The Equalizer hitch parts I received were exactly what I needed to adapt our trailer hitch setup to a new tow vehicle. More importantly, Martha was super helpful - understood what I was trying to accomplish, and found the right parts for us. Great experience!

by:

Well I guess it was my fault I was needing 10” drop
Instead of a 6” drop but that’s what the lady at camper dealership gave me item number

by:

Just what I needed to raise the ball to the proper height

Still Working good

by:

The first one they shipped was the wrong one. Called customer service on
Wednesday had right one by Friday. Exchange/return was a minor inconvenience. I will give them great marks for their expedient handling as I needed it to set up hitch for weekend hunting excursion. Went from crossover to truck, thus the need for more drop. Went together with hitch head in about an hour and I was on my way. Thanks for the great service.

Great

by:

Part is exactly as expected and came in on time. Price was a full $70 cheaper (including shipping) than direct from the manufacturer. I'm (again) a happy customer.

by:

Outstanding response, explanations, and service.

Thank you,

Wayne Johnson

Turned out, to be just what I needed. I have 5.5ft bed in my truck. Pulling my trailer now allows me to drive with the tailgate down and my dirt bike in the bed. Only thing to keep an eye on is your turning radius, it's not as tight. Overall, well built. But if the hitch pin hole was 2 inches longer, it would help with the turning radius. I like it.

by:

Works perfectly!. Solved our turning radius problem between our trailer A-Frame mounted bike rack (Lippert Jack-It 2) and the canopy on our P/U.

by:

My Tahoe hatch would hit my RV jack when opening. Adding this shank made it open completely, without hitting. One thing to remember is to check your safety chains length. To insure they reach to connect to you tow hitch.

by:

I needed the longer shank to to clear my lift gate hitting my propane tanks. Works great!!! Came 1 day sooner than expected

by:

Great for those that need a bit more room between the trailer jack and tailgate while hitched up!

by:

This hitch gave me the extra clearance I needed to be ble to open my tailgate with the trailer in place. It changed the flex point on the trailer ball a little but not enough to make a difference. It solved a problem for me.

by:

Required a longer shank in order to completely drop my tailgate when towing our travel trailer. Initially notified by eTrailer that this particular shank was out of stock, and they offered an alternate. Chose to wait; surprised that stock was replenished sooner than expected. ETrailer staff were proactive keeping me informed.

by:

This is a BEEFY hitch shank. Works perfect with my Equal-i-zer weight distribution system.

by:

This was a great purchase I have a ram 1500 with a 5 7 bed. I was hesitant that I would not have enough clearance for the golf cart with the tailgate down but after finding this wdh it did the job. Of course I had to lengthen my chains and extend my 7 pin cable but this does the job and worlds great with the weight distribution. My first time out I got stuck in a tight camping spot but even in a tight spot never made contact with my tailgate. I absolutely recommend and will post pictures. Ram 1500 5.7 hemi

by:

The original shank that came with the hitch had been cut off short, to stop dragging the ground when I was out Boondocking. Now I have had the axles flipped to raise the trailer higher, so I needed to flip the shank pointing up to get the correct ball height. The shank also needed to be back to its original length. Now the trailer rides level and the shank will not drag.

It shipped the same day as my order, and UPS got it to me in 2 days. Great products and service from Etrailer.

by:

Arrived in time to continue trip back home in Eastern Washington from Dallas area. Previous hitch was too short and couldn't open the tailgate and sharp turn I'd rub the propane covers on the tailgate. Both issues resolved. Thanks for quick attention.

by:

I needed this because with the shorter shank that I got when I originally purchased the Equal-i-zer hitch, the tailgate on the F-150 I recently purchased could not be opened without hitting the jack on our trailer. This moves the hitch ball out so that there will be a lot of clearance and there should be no more problems opening the tailgate. It also will provide more clearance between the truck and trailer for those tight turns.

by:

Allowed me to put my golf cart in the back of my truck with the tailgate down and still pull my camper.

by:

The 18" long, 4" drop Equal-i-zer shank was the perfect replacement for my current shank. I now have enough clearance to drop my tailgate in virtually any position with my RV attached. All I had to do is remove the old hitch and transfer it to my my new shank (about 5 minutes). I should have done this years ago.

by:

The product was fine but the box it arrived in was torn and the product in view.

by:

perfect to be able to tow with tailgate down for motorcycles

  • Recommended Weight Distribution Shank for Horse Trailer With Total Weight of 6,900 lbs
If I'm understanding correctly, it sounds like what you need is a weight distribution shank with the correct amount of rise or drop, which the Weigh Safe you referenced would not be used for. In order to figure the right amount of rise or drop, you need to measure from the ground to the top of the inside of your hitch receiver and then measure from the ground to the bottom of your trailer's coupler and find the difference between the two measurements. If the height of your hitch is greater,...

