Delivered on time , customer service was very helpful snapped in in seconds and I now have brakes on my trailer !!

by:

I’ve been on one 600 mile trip since installing these, 1week ago. So for they are a significant improvement over the surge drum brakes.

I installed these on a boat trailer, about 4,500 lb. I was worried about having too much brake based on other reviews, so I only installed one axle. My controller is set at 3.5. Factory controller in a 2012 F350. Didn’t need the Ford/Chevy adapter, but installed it anyway.

Install took about 6-8 hours, between making brackets, mounting everything, and fitting brake lines. Installed everything in two days on the weekend.

I ended up putting about 3000 mikes on the trailer before selling it. This unit worked flawlessly the whole time. I definitely would recommend this for people looking to upgrade. For my new trailer I used a competitive brand and don’t like it quite as much. The the Titan reacts with much less brake pressure than the other brand.

I still have a little lag but works as designed

I had to upgrade my fifth wheel to a motorhome do to my wifes disability how ever every thing worked out just fine fo the short time I used it.

Excellent product! etrailer should change the name to include Ram trucks. My 2016 Ram 2500 wasn’t recognizing the EOH brakes on our boat trailer. I’ve seen other people with Ram trucks say this adapter resolved the problem. Sure enough, the brakes work just as they should now that the adapter is in place.

The part arrived but didnt have the plug and play connector. After contacting Dexter to make sure the box was the same with/without pigtail it was installed and worked as designed. Kimberly was very helpful in getting me the credit for the correct part. Thanks Etrailer.

by:

Arrived quick, this was a replacement order for the Hydrastar controller adapter module that wasn't available until July. An Etrailer salesman recommended the Titan, which his fine, but no instructions on how to wire it in.

by:

Awesome service from ETrailer! FAST shipping and great customer service and follow up before and after the sale. Product looks well made and as advertised but have not actually tried it yet.

by:

Got the item exactly as ordered in a timely fashion. Very pleased with the Customer Service I received. Would use "etrailer" again without hesitation.

by:

Thanks to Michelle S., from etrailer for the fast and knowledgeable service.

  • How to Install the Titan BrakeRite SD and EHB Adapter for Ford/Chevy Integral Brake Controllers
The Titan BrakeRite SD Adapter, # T4845900, is going to plug in line with the wiring for the actuator so it will mount on the trailer. This particular adapter works with the Titan BrakeRite I Plug and Play Electric-Hydraulic Actuator Kit, # T4813102. The plugs are color coded on the adapter and wiring so you know where to plug it in. If you have the EHB unit but the SD adapter, just cut off the plugs so you just have the blue and white wires left over and install as described above.

  • Troubleshooting Integrated Factory Brake Controller Not Working On a 2018 Ram 5500
The fuse for the trailer brake module is located in the engine compartment fuse box that is located near the battery on your 2018 Ram 5500. The 30 amp pink fuse is located in position F11. In my experience if all the wiring and fuses are good you will need to take it to your nearest Ram Service Center as the computer may need to be flashed or updated to get the controller working properly again. The best option may be to switch to a aftermarket brake controller like the Tekonsha Prodigy...

  • Poor Response Time Using Titan Electric Over Hydraulic Brake Actuator
It could be the input power to the Titan BrakeRite # T4813102. This can happen if it is not getting the right amount of voltage due to a poor ground connection or if the brake controller you are using is not rated for use with electric over hydraulic braking systems. If you are using the Ford integrated brake controller you may need adapter # T4845900 to get the right voltage to the actuator. If you need a brake controller that can be used with electric over hydraulic braking systems...

  • Is Titan BrakeRite SD Adapter Needed With Electric Over Hydraulic Compatible Brake Controller
The Tekonsha Prodigy P3, part # 90195 is compatible with electric over hydraulic braking systems once it's set to its EOH mode. You'd only need the # T4845900 adapter if your truck had the factory installed Ford brake controller. If the trailer will be towed by other Ford or Chevy vehicles that have the factory brake controllers installed, you would use the # T4845900 adapter. If the other vehicles have an aftermarket electric over hydraulic compatible brake controller installed, you...

  • Fixing a Dexter Electric Over Hydraulic Brake Actuator that Pulses
Adapters like the Titan BrakeRite SD Adatper, part # T4845900, will help keep electric over hydraulic actuator from pulsing. When a truck's integrated brake controller isn't compatible with EOH brakes the verification signal it sends back to the brakes reaches the actuator causing its motor to activate. In time this will cause the motor to wear out. With that being said you have a Dexter actuator and we've never tested the BrakeRite SD adapter on a Dexter. Neither has Titan. We've...

