Exactly what I was looking for. Made in USA and perfect fitment

A year later still working as should would highly recommend

Parts arrived two days early, were packaged very nicely and as ordered.

This is a Dexter OEM brake assembly, so it was manufactured per Dexter spec's and quality control.

High quality, perfect fit, easy installation, I highly recommend these.

Great service. When your salesforce KNOWS product and application both sides WIN.

I removed and reconditioned the axles on my snowmobile trailer. Salt corrosion damaged the brake assemblies. The replacements assemblies from bolted right on and made short work of the brake repair.

Jeff K.

Still working just fine.

We bought bearings, seals, brakes and brake drums for our horse trailer as we travel around with are furry pet.We give a A+ for quality, service and price .will use trailer for all are future needs. Thank you

Jim M.

Just great. We bought wheel bearings,Brake shoes and drum.I just repacked the wheel bearings and everything looks new.Your great company and a good price 2 thumbs up and 2 happy horses.

Fast, Friendly, Knowledgeable service.

I bought a new car trailer with brakes on only 1 axle. etrailer had the exact same brakes for me to put on the second axle. These drum brakes were really easy to install, wire and adjust / re-adjust. I'd really recommend brakes on both axles if like me you're towing close to 7000lb. I've made a couple emergency stops around town, and didn't have the feeling i was being pushed by the trailer at all.
I'd also really recommend getting a high tech brake controller if you're buying one. I had a cheap one that really sucked, i had to constantly readjust brake power every time my speed varied (to stop being pushed by the trailer at speed or jerking to a stop at low speed). Annoying and dangerous IMO.

Came as described, packaged i a “ bulletproof” package & parts went on without a hassle. Delivery was quick. Only company to trust in trailer maintenence

Perfectly functioning, dead reliable product

Still got to put them on, but they look good, I forgot to order the brake controller so I missed out on the free shipping,.
Can you make a recommendation for a controller, I have a 2004 Chevy Sub 1500. Nothing fancy

Etrailer Expert

Patrick B.

One of my favorite controllers is the Prodigy P2, part 90885. It has all the important features for a proportional controller, without extra bells and whistles that may be nice but not necessary. A relative new-comer to us, that has been received well so far is the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Brake Controller -, part # RED44FR-3015-S. It gives you a knob to install in your vehicles panel which takes up far less room then the brake controllers of the past.

Good product, just what I expected.
be aware that it does not include the nuts for the 4 studs that hold the backing plate to the axle. You'll have to come up with those on your own.

Slim R.

Thank you. No problems.

Used these electric brake assemblies to replace the hydraulic units which became useless due to the master cylinder in the coupler becoming rusted and frozen up. Everything about the units was top notch and they bolted directly in place of the hydraulic backing plates. Shipping was fast with detailed follow up provided by Etrailer (probably the best of any internet company I've dealt with.)

Packaging was more than enough with more packing material and staples than was really required. ( 15 staples in the box ends alone where 5 would have been more than enough) Unfortunately, the assemblies were "nested" back to front into one another which caused the brake shoe of one unit to cut off the wire leads of the other. "Back to back" or "front to front" would have solved this issue which has happened to other customers. Additionally, the one plate had dust plugs for the brake adjuster provided while the other one had none. Both of these problems were minor but kept the experience from being totally outstanding.

Good service good product. Thank You
Haas Brighton Mi.

I ordered a complete brake kit for my 6x10 wells cargo trailer (backing plates wiring, hub assemblies, junction box). The items were not packed well and the brake wire got shredded by the hub assemblies during shipping. A quick call to eTrailer and a replacement cable was sent out right away - great customer service! Installation of this kit was a breeze thanks to the instructional videos available on the eTrailer website. All the items are of excellent quality and everything fit together perfectly. One small wish would be to include the lock washers and nuts (4 per side) that are required to mount the backing plate instead of having to order it a la carte.

Good service good product. Thank You
Haas Brighton Mi.

Fit just like described.

Added brakes to my 6X10 Wells Cargo enclosed trailer. They are working great. Easy install. As always, new trailer brakes take some time to wear in before you get full "lock - up" level braking. I'd buy these again. As always, great order and order fulfillment experience with etrailer.

About a year ago I replaced all my existing breaks on my camper with these. Swapping them out was painless (first time doing so.) After getting the adjustment correct on the brakes and the brake controller they’ve worked great! We have a lot of hills where we live and camp almost every weekend May-October and have had no issues. I will double check in the spring but as of when we parked for the winter there was no need for adjustment yet, plenty of pad left for another season or two!

A year ago I ordered 4 trailer brake assembly sets, brake drums and bearings. They arrived quickly and in good condition. Everything fit well and I had no problems when I towed my trailer across the country. I would definitely buy from Etrailer again.

I completely rebuilt my trailer. The brake assemblies ordered were easy to install. It was much easier than trying to rebuild my existing brakes. The instructional videos from made the installation of the breakaway kit a breeze. Shipping was upgraded for free and received my order very quickly. It was a pleasure doing business with

I am refurbishing a vintage trailer and the previous owner had disconnected the brakes, not sure why. To be safe I decided to go brand new. These brake assemblies arrived in the factory package in good condition. They were easy to install and are working fine. As always the folks at are great to work with and always check up to insure that all is well and address any concerns. Thanks

Excellent product, quality and customer service.

OEM Made in USA and Dexter original. Exact fit. This is the best way to service brake systems especially on tandem axle applications. Great price, great service. Best with new nuts and lock washers and new Dexter drums and did I mention made in USA.

