Video Transcript for Feature Review Replacement Master Cylinder for Dexter Model 10 and 20 Actuators

Hello everybody. This is Jeff at etralier.com. Today we're gonna take a look at this master cylinder for the Titan Model 10 and Model 20 actuators with disk brakes. Now, this part is the replacement master cylinder. Works on the Titan Model 10 and Model 20 brake actuators with disk brakes. The bore on this master cylinder is 1 1/4-inch bore.

The distance between the mounting holes, you can see the mounting holes right here. Now, the mounting hardware is not included, but the distance between those mounting holes, center-to-center, is right at 3 1/2 inches. It does come with the push rod, the cap on top all installed. But that should do it for the review on the master cylinder for Titan Model 10 and Model 20 brake actuators with disk brakes..

We have experienced zero problems. We fish in the ocean. The corrosion from the salt water created constant issues with the factory installed drum brakes on our trailer. It seemed like every time we headed out to launch the boat at least one brake would be frozen up. Instead of fishing we had to take time to fix the trailer. We converted the drum brakes to discs which required the changing of the master cylinder in the actuator. Since we made the upgrade we have experienced zero problems. The parts we purchased from etrailer worked perfectly. Thanks again for your help

product was received fast and as ordered. Etrailer.com is one stop shopping for everything you need for your trailer. I already placed another order.

part still working like new

by:

Good quality and I was able to install it without removing the actuator from the trailer tongue.

by:

The master cylinder is a cost effective way to restore safe braking. It was much cheaper than an entire actuator and was not that hard to replace.

by:

Part purchased to replace old master cylinder as part of an upgrade to disc brakes. Fit and performs well.

  • Parts Needed to Convert 2004 EZ Loader Boat Trailer to Disc Brakes
To start you will want the Kodiak Disc Brake kit part # KOD69FR which is a Dacromet coated hub and rotor kit that fits your spindle. You will need to swap out the grease seals though to the # GS-2125DL since you have the slightly smaller spindle. Then you will lastly need to swap out the master cylinder of your Titan Model 10 drum actuator to the part # T4747100 and you'd be set.

  • Replacement Master Cylinder and Reverse Lock Out Solenoid, Titan Model 10 Trailer Brake Actuators
As far as a master cylinder, you will need the Master Cylinder for Titan Actuators, # T4747100, which is designed for Model 10 or 20 Titan actuators and is designed for 1-1/4 inch bore disc brakes. For a reverse lock out solenoid, you will need the Solenoid Valve with Fittings for Reverse Lockout - Normally Open, # T4748800. This solenoid comes with the necessary fittings and installs in-line with the system. Finally, to protect the solenoid, you will need Replacement Back Up Valve Cover...

  • Will the Titan Reverse Solenoid Valve # T4748800 Thread Into Titan Master Cylinder # T4747100
The Titan Solenoid Valve for Reverse Lockout, part # T4748800 has 1/8 inch NPT male threads on the inlet connection. This will thread into the Titan Master Cylinder for Titan Actuators - Disc Brakes, part # T4747100. Both of these parts are designed for disc brake applications.

  • Replacement Master Cylinder Recommendation for Dico Model 10 Actuator
For a Dico Model 10 actuator for disc brakes we have the replacement part # T4747100 which would fit and work well. If instead you have drum brakes you'd need the part # DX66FR instead.

  • Is Brass Metering Adapter Needed w/Replacement Master Cylinder for Model 10/20 Disc Brakes
The difference between a disc brake master cylinder and a drum brake master cylinder is a small check valve that is inside of a drum master cylinder but not present in a disc one. Disc brakes require more pressure than drum brakes so there is no check valve and the line should be connected directly to the back of the master cylinder. You should not need the adapter you have anymore.

  • How to Tell Difference Between Titan Model 20 Drum and Disc Actuator
Look at the side of the master cylinder and you'll be able to tell which type of brakes it is designed for by the number. If you see 23744 stamped into the side of it you have a drum brake model. If you have 25744 stamped in the side it's for disc brakes. Also you can easily change either style to the other by swapping out the master cylinder. For a drum brake application you'd want the part # DX66FR or for disc part # T4747100.

  • Correct Replacement Master Cylinder for Titan Model 10 Brake Actuator Disc/Drum
The correct replacement master cylinder for a Titan Model 10 Brake Actuator is part # DX66FR for drum brakes or part # T4747100 for disc brakes. It is possible that the wrong actuator was installed on the trailer and since the master cylinder is the only different component I recommend the master cylinder for disc brakes since that is what you have on the trailer.

  • Is the Replacement Master Cylinder for Dexter Model 10 and 20 Actuators Made of Plastic or Metal
The Replacement Master Cylinder for Dexter Model 10 and 20 Actuators part # T4747100 is cast, made of pot metal. The only part that's plastic is the cap, the body is metal. It should not rust so long as the outer body is protected with paint and the internals sealed off from water.