  • Can a Weight Distribution with Sway Control System be Used on Lifted Truck
You can certainly use a weight distribution system on your lifted truck. The key will be to find a weight distribution shank that offers you enough drop to be able to tow your trailer level. Weight distribution systems are available without a shank so that you can choose the one that works best for you. For example, if you have a trailer that has a loaded and ready to tow tongue weight somewhere around 1,000 pounds, a system like the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution with 4-Point Sway Control...

  • Replacement Shank for Equal-I-zer 4,000 Pound Weight Distribution Systems
For your 4,000 pound Equal-I-zer weight distribution system I recommend shank # EQ90-02-4340. It has the proper hole diameter to mount the head to the shank (5/8 inch). You can also use # EQ90-02-4240 or # EQ90-02-4140. The Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution Shank # EQ90-02-4400 has the mounting holes with a 3/4 inch diameter. The head on your 4K Equal-I-zer system should be using 5/8 inch diameter bolts so it would not work with this shank.

  • Does Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System EQ37041ET Come With a Shank?
The Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution # EQ37041ET does not come with a shank. This system has a tongue weight capacity of up to 400 lbs and there are three shanks compatible with that weight capacity, each of which are 12" long and fit 2" hitches: # EQ90-02-4140 offers up to 7" of rise or 3" of drop # EQ90-02-4240 offers up to 8" of rise or 4" of drop # EQ90-02-4340 offers up to 10" of rise or 6" of drop

  • Recommended Weight Distribution Shank for Equalizer EQ37100ET with More Drop Than Stock Shank
I do have a solution for you, but you will need to use a weight distribution shank that is compatible with your Equalizer # EQ37100ET weight distribution system and not one that has been altered. I recommend using the Equal-i-zer Weight Dist Shank - 12" Long - 7" Rise, 3" Drop - 600 to 1,400 lbs TW # EQ90-02-4100, which is compatible with your Equalizer system. This keeps your warranty in tact and is the best solution for this problem. If you need something with more drop then you can...

  • Troubleshooting 2K Trailer Sway While Towing with a 2021 Ram 2500 Cummins
It sounds like your camper is catching wind on the highway and causing that sway you're talking about. To remedy this you need to invest in a weight distribution system that includes sway control. Normally weight distribution is only used if the trailer weighs at least half the weight of the tow vehicle but it sounds like in your case there is an exception. For a weight distribution system I recommend checking out the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System # EQ37040ET which has the proper...

  • Recommendation For Weight Distribution For R-Pod 171
When selecting a weight distribution system for your R-Pod 171, the key factor is the tongue weight (TW) of your towing setup. This means the total load of your trailer with all the gear and supplies included. You will also need to add any weight from behind your tow vehicle's rear axle to determine total tongue weight. TW is 10% to 15% of the total weight of your fully loaded trailer. For example: a trailer fully loaded at 3,500-lbs would have a TW of 350-lbs to 525-lbs. Ideally,...

We have the perfect option for a your lightweight Scamp 13 trailer for a weight distribution system with sway control that will also allow you to back up with the system connected, which is the following: - Fastway e2 Weight Distribution with 2-Point Sway Control # FA92-00-0450 There are a number of reasons why I really like the Fastway, starting with its highly effective sway control, which occurs via friction at two points on the brackets to keep your trailer from moving. • Recommended Weight Distribution System for 2016 Ram
In order to choose the best weight distribution hitch, you will first need to know your total tongue weight. That weight is going to be the tongue weight of your fully loaded and ready to go 2018 R-Pod 180 plus the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of your 2016 Ram. To determine this you can use a scale such as the Sherline # 5780 or by using one of the methods outlined in the help article on determining tongue weight I've linked for you.
