perfect for the trailer, but the axles were drilled at 7.75” o/c. This meant having to slot mill all 4 bracket for the axles .25” on each side for bolt clearance. 5) The original nuts and bolts that came off of my axles and trailer were .5” dia bolts, but the ones that came with the kit were WAY too big meaning I needed to either oversize (ream the axle and trailer holes) or buy new bolts, which is what I did. It has nothing to do with etrailers service. Just wanted people to know what they’re getting into with these lifts sometimes! :

Don't expect the paint on the Brackets to be whole, there is no way they can be with how they are packaged. Regardless, this is a very easy to install lift if you have any mechanical abilities and tools to safely lift your trailer. I called to several RV shops in my area and was quoted 800.00 - 2000.00 to install this kit. It took me 2 hours including hooking the truck to the trailer, gathering tools. Very straight forward install and is as described on the website. We have a 2014 Flagstaff Classic Ultra Light fifth wheel which is 1.5 ton towable and with our 1 ton sitting so high at stock ride height, the rear bumper of the trailer was close to dragging at the slightest dip. Well made and easy to install.

Still working great after a year of use. We have teaveled about 5,000 miles with the lift kit and it has continued to performed flawlessly.

Fit my 2017.5 Lance 2285 travel trailer perfectly. Installed myself over several days (1st day was just making sure I had the TT securely and safely raised--you basically have to lift it to where you have 3 inches of clearance below each tire). Take your time, buy or borrow the correct jack stands, jacks, torque wrench. etc. Read all of the instructions BEFORE you start. Safety first! You will find yourself under the TT at times. In my opinion, a level, hard surface is required to properly and safely support the TT. During install, I did notice slight side-to-side shift of the axle. Watch for this. It's easy to correct if you haven't already torqued the bolts! These arrived with scratches exposing bare metal, so I touched up the paint before installing to help prevent rust. Very happy with result. Have driven 150 miles (with TT fully loaded for dry camping) on a variety of roads and speeds and have had no issues. Don't forget to adjust your hitch too. This is not what I would call an easy job, especially getting the proper torque on the bolts! If I get another Lance TT, I'll make sure it has the lift kit already installed.

The Torflex Lift Kit solved my dragging issues! I store my trailer at my house in the country. When I would return, I have to go up a fairly big hill. The rear of the trailer would drag 75% of the time. I destroyed 2 scissor jacks before etrailer installed the lift kit. The etrailer guys were very professional and thorough. The guys adjusted my trailer hitch height to compensate for the lift. I also saw them test driving the trailer by running over some rumble strips. They were making sure the bolts were tight. I am very pleased with the install.

Great kit, great instructions. Took two of us less than two hours to install including relocating brake wires. (However the trailer floor had been removed to resolve other issues and I do trailer repairs for a living) This is exactly what my enclosed trailer needed along with going to a 225 series tire from a 205 I achieved 3” of lift. There were a couple scratches in the paint on my parts but if a guy was really worried a quick touch with a spray can would be fine. I put em on as is. etrailer had these parts to me in under a week on the left coast.

Installed lift on Lance 1985 to get the extra clearance for taking the trailer off road. Product is great, and it was a simple install (took right at 3 hours). I had to buy a 15/16" wrench in order to fit in the tight space, especially when doing the bolt in the side while the bolt to the bottom was in place. Torquing the nuts was a chore now that I am getting older. :) I used two jacks, one on each side of the axle to lower it uniformly (floor jack and bottle jack). I used two jack stands to hold up the trailer with wheels removed. (I had to raise the jack stands on wood to get the required elevation when I went to mount the tires.) Tools required were 15/16" open end wrench, 15/16" socket with 1/2" drive ratchet, 1/2" drive torque wrench capable of 150 ftlbs. I also used a 1/2" drive adjustable cheater bar to pry the existing bolts loose.

I needed this axle spacer kit due to insufficient wheel well clearance on the used 2008 Jayco trailer we purchased (it turns out that ~2400 trailers left the factory missing this spacer back in 2008). These spacers arrived quickly and in fine condition. They fit perfectly. NOTE: Installation went ok, but I did this in a campground, on gravel, and in 95-100° heat, so it was not easy and took me 2 full days. If someone performed this in cooler weather on a hard, flat surface it would go faster. Very satisfied with the quality and with etrailer (I have used etrailer 3 times prior and have had no problems).

I cannot comment on the installation as I had a mobile mechanic friend install it. 4hrs is what he charged me. The stance is much improved. I should have done it years ago.