  • Troubleshooting Titan Surge Disc Brake Actuator
It could be that your reverse lockout solenoid needs replacement. Part # T4748800 is the replacement part. But I suspect your master cylinder is the cause for the brakes staying locked up until you release the pressure from the bleed valve on one of the calipers. You can check your master cylinder to see if the piston returns to its normal position after you manually compress it. If not you will want to replace it with part # T4747100 which fits the model 10 disc actuator. For the same...

  • Replacement Master Cylinder for Older Model Titan Model 60 Brake Actuator
I spoke with my technical contact at Titan and showed him the photo that you sent in of your actuator. My contact confirmed that you actuator is a Model 60. The right replacement master cylinder for you will depend on what kind of brakes the actuator is designed for. If the brakes have never been changed out, you can determine this by checking if the trailer has disc or drum brakes. If your actuator is designed for drum brakes, you will want the Replacement Master Cylinder Assembly #...

  • What Adapter Fitting for Master Cylinder 4747100 and 3/16 Inch Brake Line?
The Master Cylinder for Titan Actuators - Disc Brakes # T4747100 is 1/2 inch-20 female so you will need the Orifice Connector for Titan Actuators # T1209800 which fits the inverted flare. Replacement Brass Connector for Titan Disc Brake Actuators - Qty 1 # T4750300 is a 1/8 to 3/16 inch orifice fitting.

  • How to Tell if you Have the Titan # DX66FR or the # T4747100
I pulled both the # DX66FR and the # T4747100 that you referenced to check out and found a way for you to determine which you have. You will need to remove the red plug from the end opposite of the plunger and look down into that hole. If you see what looks like a flat gray disc you have the disc brake master cylinder part # T4747100 . If what you see is a concave metal piece with medium size holes then you are looking at the check valve and you have the drum brake version.

We do carry the master cylinders for the Titan Model 20 Brake Actuators. If you have drum brakes, then you will want master cylinder # DX66FR. We also carry the master cylinder with the brackets as part # T2374600. If you have disc brakes, then you will want master cylinder # T4747100, or with the brackets, # T4749501042.

  • Can a Disc Brake Master Cylinder be Used with Drum Brakes on a Trailer
You would not want to use a disc brake master cylinder with drum brakes because the psi rating is much higher for disc brakes. Using it on drum brakes can lead to damage to the wheel cylinders and very aggressive braking. The master cylinder for the drum brakes is # DX66FR. Drum brake master cylinders have a check valve on the inside that regulates the psi going through the brake lines. This is not something that you can add to the disc brake master cylinder. You would either have to...

  • A-Frame Surge Brake Coupler Recommendation to Replace HydroAct Actuator
From a previous question we know that the actuator you have is a HydroAct brand and based on that we know the master cylinder you mentioned won't fit it. For a similar A-frame style coupler that will work great as a replacement we have the A-Frame Brake Actuator # DM8205222 which would be a great choice as a replacement. For a coupler then you'd want the # DM15791-97.

To pick out the correct brake kit and rotors to fit your trailer we will first need to know a couple of important pieces of information. You will need to know your wheel bolt pattern on your trailer. I have attached a helpful article that explains how this is measured. Second, you will need to know what spindles you have on your trailer so that we can pick out the correct hub drums that will fit. To determine what spindles you have you will need to know either the numbers of the bearings...

  • Availability of Replacement Disc Brake Master Cylinder for Titan Model 10 Hydraulic Coupler
There is indeed a replacement disc brake master cylinder that is compatible with the Titan Model # 10 hydraulic brake actuator. The replacement is part # T4747100. • Availability of Model 10 Trailer Actuator for Disc Brakes
We have a solution, but we don't have a Titan Model 10 actuator currently that is designed for disc brakes. What you could do is swap in the disc brake actuator part # T4747100 to the # T2477600 and you'd have a Model 10 designed for disc brakes.

  • Replacement Master Cylinder or Coupler for Old Rental Trailer
For the most part, master cylinders for hydraulic brake actuators are model specific. Is there any indication on the hydraulic coupler what the manufacturer and model number of the actuator is? Without that information, I really wouldn't be able to make a recommendation for a replacement master cylinder. Hydraulic trailer brakes typically use 3/16 inch brake lines. You shouldn't need to replumb the lines if they're in good shape, but if you can't identify the manufacturer of the actuator,...

  • Troubleshooting a Dico Surge Brake Coupler on Boat Trailer with Disc Brakes
From the information you have given, I believe that you have a Dico Model 10 actuator. We offer Master Cylinder, # T4747100, that can be used as a replacement if you choose to go this route. If the ridiculous noise still exists, I recommend that you replace your current brake actuator with one that has a weight capacity closer to the weight of your Trail Rite boat trailer. The Titan Disc Brake Actuator, # T4747200, has a weight capacity of 8,000 pounds.
