Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at this Fastway Trailer Hitch Ball Cover with the tether for a two and five sixteenths diameter hitch ball. Now this cover will help protect your trailer hitch ball from the elements when you're not towing. Helps keep the hitch ball grease on the ball where it belongs. And what's nice, this'll hang from the ball while you're towing, so you won't lose the cover. Has this built-in tether here that'll wrap around the ball during installation.
So all you have to do is pop the cover off and then it'll hang in place. This is constructed of a nice durable weather resistant rubber. And it does install very quickly and easily. You just slip it over the hitch ball. The integrated fins on the inside and these tabs here help grip the ball, help hold it in place.
And it is designed to fit two and five sixteenths diameter trailer hitch balls. Now I happened to pull one of those hitch balls, just to show you how this would install. So basically what you would do is take your circle portion of the tether here and first put that, stretch this over the ball itself. Once you get that over there, now you can see that it'll just hang in place when you're towing. And when you're not towing, you just take this, push it down over there and it is a nice snug fit.
And once you get it down over the ball, just like that. And now it's protecting it. And again, it stays in place. And then when you're ready to tow, all you have to do is just pry this off. And as I mentioned, as you can see, it is a very snug fit, so you don't have to worry about it bouncing around or flopping.
And then once you get this off the ball, go ahead and hook up your trailer and then just leave that hanging. Simple as that. But that should do it for the review on this Fastway Trailer Hitch Ball Cover with the tether for a two and five sixteenths diameter hitch ball..

Performs as expected
Fits perfectly on my goose ball hitch. Will be nice not to get grease on everything I put in the bed of the truck!
I like that it securely covers the hitch without clinging too tighly such that removing it also removes grease from the hitch ball.

A breeze to install, no more grease on my trousers. We will see how it performs over the long term.

the teather broke off almost right away..my fault. this item still protects me from hitch ball grease.
Fastway ball covers fit well and the tether is a great idea, don't have to find something to wrap it in and a place to store it until your done towing. The ball mount bag is another great idea, but use the ball cover so you don't get grease inside the bag.

I've never used a hitch ball cover but, I'm excited to give this new product a try. I'm hoping it will protect and extend the life of my current hitch ball for many years to come.

Perfect fit.
The trailer hitch cover works like it should. I like that it attaches with an extra band around the ball so when you take the top off it dangles so you can't lose it. It also has rubber sections that close the bottom so less dirt and mud can get onto the ball. Looks very easy to clean if needed...just rinse off. Happy customer.

still working fine, l i really like the band that keeps it there where you need it.
Most hitch ball covers are designed by people who do not know how their product should work.
Using other covers with a tight fit bottom simply wipes the grease off of the ball and onto the bottom of the cover making more of a mess, and where do you store it?
Someone who designed this cover actually took the time to realize what is required and maybe used the product.
Nice product. It should do the job.
The best ball cover I have seen and I will order a few more in the future for my 2" balls, which this also fits. Most of the covers are a flexible plastic and this one is more like rubber. I purchased this one solely due to the retention strap so the cover stays with the ball in use or in storage. This cover fits my 2 5/16" balls snugly and my 2" balls okay.
Inside the cover where it slips over the ball, there are two methods of keeping the cover on the ball; 1) three vertical ribs from bottom to top and 2) five petals spread around the bottom. On my 2 5/16" balls, the petals contact the grease as it slides over the balls and tends to spread a small amount of grease onto the ball mount assembly, which just creates more of a potential, future mess possibly, in my storage bag. I removed the petals and the cover still fits well in a static test. Time will tell how this mod works in practice going down the road with the cover in place over the ball, which I think the petals are designed to help retain. I will not remove the petals on the balls for my weight distributing head assembly since that is not stored in a bag.
Easy to install. Covers the ball completely and will keep you from getting grease on your pants by bumping into it. Plus it will keep your hitch ball from rusting. If the hitch ball has a little bit of grease on it the retainer ring will slip on easily.
This is a really good product for preventing grease on pant leg when trailer is unhooked. The cover dangles when pulling trailer but the rubber leash has not yet broken after 3k miles at 70+ mph.
This keeps the grease from the ball off your clothes! The attached ring is great and prevents you having to remember to get a cover and put it back on. Just let it dangle when towing.
Great product. Used both the 2 inch and 2 5/16 to cover balls that were greased. The design works, staying on the ball and not removing the grease when taking them off and on.
The cap fits just fine, should do an excellent job of keeping dirt and rain out of plug. It's too bad the cat got to it before I had a chance to install it, and chewed the tether ring in two. Have not used ball cover yet but fits well.
Great product. The only ball cover I know of that does not remove the grease on the ball.
Also, being rubber not PVC could weather does not affect its flexibility. I have the same comments for all three sizes.
I use a ball grease that easy gets on my cloths, when not hooked up I right away cap the ball. Love this product.

The strap holding the cover on tore within the first week. Garbage! Etrailer did nothing to help. DO NOT BUY. It's a great idea but poorly made.
