Video Transcript for Detailed Breakdown of the Replacement 11" Rotor for Dexter Disc Brakes

Today we're gonna take a look at the replacement rotor for the Dexter Disc Brakes for eight on six and a half inch bolt pattern. Fits 10000 pound and 12000 pound axles. Now, this rotor is designed to fit the Dexter Heavy Duty 10000 pound and 12000 pound axles. It will fit both right hand or left hand side of the trailer. And it is vented, you can see right here, to help improve the heat dissipation. It is designed to mount to the hub with the eight mounting studs and nuts. Now, the hardware's not included to install that.

That we do sell separately on our website. If you notice, this does come standard with a black e-coat finish to help resist corrosion, and it is a cast steel construction. And the last thing I wanted to give you is the diameter of the rotor itself. So the diameter edge to edge is right at 11 inches. But that should do it for the review on the replacement rotor for the Dexter Disc Brakes with a eight on six and a half inch bolt pattern for 10000 pound and 12000 pound axles.

  • Hub and Rotor Replacement Kit for ALKO 12k Axles
The best solution we have is the Kodiak Disc Brake Kit - 11.35" Rotor - #120 Spindle - 12K - ALKO # K2HR12A11-120DW which is designed for your 12k ALKO brake setup. The Dexter rotor you mentioned would not fit and we do not have any rotors by themselves that fit your application.

  • Replacement Disc Brake Rotor for Dexter 10K/12K Axle
According to my research, the correct replacement rotor for your Dexter 12K Axle (Non-ABS) is the Replacement Rotor for Dexter Disc Brakes part # 070-006-01 which measures 11" in diameter. The Dexter 10K and 12K axles will both use the same rotor.

  • How to Install Replacement 11" Rotor for Dexter 10K or 12K Disc Brakes
Attached is a photo of how the Replacement 11" Rotor for Dexter Disc Brakes # 070-006-01 that you referenced fits with the hub. To replace your brake pads # BP04-395 you need to remove the bolts holding the old ones in place, take the cap off of your actuator, then use an old brake pad or some other material with a clamp to push the pistons on the caliper # BP18-045 so that they are flush with the rest of the caliper. Once this is done you can then reassemble the new pads on the caliper...

  • Do You Need To Remove The Hub From A Trailer Brake Assembly To Replace The Rotor?
Yes, you will have to remove the hub from the spindle to replace your brake rotors with new rotors like # 070-006-01. As far as a timeline go, if you're pretty experienced, you can expect this to take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour, however if you're not as experienced, you can expect this to take longer. When it comes to replacing your calipers with the rotors, if your caliper isn't damaged then there is no need to replace it.
