Upgrades your Dometic FanTastic roof vent to a motorized setup. Thermostat-controlled, clamp-on roof vent assembly kit has a rain sensor so the dome automatically closes. Includes powered lift and remote control. Motor and dome lid sold separately.
Features:
Specs:
Note: This vent is compatible with FanTastic fans. It will not work with any other Dometic model fan.
This roof vent assembly kit uses a thermostat to help maintain an even temperature inside your RV, camper, or enclosed trailer. You can also control the dome (sold separately) and fan (sold separately) manually with a built-in hand knob or with the included remote control. A rain sensor is included as well to signal the dome to close and the fan to shut off when it gets wet.
Air out your RV after cooking or just draw in some fresh air while you sleep. This remote controls the vent's thermostat as well as its manual and automatic speeds. You can control the direction of airflow - in or out - with the push of a button. Operate the remote control in your RV or place it in the included wall cradle so you will always know exactly where it is.
Manual and Automatic Operating Modes
This variable-speed ceiling fan operates in 2 modes: manual and automatic. An on/off button automatically lifts the dome (sold separately) and activates the fan. To use the manual mode, press the arrow buttons on the left side of the remote or turn the knob on the vent housing to increase or decrease the fan speed.
The manual speeds are listed on the remote from 10 percent to 100 percent. As you cycle through the speeds with the arrow buttons, an LED light next to the selected setting will light up. As you cycle, you may notice that the LEDs for 2 settings will be simultaneously lit. This means that the selected speed is the average of both of those settings.
To switch from the manual to the automatic, thermostat-controlled mode, press one of the temperature arrow buttons on the right side of the remote. When using the automatic mode, you can preset the vent to maintain a desired temperature inside your RV. The temperatures are listed from 60 F to 90 F. As you cycle through the temperatures with the arrow buttons, an LED light next to the selected temperature will light up. Again, when 2 temperature settings are simultaneously lit, the selected temperature is the average.
The fan's internal thermostat will sense the actual room temperature, and the fan will run until the preset temperature is achieved. When the temperature rises above the preset temperature, the fan will automatically kick on again. So when you go out, you don't have to waste energy by leaving the vent running at full blast just to ensure that your RV is cool when you return. And because the fan will activate anytime that the preset temperature is reached, you can set up the system to ensure that your pets remain comfortable while you're out.
To reverse the direction of airflow, simply push the air out/air in button while the dome (sold separately) is open.
This vent has a powered lift arm for the dome (sold separately), so you don't have to manually crank it open or closed. The dome automatically opens when you turn on the fan. An up/down button on the remote also lets you open and close the dome when the fan is not running.
And a hand knob is built in so that you can operate the dome in the event of a power failure.
A moisture sensor ensures that the dome will close when rain or snow hits. So you can leave the vent running or preset to run at a certain temperature, even if the forecast calls for rain. When the sensor gets wet, it signals the dome to close. With the dome closed, the fan blades will stop running. When the sensor dries, the dome will re-open and the fan blades will resume operation. To keep the sensor from activating in rain, snow, or humid and dewy conditions, simply add a vent cover (sold separately) to block moisture.
This vent requires a 14-1/4" x 14-1/4" opening in your trailer's roof and ceiling. To replace an old vent, install this vent into the existing opening. If your roof does not already have a vent, you will need to mark and cut an opening between roof joists to install this unit. And the 2-wire design makes it easy to have your vent hooked up and ready for use.