The product fit my 2018 Lance 2285 camper perfectly. It was a relatively easy install. My only con is that the paint finish on the product is very poor. The paint was chipping off right out of the box. I ended up repainting the kit before installation. I've gone on two camper trips with the kit installed and the camper towed great! Without the kit, I would've bottomed out twice for sure.

Very simple install and works great!! I own a 2004 trail lite by r-vision and used these to gain ground clearance for the dump tank. These worked perfectly. Installation was simple. I used ramps to install instead of a Jack. It worked exceptionally well. Completed in about an hour. Drove over 3000 miles last year and stayed over 40 nights and had no issues. I wish I did it sooner.

Best thing ever! We wanted a lift on our Lance trailer but the available model we bought was missing this option. We were able to order this from eTrailer and had a local axle shop install for us. If we were handier we could have installed ourselves with the great instructions from etrailer. Perfect fit and we are so happy with the addition. No more dragging our tail in the driveway and we don’t have to worry about dips in the road anymore. Same product our Manufacturer installs and the kit from etrailer was faster and less expensive than buying (and waiting) for Lance to send.

The lift kit worked well on my dual axle toy hauler. Spent far more time worrying about how to accomplish the lift safely than it took to do it. One person can do the job, but a friend's willing help was very welcome. The instructions were okay but I found a better & safer way. Torcing the bolts to the required ft. lbs. was a challenge. I decided the safest way to accomplish the lift was to do one axle at a time. I bought heavy duty, tall, plastic ramps from Harbor Freight. I put a heavy paver behind the ramps to keep them from moving and then backed the rear axle (both sides) up on to the ramps. Then I loosened the front axle and worked on one side at a time with a jack under the axle on that side. After I finished lifting the front axle, I pulled forward off the ramps and repositioned the ramps & pavers in front of the front axle. I pulled the front axle up onto the ramps, and then installed the lift kit on the rear axle. Thus my 12' tall 26' long trailer was not hanging in the air on jack stands which would have scared the heck out of me with all 4 tires off as per the instructions.

I put this lift on 2019 united cargo trailer. What a difference. Rivers level and seems to pull and handle much better. And looks great. Must be a good product that wants a review after 1 year! That's impressive.

I bought the lift kit for my dual axle trailer, and it does what I intended. The additional ground clearance is welcome. The installation is simple and the fit is excellent. I've seen several complaints regarding the poor paint finish, and while the paint is not spectacular, I don't spend much time under the trailer admiring the underside, so its not an issue for me. One improvement would be for the factory to drill a hole in the rear gusset to allow the brake wiring harness to be zip tied up and out of the way of possible snags, which would disable the brakes. The customer either can tie the harness through the open bolt hole welded to the original bracket, which holds the wiring in a low position to be snagged, or drill their own hole in the rear gusset of the lift to zip tie the wiring out of harm's way. Details matter, and this one shouldn't be overlooked.

This is exactly what I was needing for my RV. I now have 3” clearance from the top of my tires to the bottom of my wheel well. I was rubbing if going over bumpy roads. I installed both sets by myself but would highly recommend having 2 people.

I ordered the Dexter K71-707-02 lift kit for my Haulmark Transport trailer. It was on back order and took two weeks to arrive but etailer.com communicate this to me with a phone call. I thought that was great customer service since most companies these days just email if anything. The product arrive as described accept for the poor quality finish. I stripped it down and re-painted it. That was not such a big deal since I painted all the parts as I installed them and touched up my axle, hubs and under body while the wheels were off. It installed easily and raised my trailer just as I needed. My trailer was so low it scraped on drives and the rear stabilizer jacks did not have enough room to deploy. Tip: The nuts in this kit are locking nuts and require a considerable amount of torque to tighten them. I used a pneumatic impact gun that made the job go much quicker.

The lift kit fixed the problem with tire clearance.

Comments
The product works as what was necessary. I need extra tire clearance in the wheel house. It did change the angle of the gate ramp and my show car drags the front spoiler on the ramp. I am still working on a simple solution to not drag the spoiler.

Over all I'm happy with the lift kit. (x2) I put it on my 1996 21' dual axial Aerolite trailer. The supplied bolts DID NOT FIT and DID NOT ALIGN with the original bolt pattern. For that reason, the install took a whole lot longer then I thought it would have. I tried to re-drill (enlarge the holes) on the trailer side, as they where the smaller holes. I tried a dremal with multiple different attachments, but ended up filing by hand. So after burning a full Saturday and an extra $100 for nuts/bolts/washers, I had the kit installed. Its been a year now and I'm loving the lift kit. Makes a world of difference in clearance.

