AJ: What's up, everybody It's AJ with Etrailer.com. Today we're going to check out this multi-arm rubber adjuster for your tire chains. Now this is from Glacier Chains. What you're going to do is you're going to put this on your chain that might be kind of loose and not fitting super tight to your tires before you add the adjusters but you can see with the adjusters, nice and tight, I can barely move that chain at all. Let's check them out.So now we're going to remove the adjuster. This one's pretty tight, you do have to pull on it just a little bit to slide it out, which is a good thing.

Now they're removed, you can see what I'm talking about. I can easily pull on this chain, it moves around. You don't want that happening while you're driving on the road.Just so you know, these come in three different sizes, this is the passenger car size, you can also get light truck and heavy truck. So make sure you get the right adjuster for the right chains for the right vehicle. Now I'd like to show you another option that's a rubber adjuster that we offer. There's this one, that's kind of this rubber ring with these hooks that go around it and it's different already because there's no arms and the hooks you can remove too.

So that's one thing that's kind of against it is that these can pop off. And I like that they're attached on this one. You don't have to worry about them ever popping off. So if I accidentally pop this one off or a couple of them and I go to use this at the last minute and it's missing those hooks, I'm out of luck. It's not going to tension these chains and that's not going to help me when I'm driving. Now versus that, this one's altogether and it's got these rubber arms and I've seen them break before but you're not going to put them through as much as we've put them through.

We test fit tire chains all day long some days and so these get a lot of use, more use than you probably would, using it for driving a couple times a year, if that's what you use it for, they're going to hold up just fine. But that's also one of the negatives with this. But I still prefer this style over this style just because it's all together, it's complete. I can throw it in the back of the car and know that all the parts I need are going to be there when I need them.So as you saw, this works very well at getting that tension on these chains that might be loose like this and shouldn't be driving on them. This is going to be that solution that pulls them nice and tight and keeps it all together when you're not using it, that way it's easier to find, throw them on the chains and you get on your way in the snow and ice.Well thanks for hanging out.

I hope this helped.

These chain tensioners are the best I’ve ever used. I have 35 inch tires and actually use two of these on each wheel so there is a tightener between every link. I plan to purchase more when these wear out.

by:

Works very well stays put, even in deep snow and very icy conditions spinning

So far product is working fine. I only use them for my tractor when we’re moving snow and ice, it definitely holds the chains on even when you’re spinning

by:

Almost too large for chains on a 20” tire but they are built very heavy duty. So far no concern of it breaking like the light duty style.

Follow up: was initially used on 285 55 r20. They were a little long but cut them down to proper length and worked perfect. I really like them. Got a second set of tire for pickup, 275 70 r18. Little bit looser on the narrower tire but still working great!

While we havent had to use these cables during our travels, we know they will do the job and remain grateful for etrailers great customer service!

by:

The product appears to be a quality product. I needed to cut the links to fit my particular tire and they fit great and the cam adjuster snug the chain tight to the tire. Etrailer followed up on my satisfaction and I told them I snapped one of the legs on the tensioner and etrailer sent me a new set that I received days later. Great service from etrailer!

by:

These cables fit the tires on my F-250 perfectly ( 275/65 R-20). The instructions are easy to read and understand ( I've used other tire chains before) and the installation is painless. I got the first one on in just over 5 minutes the second went on in 3 1/2 minutes. This was a trial fitting in a dry driveway so I strongly think a 15 minute installation is possible in more severe weather conditions. Thank you very much your service team went out of their way to contact me when one of my parts had a slight delay. Ted vG

Hi Carol,

The chain packaging was
op0ened and looked pre-used with holes in the sack as well.

There were no cable ends included to pull the chains over the tires so I am unsure these are correct for 235/55 R20 tires as listed. For now will use another vehicle, I may need to exchange thes, ideally that will not be a problem for you guys.

thank you!