Upgrades your Dometic FanTastic roof vent to a motorized setup. Thermostat-controlled, clamp-on roof vent assembly kit has a rain sensor so the dome automatically closes. Includes powered lift and remote control. Motor and dome lid sold separately.I ordered the correct upgrade kit to fit my existing Dometic 1450 fan (that was confirmed to fit by a call to Dometic) and after removing the existing unit I completed the wiring and installation. When I went to put the trim piece in place (last step) I found that I had installed the incorrect part, the model with the square corners instead of the one with the notched corners that I ordered and was in the images.
So it seems that Dometic put the wrong part in the box. The included screen was also dented and had one hole in it.
Because I needed to complete the install before leaving in my RV I clipped the corners and finished the installation. It works fine but does not look as good as it should.
MAKE SURE THAT YOU PART IS THE CORRECT ONE FOR YOUR EXISTING TRIM BEZEL BEFORE INSTALLATION.
Customer service said that they'd send me a label to send it back and after receiving it they would send me the correct part...there are only so many times that the installed base can have the screws installed & removed so I'll just have to live with it.
Also, instructions are not very good and don't include the information about removing the jumper if you have a pancake motor like I did.
Fortunately I knew about this ahead of time so the jumper was removed and the unit operates normally.
Product fit and upgraded my non remote fantastic fan to one with remote. Shipping was quick. Box was smashed, but product ok and not etrailers fault. No instructions, but I was able to figure it out. Again - no 8nstructions not etrailers fault…just be ready to do some investigation.
Production quality is very good. I ran into an issue that my fantastic fan (late 2010) would not work directly with the upgrade because my old unit was slightly smaller (14x14). I thought all fantastic fans were the same size (my mistake). I ended up moving the guts of the upgrade into my old assembly (less the new 14 1/4” x 14 1/4” shell) . All is working fine.
Great upgrade kit will not work with my fold down Aliner camper because the manual lift knob interferes with the roof panels when fold down..
I recently installed the Fan-Tastic vent assembly upgrade kit for my 2018 TaB 320 trailer. The upgrade process was relatively simple and took about 45 to 50 minutes to remove the original assembly and install the new one. I would recommend that you read the instructions a few times before starting your removal and installation process. It helped to mentally note on the new assembly each step referenced in the instructions.
The fan works great and the remote functions are straight forward. I really like the ability to set the fan at 10-20% speed without hearing fan noise. One drawback is that when you use the remote to operate the vent, it either opens it completely or closes it. If you want to run the fan with the vent lid partially closed, you have to do that manually.
Jamie from etrailer helped me ensure that I was purchasing the correct assembly for my trailer and helped expedite my purchase. I am extremely happy with my new upgrade and purchase experience with etrailer!
The last two orders have processed and shipped in great time! That kind of service make my customers happy and it makes me look good in their eyes! Thanks for a job well done!
Wow how fast was that! Item ordered, item shipped, got it in less time than I thought ! All in good shape, all parts needed in the box. Thank you !
In 2014 I had upgraded one of three fantastic fans to operate with a remote. The remote control broke and was no longer available since Dometic had purchased Fantastic Fans and changed control boards and remotes. etrailer sent me the newer Dometic Fantastic fan upgrade with remote. Unfortunately, the unit shipped with a faulty control board. I tried to procure a replacement from Dometic but was unable to since they were out of stock and back ordered. However, etrailer came to the rescue and agreed to make the exchange. The new upgrade works better than the previous version in that the remote works from far greater distances. You can't go wrong purchasing from etrailer. They continue to meet and exceed with great customer support and communication.
Very pleased with the upgrade kit, despite the fact that it arrived without any sort of installation manual in the box. This is likely not due to the seller, but more likely an oversight on packing from the manufacturer. An operation guide was included, but nothing about wiring. Thank goodness for [online videos] and others who posted how to connect everything. The fan works perfectly now and exactly as described. I'm super-pleased.

Still working great no problems
Perfect replacement for the house exhaust fan on 2005 Sandpiper 5th wheel trailer. The automatic rain sensor close and shutoff works great as well.