  • Troubleshooting Weak Trailer Brakes that Use 16 Gauge Wire
The last thing you mentioned is definitely the issue. 16 gauge wire is way too thin to carry the amperage needed to activate your brakes strongly. You should replace all of the wiring with 10 gauge wire like our part # 10-1-1 which is sold by the foot.

  • Brake Controller has Power Output When Vehicle Headlights are Turned On
What it sounds like is that the red wire on the brake controller is not connected to the correct wire on the brake switch above the brake pedal. To find the correct wire, you will need a circuit tester like # PTW2993 or multimeter like # PT89ZR. Find the wire that carries a signal or voltage ONLY when the brake pedal is pressed. There should not be a signal or voltage at any other time. So, if you find a wire that carries a signal when the brake is pressed but also has a signal if the lights...

  • Troubleshooting New Trailer Brake Magnets that are Weak
It sounds like you either have bad grounds for the brake assemblies or you are using too small of gauge for the brake assemblies themselves. The brake output circuit should be 10 gauge wire like the part # 10-1-1 which is sold by the foot. Make sure the ground wires of the assemblies are attached to a clean metal surface on the trailer's frame. You can try adding jumper wires from the trailer frame to the main ground of the trailer's wiring to see if that might help as well.

  • Replacement Electric Brake Assemblies for 3,500 lb Axle
Yes, the Dexter Nev-R-Adjust Electric Trailer Brake Kit # 23-468-469 will work for your 2007 Keystone Outback 25RSS. The 023-027-00 you mentioned is a reference to the right hand side Dexter Electric Trailer Brake Assembly # 23-27 which has the same dimensions and fit as the Brake Kit you asked about.

  • Replacement Hubs and Drum Brakes For a 2021 NuCamp TaB Trailer Using Dexter Axle Parts
Thank you for providing the Dexter part numbers Robert. For the brakes we have the Kit # 23-26-27 which contains both the Left # 23-26 and Right # 23-27 brake assemblies. You might consider upgrading to the Nev-R-Adjust Electric Trailer Brakes # 23-468-469 so you will no longer have to adjust the brakes every 3,000 miles. They will self adjust giving you much better brake feel as the pads wear. For the hub/drum we have the Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly # K08-426-91. The difference...

  • Troubleshooting Weak Trailer Brake Performance for Trailer Using 12 Gauge Wire
The issue seems to be that you used too light of a gauge of wire for the brake output circuit on the trailer. You really need to use 10 gauge wire like part # 10-1-1 which we offer by the foot for this circuit. Without the ability for the circuit to also carry the correct amperage to the assemblies as well as the voltage they won't apply strong enough.

  • How to Back Off Electric Drum Brakes
We actually have a video that demonstrates how to back off trailer brakes really well which I have attached for you to reference. If you jump to the 4:23 mark you can see how our installer both tightens and loosens the brakes. It can definitely be difficult in some circumstances, but if you were trying to see how it is done this video does a really good job at showing it (with the drum/hub assembly removed). The brake assemblies in this video are parts # 23-27 and # 23-26 for 3,500 lb axles.

  • How to Choose Replacement Drums and Brakes for a 1966 M416 Military Trailer
Due to the age of the trailer, we will want a little more information to make sure we get you the correct hub and drum assembly and brake assemblies. The best way to choose a replacement hub is by using the bearing and grease seal part numbers that are stamped into the metal cage of the bearing and the rubber of the seal. With these part numbers, I can cross reference the correct hub. If you cannot determine the part numbers of the bearings or seals, then the next best option is to measure...

On brake assembly part 23-27, everything picture is included. The backing plate, brake shoes, linkage, magnet arm and magnet. The same goes for the left hand side assembly, part # 23-26. I have linked to a video below that shows these very assemblies being installed on a trailer.

Its possible the hubs but I would make sure the new assemblies are properly adjusted and also worn in initially. You will want to have a light drag on the assemblies you can feel as you turn the wheel by hand. • Replacement Magnets for Brakes on 1977 Aristocrat 20 Foot RV
The brake magnet # BP01-110 you've mentioned is designed to work as a replacement for the magnets on the Dexter Electric Trailer Brake Assembly - 10" # 23-27 (right) and # 23-26 (left) that you mentioned. These brakes are 10" brake assemblies, so those would be the correct replacement magnets. Assuming that your hubs/drums are designed for use with 10" brake assemblies then everything you've mentioned is compatible and will work well. These components are typically found on 3500-lbs axles.

  • Do Electric Trailer Brakes Work in Forward and in Reverse
Yes, electric brake assemblies will work in reverse. The brake controller in your tow vehicle would still activate in reverse as long as the brakes are applied. The actuating arm of the Dexter assemblies part # 23-27 will apply the brakes when pushed in either direction. That means that in forward or reverse the assemblies will still apply trailer brakes.

  • Troubleshooting 8 Volts at Electric Trailer Brakes
Since you are getting 12 volts at the trailer connector and at each magnet individually it sounds like there is possibly a short between some of the brake magnets or, since you have 6 brake assemblies, maybe you are not using a wire that is thick enough. For a triple axle trailer, you should be using 10 gauge wire. I recommend replacing the wiring with # 10-2-1 and rewire the brakes. Often times, axle manufacturers will only use 12 and sometimes 14 gauge wire on their axles.

When installing brake assemblies like the Electric Brake Assembly, # 23-27, that you have referenced, there is no specific torque rating when tightening the nuts on the backing plate.
