Video Transcript for Review of Diamond Lights - Load Resistors - DI34ZR

Jeff: Hello everybody, this is Jeff at Today we're going to take a look at the 50 watt load resister kit for the LED turn signals. It is for a quantity of two resistors. Now these load resistors will prevent hyperflashing on your turn signals with LED bulbs. It's designed to work with most import and domestic vehicles. You can see they are a nice compact design.

They'll fit into tight spaces. These are compatible with 12 volt DC systems. They will surface mount behind your vehicle headlights and the connection plugs are included. The quick connect plugs, which will let you easily connect to your power source. A few specs again, it's two load resistors.

Wattage is 50 watts, electrical resistance is six ohms, and last thing I want to do is just give you dimensions on the resistor. The length on it, right at two inches long. The width, including the mounting brackets, it's right at one and a quarter inches wide. And the overall height of it is right at 11 16ths of an inch tall. But that should do it for the review on the 50 watt load resistor kit for the LED turn signals..

These load resistors prevent hyperflashing on turn signals with LED light bulbs. Compact design - fits in tight spaces.

It was easy to install the resistor with quick connect clips, I wish there was some instructions with the packaging. I didn't know if it matters what side of resistor was connected to positive. I decided to just install them and fixed my hyper flashing the new led tail lights.

This is the second set I ordered. I replaced all my lights on my Toyota with LED's and the hyper flash issue came to light. I knew a resistor would work but didn't know exactly what to get. I called and as usual, etrailer was extremely helpful. The customer service lady suggested what to purchase and I did. The resister set arrived early which was wonderful, however in packaging they pretty much weaken the wiring as they fold them over to get them in the clam shell. Both resisters look pretty frail and I fear the wires will break eventually. I went ahead and installed them and unfortunately they only fixed my hazard lights, turn signals still hyper flash. I ordered a second set to put one at each corner. The packaging was the exact same. GGGGRRR. I have not installed these yet but I hope they fix my problem and the wires do not break. The set is affordable but my only complaint about etrailer is the shipping. I have had instances where it's cheaper to keep product then to return it.

Quick processing & shipment. Product was also packaged well.

  • Do Diamond # DI34ZR Load Resistors Get Hot
Load resistors can reach between 140-160 degrees Fahrenheit. Therefore, mounting them to a plastic surface wouldn't be a good idea. Mounting them to a metal surface is recommended.

  • LED Light Bar Not Functioning Properly When Running Lights Are On
Since you have a clean ground and the converter box, it sounds like the amperage of your running lights is just too high for the LED light bar. You may want to try using a load resistor like the Diamond LED Light Bulb Load-Resistors - Qty 2 # DI34ZR to see if that allows everything to function properly.

  • Why Do LED Taillights on Vehicle Cause "Bulb Burned Out Message on Dash
When you replace incandescent bulbs on a vehicle's turn signal circuit with LEDs the blinker circuit doesn't want to work right. This is due to the amperage rating being too low on the LEDs and thermal flasher units needing to see a specific amperage rating to work right. Now with some vehicles if the circuit doesn't see a specific amperage load on the circuit it thinks the bulb has burned out. The LEDs will cause this. A load resistor puts that same amperage back on the circuit so that...

  • Aluminum Versus Ceramic Load Resistors for Replacing Incandescent Lights for LED Lights on RV
Load resistors, such as # DI34ZR, will get hot as they do their job of absorbing power (providing resistance). They will work fine for helping a wiring harness work well with low-power-demand LED type trailer lighting. The difference between them is that the aluminum resistors will be able to more quickly dissipate that heat to the surrounding air. The aluminum housing will release it's heat better since the material itself is more conductive of heat than ceramic (which is really an insulator...

I reached out to my contact at Luma LEDs just to see if he might have any idea as to what might be causing the issue you described when replacing the incandescents on your trailer with new LED bulbs. He stated that since the LEDs will draw much less power than your old incandescent bulbs, the tow vehicle might be seeing the new bulb as being burnt out/not operational and this can cause a variety of issues with the visible functions on the lights. Adding load resistors like # DI34ZR inline...

  • Troubleshooting Low Voltage to LED Tail Lights and Trailer Lights
It is normal to get LED light function with the ACC mode on your ignition. The LED lights draw far less amperage than incandescent bulbs, so with any power going to the wires they can be illuminated. This is normal for your 1997 Ford F-450. If you do not want them to function in that ACC mode on your ignition and want them to function like the incandescent bulbs, then you will need to install load resistors like the Diamond LED Light Bulb Load-Resistors - Qty 2 # DI34ZR to require a...

  • Solution for Rapid Signal Flashing on Utility Bed with LED Lights
It sounds like you may just need to install some load resistors on the turn signal circuits of your truck. The hyper flashing you are experiencing occurs sometimes with LED lights because they only draw a fraction of the power that a standard incandescent does. On vehicles with a bulb-out sensor, they are essentially tricked by this and think that a bulb has burned out, which in turn causes the rapid blinking. The same symptom occurs if you were to have incandescent bulbs and they were...

  • Troubleshooting LED Trailer Lights Flashing with 2015 Chevy Silverado
The first thing you will want to do is make sure you have a good ground for your new lights; oftentimes a poor ground can be the cause of lights acting erratically and this is going to be the most likely cause for your LED lights behaving in the manner they are. It is possible that load resistors # DI34ZR would fix the issue if you are certain your ground is not the problem. They will need to be installed on each circuit of the trailer wiring; the instructions included with this kit have...

  • Troubleshooting LED Tail Light Bulbs Flickering when Vehicle Lights are Turned Off
The flicker you are referring to with LED bulbs is known as hyper flashing. This occurs because the LED bulbs require so much less power than incandescent bulbs. So when your lights are on, the power to the bulbs is reduced due to the draw on the headlights and running lights, but when they are turned off the power is too great for proper function without adding load resistors. I recommend adding the Putco LED Light Bulb Load-Resistors - Aluminum - Qty 2 # DI34ZR to your wiring for each...

Installing load resistors on the trailer's wiring like the # DI34ZR will prevent the flickering of the taillights if you wanted it to stop. If you can live with the flickering though there's no reason you'd have to do this. The flickering of the LEDs won't drain the battery and a free solution would be to just unplug the trailer wiring when not towing.

  • Brake Light and Turn Signal Circuits Cause Error in Truck
Your 2003 Dodge Ram should have a converter on the trailer wiring harness to combine the brake and turn signals on your truck's separate wiring to a combined 2-wire system. Since your truck thinks there is a bulb out on the trailer I'm guessing the you have LED bulbs. LEDs draw less power than incandescent bulbs so the truck may mistakenly recognize the low draw as a bad bulb. To solve this you can add load resistors # DI34ZR to the wiring. • Is Load Resistor Required for Converting 3rd Brake Light to LED Bulb
Load resistors can be required for LED lights when the vehicle wiring is unable to recognize the light's presence due to its very low power draw. • 2021 GMC Sierra LED Turn Signals Are Hyperflashing
It sounds like you have a common phenomenon known as "hyperflashing" occurring on your truck. The Load Resistor Kit # DI34ZR will mitigate this issue by installing these inline with your factory wiring. To correct your turn signals on your 2021 GMC Sierra 3500, I recommend installing the Load Resistor Kit for LED Turn Signals # DI34ZR.
