Video Transcript for Replacement Drive-In Trailer Hub Wheel Stud: The Breakdown

Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at this replacement 5/8 inch diameter drive-in trailer hub wheel stud. Now, this part here will replace a drive-in 5/8 inch diameter wheel stud on your trailer hub. Basically, this wheel stud installs into the trailer hub and the wheel is put onto the stud and then a lug nut is used to hold the wheel to your hub. Installation for this, it is a drive-in design.

You can see the splines here that you'll drive then into the hub to hold it into place. It is for a quantity of one wheel stud. Last thing we'll do is just give you some dimensions on this. We mentioned the diameter is 5/8 of an inch. The length, and the length will be measured from under the head to the very end of the bolt, so if we put our ruler on that, you'll see there's your 2-3/4 inch measurement.

The thread length, which is the amount of thread on the end of the bolt, that's right at 1-1/2 inches. And the thread size is 18 threads per inch. So that makes the size of this bolt 5/8 inch by 18. But that's gonna do it for the review on this replacement 5/8 inch diameter drive-in trailer hub wheel stud.

  • Availability of Longer Replacement Wheel Studs for Hub on Dexter 8,000 Pound Axle
The answer to your question depends on the diameter and current length of your wheel studs on your hubs. I also do not know how much longer you want them to be. For example, if you have 5/8" diameter wheel studs that are 2" long you could use the # 7-232 which is 2-3/4" long. If you have 1/2" you could use the # 7-262 that are 2-11/16" long. For 9/16" you could use the # 7-257 which are 2-1/2" long. I have attached a link to all of our available wheel studs that can be filtered by length...

  • How To Find Correct Replacement Dexter Drive-In Wheel Stud
In order to choose the correct replacement wheel stud you'll need to take some very specific measurements of the spline and shaft. These measurements are listed on each product page for the replacement stud such as the Replacement Drive-In Trailer Hub Wheel Stud part # 7-232.

  • Recommended Replacements for an Older Trailer Hub
Having an inner bearing # LM48548 and outer bearing # LM11949 is definitely going to make things a bit difficult. I went through all the hub options we have available, but none will match your set up, unfortunately. That being said, we should be able to get replacement lugs for you. This will depend on the size needed, but the # 7-122 will be 2 inches long with a 1/2 diameter, the # K916WB25 will be 2 1/2 inches long with a 9/16 diameter, and the # 7-232 will be 2 3/4 inches long with...

  • Replacement Wheel Studs for AL-KO Hayes 09080587 10K Axle Hub
From my research, it looks like your 10K Axle AL-KO Hayes hub #09080587 uses six 5/8 x 2-3/4 inch wheel studs for single and flat face wheels. The correct replacement is our Trailer Hub Wheel Stud, Screw-In # 7-232. Below are some other direct replacement parts for this hub assembly: Outer Bearing # 28580 Outer Race # 28521 Inner Bearing # 25580 Inner Race # 25520 Oil Cap Kit # K71-859-00

  • How to Determine Correct Replacement Bearings for Trailer
We can help you find the correct bearings on your trailer, which is pretty easy and only takes a bit of measuring. So in order to find the correct bearings you will need to take apart your hub assembly and look at the bearings themselves; wipe away the grease and you should be able to see the part number stamped directly on them. If you are unable to find them, you need to use digital caliper to measure your spindle to the thousandths of an inch where the bearings ride. You can use the...

  • Replacement Wheel Studs for 2006 Pro Trak Trailer With 10k Axles
To replace the wheel studs you will need to start by identifying the correct size for your hubs. This varies between the brand and part number. For example, a 10k hub like the # 008-430-03 uses 5/8" x 3-1/8" studs # RG03-120. Others may use 5/8" x 2-3/4" like # 7-232. Measure the length (from the bottom of the head to the very end of the bolt) and width to find the correct size. Once you have the correct size for your hubs, simply drive out the old ones and drive in the new ones to replace...

  • Can 9/16" Trailer Hub Studs be Changed to 5/8" Studs
It may be possible to change your studs from 9/16" to 5/8" so long as the studs are drive-in, and the length and knurl/spline diameter needs to be the same. For example, if your studs are 2-3/4" long and have a 0.69" diameter spline you can use the Replacement Drive-In Trailer Hub Wheel Stud - 5/8"-18 x 2-3/4" Long # 7-232. So you do need to have some very specific measurements, otherwise you will need to change your hub to get that size wheel stud. I have added a link below to our entire...