  • Does Titan BrakeRite Adapter for Integral Brake Controllers DX35FR Install On Trailer or Vehicle
The Titan BrakeRite SD Adapter for Ford/Chevy Integral Brake Controllers Item # T4845900 gets installed on the trailer normally. You would either need to install one of these on each trailer or swap the controller you have in your 2014 Chevy Silverado to one that is compatible with EOH brakes without the use of an adapter. For that the Prodigy P3 part # 90195 is our most popular and best option. To see exactly how to do this check out the FAQ article I attached to the right that details...

  • Electric Over Hydraulic Brake Controller for a 2012 GMC Sierra 3500 with Factory Brake Controller
Many of the electric over hydraulic brake actuators will work with the factory integrated controller on your 2012 GMC Sierra 3500 with the use of an adapter. The Dexter actuators, # K71-651 for disc brakes or # K71-650 for drum brakes will work with a controller that has an output capacity of at least 5 amps. The Carlisle units, # HBA16 for disc or # HBA-10 for drum are compatible if you also use adapter # HBA-CAM. And the Titan actuators, the # T4813102 is compatible if you use adapter...

  • Troubleshooting Titan BrakeRite II System Pump Running but Trailer Brakes not Working
The issue that you are seeing may indeed be an electrical issue. I recommend checking all the connections and wiring and make sure that there are not any loose connections, or signs of damage to any of the wiring. I have included a link to the installation instructions for the Titan BrakeRite II # T4834102, and as noted in the troubleshooting section, most problems that are experienced are related to wiring issues. There are several helpful diagrams at the end of the installation instructions...

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Brake Controller Issues
There could be a couple of different possibilities to your trailer brake issues. The first thing you can check is the brake controller itself, there could be an internal issue that is causing it to malfunction. You can check the brake controller by using the manual override. If that doesn't correct the issue you can test the blue wire and the red wire for shorts. I have attached a link to the steps to help troubleshoot brake controllers. If you determine you need a new brake controller,...

  • Is BrakeRite Adapter Still Needed with BrakeRite Actuator for 2014 Chevy with OEM Brake Controller
I spoke with my contact at Titan and he said the 2014 Chevrolets still requires the Titan BrakeRite EHB Adapter, part # T4845900, in order to work with Chevy/GMC OEM brake controllers and the Titan BrakeRite I Plug and Play Electric-Hydraulic Actuator Kit, part # T4813102. Fords, however, no longer need the adapter. For install details click the provided links.

  • Are Electric Over Hydraulic Trailer Brake Actuators Compatible with Factory Brake Controllers
It all depends on which electric over hydraulic actuator you are using. If your truck has an integrated brake controller it might be compatible. But you mentioned having a 2009 2500HD but I do not know if it is a Silverado, Sierra, or Ram. If we are talking factory integrated controllers then GM trucks are not compatible with the HydraStar # HBA16, # HBA-12, or # HBA-10 unless you use adapter # HBA-CAM (which only works with the model HydraStars indicated on its product page). It is...

  • Pump on Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator Works But No Brakes when Brake Pedal is Pressed
If the pump is running but not building pressure it could be a mechanical or electrical issue. Make sure that all of the wiring is intact with no corrosion on the connections. The actuator should be grounded to both the ground on the trailer connector and to the negative battery terminal on the trailer. You may also need to bleed the brakes. Check the manual of the actuator you have for the bleeding procedure. It could also be a problem with the breakaway system or the battery on the trailer....

For a brake line kit I recommend # DM5425 which is for drum or disc brakes whereas # 9505 is designed more for drum brake applications. • Titan Brakerite EOH Adapter For Working with Integrated Brake Controller of 2016 Ford F-250
We have found that even with integrated brake controller that are designed for electric over hydraulic actuators there can still sometimes be communication errors that prevent them from working right. What you will want to do is look on the controller for a hydraulic setting (if applicable) and be sure it's selected. Otherwise the adapter part # T4845900 will allow the system to work as it is designed for this exact issue.

I recommend removing the adapter as it is no longer needed and testing the actuator itself for proper function. If the unit functions correctly with 12V power, then it should work properly when directly wired to work with the Prodigy P2 brake controller. If the unit does not work properly when connected to 12V power, then the unit itself will need to be repaired...
