Exactly what I was looking for. Made in USA and perfect fitment

by:

This is a Dexter OEM brake assembly, so it was manufactured per Dexter spec's and quality control.

by:

Great value and an easy job for the average Joe!

A year later still working as should would highly recommend

High quality, perfect fit, easy installation, I highly recommend these.

by:

Great service. When your salesforce KNOWS product and application both sides WIN.

by:

I removed and reconditioned the axles on my snowmobile trailer. Salt corrosion damaged the brake assemblies. The replacements assemblies from etrailer.com bolted right on and made short work of the brake repair.

Perfectly functioning, dead reliable product

I bought a new car trailer with brakes on only 1 axle. etrailer had the exact same brakes for me to put on the second axle. These drum brakes were really easy to install, wire and adjust / re-adjust. I'd really recommend brakes on both axles if like me you're towing close to 7000lb. I've made a couple emergency stops around town, and didn't have the feeling i was being pushed by the trailer at all.
I'd also really recommend getting a high tech brake controller if you're buying one. I had a cheap one that really sucked, i had to constantly readjust brake power every time my speed varied (to stop being pushed by the trailer at speed or jerking to a stop at low speed). Annoying and dangerous IMO.

by:

I ordered a complete brake kit for my 6x10 wells cargo trailer (backing plates wiring, hub assemblies, junction box). The items were not packed well and the brake wire got shredded by the hub assemblies during shipping. A quick call to eTrailer and a replacement cable was sent out right away - great customer service! Installation of this kit was a breeze thanks to the instructional videos available on the eTrailer website. All the items are of excellent quality and everything fit together perfectly. One small wish would be to include the lock washers and nuts (4 per side) that are required to mount the backing plate instead of having to order it a la carte.

by:

Used these electric brake assemblies to replace the hydraulic units which became useless due to the master cylinder in the coupler becoming rusted and frozen up. Everything about the units was top notch and they bolted directly in place of the hydraulic backing plates. Shipping was fast with detailed follow up provided by Etrailer (probably the best of any internet company I've dealt with.)

Packaging was more than enough with more packing material and staples than was really required. ( 15 staples in the box ends alone where 5 would have been more than enough) Unfortunately, the assemblies were "nested" back to front into one another which caused the brake shoe of one unit to cut off the wire leads of the other. "Back to back" or "front to front" would have solved this issue which has happened to other customers. Additionally, the one plate had dust plugs for the brake adjuster provided while the other one had none. Both of these problems were minor but kept the experience from being totally outstanding.

by:

Still got to put them on, but they look good, I forgot to order the brake controller so I missed out on the free shipping,.
Can you make a recommendation for a controller, I have a 2004 Chevy Sub 1500. Nothing fancy

One of my favorite controllers is the Prodigy P2, part 90885. It has all the important features for a proportional controller, without extra bells and whistles that may be nice but not necessary. A relative new-comer to us, that has been received well so far is the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Brake Controller -, part # RED44FR-3015-S. It gives you a knob to install in your vehicles panel which takes up far less room then the brake controllers of the past.

by:

Added brakes to my 6X10 Wells Cargo enclosed trailer. They are working great. Easy install. As always, new trailer brakes take some time to wear in before you get full "lock - up" level braking. I'd buy these again. As always, great order and order fulfillment experience with etrailer.

by:

I completely rebuilt my trailer. The brake assemblies ordered were easy to install. It was much easier than trying to rebuild my existing brakes. The instructional videos from etrailer.com made the installation of the breakaway kit a breeze. Shipping was upgraded for free and received my order very quickly. It was a pleasure doing business with etrailer.com.

by:

A year ago I ordered 4 trailer brake assembly sets, brake drums and bearings. They arrived quickly and in good condition. Everything fit well and I had no problems when I towed my trailer across the country. I would definitely buy from Etrailer again.

OEM Made in USA and Dexter original. Exact fit. This is the best way to service brake systems especially on tandem axle applications. Great price, great service. Best with new nuts and lock washers and new Dexter drums and did I mention made in USA.

by:

Good service good product. Thank You

by:

Good product, just what I expected.
However,
be aware that it does not include the nuts for the 4 studs that hold the backing plate to the axle. You'll have to come up with those on your own.

Thank you. No problems.

I am refurbishing a vintage trailer and the previous owner had disconnected the brakes, not sure why. To be safe I decided to go brand new. These brake assemblies arrived in the factory package in good condition. They were easy to install and are working fine. As always the folks at etrailer.com are great to work with and always check up to insure that all is well and address any concerns. Thanks

by:

About a year ago I replaced all my existing breaks on my camper with these. Swapping them out was painless (first time doing so.) After getting the adjustment correct on the brakes and the brake controller they’ve worked great! We have a lot of hills where we live and camp almost every weekend May-October and have had no issues. I will double check in the spring but as of when we parked for the winter there was no need for adjustment yet, plenty of pad left for another season or two!

by:

Product was as advertised. Form, fit and function were excellant. Assembly was a breeze, especially with the non-polarity of the wires. Just bolt them on, plug them in, adjust them, and go. Recommend buyers also purchase the 4 nuts that hold each backing plate onto the trailer's mounting flange. They do not come with the assemblies, and 7/16 x 20 (fine thread) nuts are getting difficult to come by. I went to my local Lowes to purchase 16 nuts and lock washers for the 4 assemblies I purchased.. They only had 17 nuts in the entire store.

  • Will Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum # 845476UC3-EZ Work with Electric Brakes
Yes, the Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly # 845476UC3-EZ referenced in your question is compatible with both electric and hydraulic brake assemblies. This 3,500 pound hub works with 10 inch electric brake assemblies like the Dexter # 23-27 for the Right Hand and # 23-26 for the Left Hand. I have attached a short video demonstration on this hub and drum that you can also check out.

Dexter Right Hand Trailer Brake Actuating Arm # BP02-180 replaces this item on right brake assembly # 23-27. • Components Needed to Build a Trailer From Scratch with the Timbren Axle-Less System
I would be happy to help you put together the components you need to build your own trailer and do my best to keep the weight down. You are off to a good start with the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System - Spindle w/Brake Flange item # ASR1200S04. These weigh around 50 lbs. However, the brakes you linked item # 23-48 are for 7" hubs and we do not have any that will fit the Timbren systems so you will need to go up to 10" hubs and drums. • Can Dexter Brake Assembly 23-468-469 be Used Instead of 23-26 and 23-27
Yes, # 23-468-469 are 10" x 2-1/4" brake assemblies just like # 23-26 and # 23-27. Both sets have a 4 bolt brake flange pattern and are designed for 3,500 lb axles so they are interchangeable with one exception. If you have 13" wheels then the # 23-468-469 will not work for you. This brake assembly kit works with 14-15" wheels. I would definitely recommend these self-adjusting brakes. Not only is it more convenient, you also don't have to remember to make adjustments. Since they adjust...

You will likely need to replace the spindles also, if not the entire axle. • Using Dexter Brake Pads as Replacements on Hayes Brake Assembly
I can't recommend using a Dexter brake shoe on a Hayes/Al Ko brake assembly. The parts haven't been tested together for fit, so I honestly couldn't say if they'd work or not. The same would go for the return spring. Our usual recommendation is for folks to simply replace the entire brake assembly when the pads wear out. This way all your brake shoes, springs, adjuster and magnet are new as well. For a 10 inch brake drum, a 2-1/4 inch wide brake pad is what we have available. You can determine...
