AJ: What's up everybody, it's AJ with etrailer.com. Today we're going to be checking out a Fulton heavy-duty winch strap on our boat trailer here. Now when you buy a winch, sadly, it comes with a normal, basic winch strap, that's probably not going to be heavy-duty enough to hold up to what you need it for, such as this big boat today. We replaced the strap on here that was already fraying and damaged from the sun, because we needed something that was way more heavy-duty, and I think this strap is going to do it. Let's check it out.Looking at the strap side by side, you can already see the difference. Not only is this one been on there a little longer, it's a little more damaged, but this one's already thicker, and it seems just like a more heavy-duty material compared to the seatbelt style strap we have here.
You see some of the threads came out on this one, prompted it to start ripping. This one, if you can see the design here, there's a lot more zigzags. It feels like it's going to be more reinforced overall. So I don't think you're going to have this ripping up problem on this strap.You come in the front and look at the hook, the hook is thicker here at the front and top too, and not to mention this gate here works just fine. This one, it's been worn out.
It moves, but it just stays where you push it, and that's not helpful when you're trying to keep it hooked onto the boat. With the hook side by side, I also want to point out that this one is zinc plated. So it's going to not end up like this one over time. It's going to stay and keep its finish and not rust and corrode. The strap itself is 20' long by 2".
It also has a safe working load limit of 4,000 pounds and a break point limit of 10,000 pounds. And what that means is, when they we're testing it, it seemed to break around 10,000 pounds. It's going to give you plenty of strength for whatever you're hauling.It's definitely time to get this one off the winch and install the new one. So I'm going to back out the strap so I can get to the hardware. It looks like when they installed this one, they ran it through the holes here on the side to keep in place.
So I'm going to try and work those out. Another option you have is you could just cut it and move on. We're going to try and get all this old strap out.Now ready to install our new strap. You see the loop here, we're going to run the bolt through this side of the winch, through this loop and to the other side. Now it doesn't come with hardware, so you're going to need to have your own. Now I'm going to add the nut to the other side. Just going to get a couple of turns with a wrench. With our nut tightened down on this side, we're ready to go ahead and crank in the strap. We're going to go ahead and attach our hook to the boat, and pull it tighter. Now with our strap pulled tight between the winch and the boat, we're done. It was that easy to install, and that heavy-duty strap is going to last a lot longer than that original one did. That does it for our look at the Fulton winch strap. Hope that helps.

which i did, and you can disassemble your winch ( get spool off) bolt head broke off’ 1998 shorelander profile 2000; bolt was seized inside sleeve”

Product fit perfectly on winch. Strap appears to be much stronger than original on trailer. You must save and use original bolt or purchase a new one to attach to the trailer winch. I purchased a stainless steel nut and bolt for about 2.00 USD. Overall etrailer came through for me again. Great product, Price was nice and standard shipping delivered my item in three days. What can I say...It's a strap. It's yellow. It's strong. It's got a loop in the end to attach it to your trailer winch. And it's got a BIG hook. Everything I needed to replace the rope that was on my winch. Now there will be no worries cranking the boat up onto the trailer at the ramp. I'm a happy camper (boater).

Its been a year and the strap still works. I am noticing some fraying around the area where the hook connects to the strap, but I think I should get another year out of them before I seriously need to look at replacing them.

As described and as expected - manufacturer brand OEM replacement. Prior was original to the trailer and weathered - eventually broke. Nice being able to find OEM from a high service company like etrailer.

This is a good strap, but it requires a larger winch spool, most likely for larger boats. I have a 20' boat and was concerned about the thickness of the strap being too much for the spool, and I saw a couple of reviews indicating that concern. I called and the rep told me it would be ok. However, I'm finding it's too thick, so it wraps over the spool and gets cut by the top of the spool. Will need to replace it soon.

I am totally delighted with my experience with etrailer. Their winch strap has a higher working load rating than I could find anywhere else, and the price point is below other less sturdy models elsewhere. It was shipped immediately, and arrived in just a few days even though I elected for the cheapest shipping. All contacts with this company have been professional and satisfying. The strap itself is super sturdy and the right length at 20 ft (longer ones form too high a roll and are in danger of falling off the sides of my winch drum).

I just received my Fulton Winch Strap, model FWS20D0200 from etrailer.com as my original strap had recently snapped after 5 years of solid use. The product I received is what I expected. I'm not a fan of the new yellow color would have preferred black, but hey, it's a winch strap. I hope this strap holds up as long as the first.

The product is as advertised and arrived promptly on time. I installed it and it worked perfectly. This is a much stronger strap than the lighter models originally installed on my trailer and this gives me a much greater piece of mind. It does take a large winch wheel so make sure that you have a large winch wheel before you order one or you will need to replace that also. Mine was plenty large with room to spare, but my old strap looked puny on the wheel, so I was fairly certain that it would fit.

I rated this product based on the look and feel of it. To give an honest opinion I would need to install it on my boat trailer and use it for a few months - then I would be happy to come back and give a report.
