The installation instructions were clear and easy to follow. By using electricity to heat water we don't go through as much propane meaning not breaking down and driving to refill. Very glade I installed this conversion kit.

I wouldn't have purchased the product for my Suburban water heater (with anode rod) had I been aware that replacing the anode rod with the Hott Rod heating element WILL negatively affect the water heater tank (unlike the "expert" answered question on the etrailer.com website). After talking to Valterra (the manufacturer) I learned they are currently developing an anode rod/heating element to replace the current (unprotected) type heating rod for Suburban type water heaters that have an anode rod system.
I may return the item or wait until Valterra sends me a replacement anode type heating element when they finally have it available (August 2019?).
I'm disappointed that neither the manufacturer nor etrailer.com made this important information available at the time of purchase. It's a shame, since the product does appear otherwise to be of excellent quality.
Have ordered several items from Etrailer in the past; and have always been very satisfied. As I have been "tweaking" my new camper to get it just right for me; I added the Hott Rod device to my water heater system so I don't need to use up my propane while plugged in at the camp ground. My order arrived two days after I ordered it! Was simple an straight forward to get it hooked up. It works great.
Propane hot water heater went out instead of buying another we tried the hott rod conversion kit works great and saves lots of money no having to use propane.I highly recommend this as an alternative source for heating water.
Easy install, hot water temperature setting easy to adjust. Hot water is consistent. Does not over load 30 Amp electrical system.
After one year still working great and best of all I don't need propane for my water heater.
Works great. Good quality. Now we can use 120v when plugged in instead of propane, or use both sources for faster heating.
