If you're like me and you love the country you live in, the Erickson Flag Pole Holder is gonna be able to give you a spot, so you can fly the American flag, also, for some of these sports teams you wanna rep or even if you're in some sort of parade. It's gonna be made of steel, has a black powder coated finish, so you can leave it on here throughout the seasons. You have a little J-hook that connects it, it doesn't take hardly any time at all to install it on your truck. So let's go test out and see how sturdy it really is by taking it down on the road. There's not really a whole lot to this product, it's a no-drill installation, which is nice, so we're gonna show you that, but also, the only thing that's gonna limit it is the diameter of your pole, so anything from zero to inch and a half is gonna fit into this hole, and then the set screw's gonna allow us to kinda tighten it down. We went about 45-ish miles an hour, but I think this thing is rock solid enough to where if you we're to go on the highway with a couple of flags, I don't really think it's gonna damage you.
If you do have a drop-in bedliner, it's gonna be hit or miss if it's gonna work or not. The J-hooks aren't really that big, so I don't think it's gonna be an issue, but if you do have a tonneau cover and it has the rails on the inside, probably not gonna work, but if you do have it on top of the rail tonneau cover and you have it folded back in the safe stow position while you're driving, you will be able to install this as well. So I just think it's a kind of a neat little thing for tailgating or just whatever you may be doing. We wanna take our piece here, and this top piece is gonna go on the side of our truck, and then we're gonna take our little feet, the flat parts, towards the inside underneath that rail, and then, while we hold that into place, we're gonna put two washers on there, and then we're gonna have a nylon locknut, and to tighten this down, we're gonna need a 3/4 inch socket. And while you're doing it, the little hook is gonna want to try to rotate on you, it's not really a big deal if it does, as long as it just stays underneath inside this lip here, we're pretty much good to go.
So I wanna tighten this one up, not all the way, just until it kinda supports itself. I wanna make sure that little curved piece stays on the edge, so it's nice and tight. And then once it kinda starts to support itself a little bit, we can do the same exact thing for our other one over here. And then once we get it pretty tight where there's no wiggling or anything, just turn it maybe an extra quarter turn, and now, we're ready for a flag. Loosen this up a little bit, insert the flag, tighten it up, maybe takes some pliers or something to get it super, super tight, and once it's in there, fly your flag up high, and turn some heads.
And that'll do it for a look at the Erickson Truck Bed Flag Pole Holder.

These things work great. There are some things to note about the usage and how well they work. 1. Where you place them on your vehicle will determine how much they shake. When I use them near the front of the bed of the truck, I can easily install heavier flags, andor go at much higher speeds without fear of pole failure. The cab is blocking the wind at the pole. When I use it near the rear of the bed, lighter flags work better. These holders lock everything into place at any location. 2. I have used these in parades, and on runs at speeds up to 50mph. When on a parade route, pray for some wind, otherwise the flags will rarely flutter average speed of a parade is less than 5 mph. 3. They will scratch your flagpole. Nothing can prevent this as the wind and resistance from the flags will jostle the poles around, a little. The poles I use are much smaller than the hole. 4. I glued some rubber to the contact points, to prevent damage to the truck. It has worked great, and can be purchased for cheap at any hardware store. One square should be enough for both holders. Have fun showing your support to whatever you want country, politician, sports team, etc.