Perfect, just as when installed. Remote is a nice feature
Pro’s - Relatively easy upgrade with all the features of the latest Fantastic fan. Upgrade is all done inside, no roof work except to locate and install rain sensor with one screw. Roof seal is not disturbed. Minimal wire splicing required.
Con’s - Instructions are poorly written with tiny pictures of the area being discussed, they can be figured out but the poor instructions turn a 1/2 hour job into an hour plus, spent more time trying to understand the instructions than doing the actual work. Holder for the remote needs to be tighter or have a small clip to keep it in place. It was designed as though it was being hung in your house, not a trailer bouncing down the road. I modified mine so the remote won’t pop out during travel.
Glad I made the upgrade.
NOTE: BE SURE TO ORDER THE RIGHT VERSION THAT WORKS WITH YOUR EXISTING FAN. YOUR EXISTING FAN IS EITHER “CLAMPED IN”, OR “SCREWED IN”.
I have been very satisfied with my fan-tactic roof vent upgrade kit vents. They were easy to install & work great. My wife loves them. She no longer has to get a step stool to manually open & close the vents - with the push of a button, they open or close. You can also control the speed of the fan. I would definitely recommend them! And the sales people at etrailer are the best - very helpful & knowledgeable.
I have a 2020/21 Dometic Fantastic Fan 1450. I installed the upgrade kit and the new lift arm is not compatible. etrailer tech support was (uncharacteristically) not helpful - telling me that there must be a track on my lid for the ne arm and that I should look harder. Having checked with other owners of a 1450 fan of the same year, they have found the same issue. Once I replaced the original control arm it worked; however, for some strange reason, when turning on the main trailer power switch, the fan comes on by itself without the lid opening. Once you turn the fan off and back on using the remote, it works perfectly until you turn the main trailer power switch off and on again.
Both Dometic and etrailer could do better as many hours were spend needlessly working on this.
The product was fine - pretty much just what I needed. The service when I called etrailer was professional, courteous and prompt. The problem seems to lie in their systems. I had to order 9 times, the first 7 orders were rejected for card payment issues. At first they told me to call my credit card company. The credit card company told me they were approving the payment but etrailer was rejecting it. After a few more payment attempts and in a few more calls to etrailer, each of which was courteous and professional, I was told is was a "system problem" that they could do nothing about, but that I could try PayPal. Eventually I tried PayPal and the order went thru. It was delayed a few times, I had to reorder the item a few times and it was a huge hassle, but no one else had the fan so... what do you do.
When I got the fan it was fairly easy to install, but the lift arm for the fan lid did not fit so I had to use the old one. The instructions are xxx at least for my replacement, but you can figure it out with a little effort.
All in all it was a hassle to purchase but I'm happy now because everything works.
good luck!
This kit is to convert a 3 speed fan, to a variable speed. It uses a fraction of the energy of the 3 speed, which is great for boondocking where power is limited. Also comes with power lift, remote, and rain sensor. Install took 30 minutes, including removal of old parts. Be sure to read all instructions before starting, there is a jumper on circuit board that either stays or is removed depending upon which fan motor you have. I also have a vent cover installed which prevents the hatch from completely opening. The automatic opener stops as soon as it hits limits and works fine. Great product and service from etrailer. Also note there seems to be two styles of this kit. One has notched corners, and the other does not. Be sure to verify which style you require. I installed on a NuCamp 2018 T@b 400, which had notched corners.
The fan upgrade was easy to install and can be completely done from the inside. I did not have to get on the roof at all! I my case I did not need all of the parts in the kit but the kit does come complete with everything you will need EXCEPT for a crimp connector or two. The hardest part is installing the rain sensor from the inside as you cannot see it and do it by feel. Still easy just a bit of time.
Purchased this Upgrade Kit primarily to repair an older unit that the circuit board had failed. Shipping was fast and the unit was easy to install following the included instructions, my older unit is now back up and running better than before.

I live in my RV full time and after installing the upgrade kit a year ago the unit is still working flawlessly!
Installed the upgrade in a 2020 T@B400. The installation was fairly straightforward but the instructions are not exceptional, read them a couple times and you will find answers to any questions you may run in to. The upgrade itself is great, using the remote is much easier than knobs on the old fan and the additional settings allow us to run the fan at a very low speed for venting with almost no noise. It is a great upgrade and you should not be afraid of the installation.
Etrailer provided easy ordering, fast shipping, and immediate and useful help with a small issue. The fan is exactly what we needed to upgrade our existing roof vent to one with more speeds that uses a much smaller portion of our battery storage.
Going to make using the fan so much eas ier
The product is great, but I already knew that before ordering from doing research. What impresses me the most is e-trailer's customer service. Proactive communication on order status and follow through to ensure all is well with the order and product is rare these days, but e-trailer does it right! I will continue to use e-trailer for my RV needs.
Awesome kit! Everything I needed to upgrade my existing fan. Installation was approximately 1 hour and everything worked the first time. I used the unit after the installation and was surprised that I really liked the thermostat control feature. The addition of the remote control was what I wanted most and was not disappointed!
My rating is an expectation based on past experience. The product is from FanTastic, and their reputation is already very established. I am expecting the upgrade kit to be a good purchase and welcome addition. The "FIVE" star rating is for etrailer and their service. We've purchased from them in the past, and have never been unhappy. This upgrade kit was delivered several days in advance of my expectations. Thank you, etrailer!
I purchased this product because the rain sensor on the existing vent fan failed and the water shorted out the circuit board. Could not get a reasonably priced replacement board. This product is not exactly the same as the original, but I was able to get it put back together with minimal frustration. Do Not forget about the jumper for the remote speed contour unit...
Great upgrade for my manual 3 speed fan. Automatic open/close of the cover, better motor range, thermostat for temp control, and especially important to me - much lower power consumption at lower fan speeds.
The only issue I had was that the new arm for the cover did not fit the model of fan I have (2019). The good news is that the original one works just fine with the cover motor supplied.

After a year the fans and remotes are working just fine. The new lid motors are about twice as fast as the old slower units. The lids open and close faster and seem quieter - maybe since they dont run as long. Thanks again etrailer!