- K71-707-02

Installation was simple, although since I didn't have the right socket it took a bit longer than expected due to a trip to the hardware store. Make sure to have a 24mm (15/16") deep socket for the bolts, plus a 1/2" drive extender to make your install go smooth. I used two bottle jacks to lift the trailer, then a floor jack to help drop the axles when needed. Good quality parts and very clear instructions, I would recommend this kit.

Although I didn’t install this product because I was away from home, it was simple and direct according to the instructions. It took my installer about 4 and a half hours to put it in. It went in as promised with no further alterations. It lifted my 2020 Lance travel trailer about 2 and a half inches. Now I can go into some camping spots that I use to hesitate in approaching. Very good price.

Since the sticker on your trailer axle says Dexter Number 10 that means the lift kit part # K71-707-02 is a confirmed fit and would give you an additional 2-5/8 inches of lift. This is the biggest lift we offer for your trailer/axle setup. I attached an install video for this for you to check out as well.

  • Determining if 2014 Rockwood Signature UltraLight 8282WS Has Lift Kit for It
Lift bracket info isn't listed on the axle info sticker like what you attached but what you can do is check out the picture I attached of the # K71-707-02 installed and then compare that to what your axle has. If you see a taller bracket than what's pictured or basically what might look like a lift kit then this wouldn't fit, but otherwise it would.

  • Correct Lift Kit for #10 Torflex Axle
I can absolutely confirm the correct lift kit for your trailer. Based on your photos, you do in fact have a #10 Torflex axle, and they are compatible with the lift kits because you do not have 3" high-profile brackets (which just means the bracket that attaches the axle to the frame of your trailer is 3" or higher). So the correct lift kit for a #10 Torflex axle will depend on if your trailer has a single axle or double axle: - Single Axle: Torflex Lift Kit # K71-707-01 - Double Axle:...

  • Lift Kit for 5,000 lb Dexter Torsion Axle
For your Dexter 5,000 lb Torflex torsion axles the lift kit that will work - so long as your axles are side-mounted #11 Torflex axles - is the Torflex Lift Kit # K71-724-02. Though this kit is meant for tandem axles - there aren't kits available designed for three axles - it will work for your trailer if it had a trio of #11 Torflex axles; you would just need to order two of them in order to get the needed parts for your trailer. I've added a link to a video review of this kit for you...

  • Lift Kit for 2011 Forest River R-Pod 171
Thanks for that info, and we have actually run across this exact same thing before, with the sticker on a 2011 R-Pod 171 saying Forest River Surveyor 37. What you have is a 3,000 lb Torflex axle and you were correct about the lift kit you need, which is the Torflex Lift Kit # K71-707-01. I have added a link to a video review for you to check out as well as a link to the installation instructions.

  • How to Decide Which Dexter Torflex Lift Kit to Use on New Trailer
To identify the type of Dexter Torflex axle you have on your trailer, there should be a tag or plate located somewhere on the axle itself that lists the part number and weight capacity. The weight capacity should be a good indication of what type of axle you have. I attached an example of a typical Dexter tag below. For example, the Dexter Torflex Kit # K71-724-02 is compatible with #11 Torflex axles with a 4,100-6,000 pound capacity. For #12 Torflex axles with 5,500-7,000 pound capacities...

  • Difference Between Available Dexter Torflex Lift Kits
The Dexter Torflex Lift Kits are designed for use with Torflex axles. The differences in the kits we have available have to do with the specific model Torflex axle they are compatible with, along with the number of axles that are on the trailer. The Dexter Torflex axles feature a torsion arm type suspension and attaches directly to the trailer frame. You will first want to make sure this is the type of axle you have on your trailer. The Torflex Lift Kit # K71-707-02 (Tandem Axle) is compatible...

  • Recommended Lift Kit for a 2009 Thor Skamper Kodiak 30BHSL
I do have lift kits available for torsion axle trailers however, I would need to know exactly what axle you have on your 2009 Thor Skamper Kodiak 30BHSL in order to recommend a set. In order to determine what type of torsion axle you have, you will need to look on the center of the axle for the axle tag. If you can provide me with the brand and model/serial number I would be happy to look this up for you. I have attached a list of our lift kits for you below. Lippert Square Torsion 3,500...

If you are comfortable working with tools then the install of the Torflex Lift Kit # K71-707-02 will take you about a day.
