Video Transcript for Dexter Hydraulic Brake Line with Fittings Review

Today we're going to take a look at the Titan 17-3/4 inch flexible hydraulic brake line with fittings. Now this flexible long hose with the 90 degree bend on the one end will connect your hydraulic brake actuator to your trailer brake when used with additional lines and fittings. Now, the additional lines and fittings we do sell separately on our website. This hose is a flexible design so it makes it perfect for use with fold away trailer tongues, disc brakes, torsion axles, and it's easier to install than a rigid steel brake line. Now, on one end of the brake line, you can see is this 90 degree male swivel flare nut. It's great for applications with limited clearance, because that 90 degree bend in the fitting will keep you from having to bend the hose. And then the swivel flare nut allows the flare fitting to turn without the hose twisting. On the other end, has a nice brass female, inverted flair fitting.

It's double crimped to the rubbed hose. And will easily thread onto a male fitting. The rubber hose itself does meet the DOT, Department of Transportation and SAE standards. Overall length, again, on this hose is 17-3/4 inches. Inner diameter of the hose is 1/8 of an inch.

The fitting size is 3/16 of an inch, and thread size is 3/8 inch by 24. But that should do it for the review on the Titan 17-3/4 inch flexible hydraulic brake line with the fittings.

Take note of this if your trailer rubber brake caliper line goes directly into a T or have a Triton trailer! I have a dual axle Triton Snowmobile trailer that I wanted to replace the brake system on after 10 years of use. The Triton engineers used a special T on the left side by the axle to tie the 3 brake lines together. (Master cylinder, left caliper rubber brake line, and the right side steel brake line.) It was a cleaner option to plug the brake line directly into the brake T VS going from a female port off the T, to a steel brake line, to a rubber brake line. (Smart but challenging for me as the T has a medium length male fitting.) The T is male, female, female. I first ordered the Kodiak 18' brake line but the female side was so deep it would not seat the flare before hitting the brake line T. (Will work fine with a steel brake line.) I looked further then noticed that e-trailer offered this Titan brake line and so I asked e-trailer to let me know how deep the female side was in the hopes not as deep as the Kodiac. Turns out it was the same depth as my OEM brake line that was on the trailer. The Titan brake line worked great! Sealed before it hit the T! I also damaged the T when the Kodiac brake line bottomed out on the T (Soft material.) So I needed to replace the T too but could not get this part from etrailer. I found it at Orielly's after looking several places for one. (I will save you the hassle of finding one.) I like etrailer.com because they have everything you need to fix your trailer in one place. The folks at etrailer.com are helpful, knowledgeable, have a good return policy, and are reasonably priced.

I like that etrailer.com has a wide selection of trailer parts making them a one stop shop. This was a direct replacement for the hose that came with my Triton Trailer with Kodiac surge brakes.

It's important to know I tried another brand of hose first (Looked correct) but because the trailer manufacture has the left side brake hose screw directly into the brake line T on the left side. The first replacement hose I bought bottomed out (hit) the T before the flanges could connect and sealed up. (The female side on the new hose was deeper (Too deep), so the male side of T connection could not reach the flare and seal before the hose fitting bottomed out on the outside edge of the T connector.)

After doing some research I noticed that etrailer.com had this line too, I ordered it, and it was exactly the same as the one that came off my trailer. Problemed solved. etrailer had everything OEM to replace the brakes on my now aging trailer. (Surge hitch, back up solenoid, rotors, pads, calipers, wheel bearings, seals, and such.)

5 years ago I purchased a disc brake kit for my 24' boat trailer. It had the standard rusted out drum kits so I thought to make the move to disc, as I do my boating in the saltchuck. The install went super easy and it has given me great service.
So, I have a new trailer that needs a full rebuild of the brakes. I started on the website, and as I was assembling my order, a couple of questions come up. So I called Customer Support. Katie was the one who answered the phone and walked me through what was needed, confirmed the differences in a couple of the components that were not explained on the website. Even tracked down one of the technical guys to explain the backup valve functionality. She then walked through the parts listing to confirm, so when it arrives, there would be no surprises or shortages.
Here next step was to confirm shipping dates. She checked stock on all the parts, a couple were back ordered, so she confirmed when they were to arrive, so the 1 shipment would be complete. As I am in Canada, coordinated with the broker to get the parts to me.
At the end of the call, I had the pricing, which was AWESOME, confirmation of shipping dates and contact info, if I had questions or concerns.
The day she said it would arrive at the broker, it DID! She followed up with the status!
Looking forward to getting the system installed next week!
Thanks again for great service and having knowledgeable folks to work with!

Would have been a 5 star rating if both ends of brake line were brass fittings.

by:

The items came packed very well. I have not installed them yet but as far as quality I must say "Excellent". I have to cut the old tongue to install the new hitch/brake assembly and I do not want to do that right now and disable the trailer.
I am a retired boat repair shop owner and have seen my share of good and not so good worn trailer couplers. Needless to say I know I will never have any problems with this kit.
Regards, Kenny

etrailer is definitely my Go To place when I need something for my RV. Paula was very knowledgeable about the Kodiak brake parts I needed to get back on the road. She got the parts out to me by overnight UPS. I got everything as ordered and it fit perfectly. Back rolling again. I highly recommend etrailer.

While I have not had a chance to go through the packages that arrived yesterday. I was pleasantly surprised that they did arrive way ahead of schedule. I also can not thank Katrina B. enough on her help with correcting my mistake with an online order. She was pleasant the whole time, and has followed up with me to make sure that everything is good. Once I get the packages opened and installed I will be writing another review on the parts. For my part Customer Service goes a long way in to making a happy customer. Thanks Katrina