We received our order early. Always nice, and particularly this time, as we are going on a trip that will take us across mountain passes and into Idaho, where snow is predicted. These tire chains and adjusters are for our motorhome, and we hope to never have to use them, but having them is reassuring, and so solves the potential problem of being without if chains are necessary and/or required. When we use them we'll send pictures.

by:

Great product, bought to use with the Glacier Tire chains I purchased from Etrailer. Worked like a charm ! Would highly recommend them to anyone running chains !!

by:

Was panicked that the listed delivery date for the ordered cable chains would be missed and we would be unable to drive from central Oregon to Arizona in my 40 foot diesel pusher pulling a pickup because I couldn’t comply with the Carry Chains requirement for most of my route through Oregon and Northern California. However, they arrived when promised, even though it was over the Christmas Holiday, and we are happy campers. Thank you so much etrailer.

by:

These guys are awesome!!! I have a odd size truck tire. BFG's A/T 285/65R20. I called in and the lady I spoke with was very nice and very informative. I needed these chains in 2 days. When I ordered I gave her my address, but was using a company credit card with a different billing address. She realized this and advised me there may be a issue getting them in time due to they way the credit card would process. Had she not caught this, I would not have recieved them in time. Once they arrived, on time, they are great. Excellent quality. Easy to put on. I ordered tensioners as well. They are not needed, but they get the chains really tight. I would recommend them to anyone.

by:

Just received my Chains today for my Excursion 22x45x305, was suppose to have received them Friday, but do to weather UPS was not able to send them! When I call customer service they researched them and found that they had been held up in L.A. and that I wouldn't be getting them till Monday, Which where delivered at 9 am this morning! The representative was professional and handle this situation in a timely matter. Even thou the product got here late at no fault of ETrailer they handle it perfectly! Will be using them on my next trip to the Mountains! Another happy customer!!

by:

Really like theses. Seems to make the chains even tighter to help prevent any damage to the rims.

by:

The one that I ordered in the past ripped apart as I was driving and slightly scratched my car, but it was a long time ago and I was driving faster than I should have (I was driving 45-50 miles per hour on a somewhat icy road), I haven't ordered a new one since then

by:

Ordering and delivery was simple and fast. Can't wait to try them out when I head up to Montana in November.

by:

I haul logs in the Pacific Northwest, we chain up 2 to 4 times a day in the winter. This product is easier to deal with than individual bungees.

by:

Great service and product.

by:

Easy to install and use. They're a real time saver.

by:

I have not used the tire chains yet but was grateful for the prompt recommendation for tire chains and chain tensioners for my vehicle. The order arrived on time in just a few days and is now waiting for use!

by:

Never had to use it. Bought this because it was long term predicted to snow during the time frame of a 2019 winter trip to Las Vegas. However the worst we encountered was a very light dusting with nothing accumulating on the highway. The product is stored in my Suburban, next to the jack, just in case.

by:

Tire chains arrived in a timely manner, and everything worked great!

by:

I like that etrailer called to tell me the adjuster I ordered was on back order and they had a similar item that was in stock. When I accepted the change, items were shipped out the next day. Good Job!

by:

Product fits great, fantastic service!

by:

I installed them for the first time today (my first for any tire chain). The instructions could be a little clearer for first time users. Your pictures are useless.
No problems once I figured out the steps.
Nice product.
Impossible to get it back in the bag after first use - broke the zipper on my bag. Could use a much better bag or bigger bag.

Overall a very good product.

Got these for my chains at Etrailer. Worked well. Bungees are a must to keep your chains tight

  • Tire Chain Recommendations for 295/65R20 and 35x12.50x17 Tires on a 2021 Chevy Silverado 2500
I definitely have some chains that fit the tires you mentioned for your 2021 Chevy Silverado 2500, but since your tire sizes are very different you're going to need different sets of chains for the different tire sizes. Here is what I recommend for each tire size you mentioned: 295/65R20 - # PWE2226SC (also use Tensioners # PW103) 35x12.50x17 - # TC2337 The chains for the 20" rims are standard ladder-style chains which is why I recommend using the tensioners to give you a nice, snug...

Thanks so much for reaching out to us and including the picture with your tire size 35x12.5x18. For great tire chains for your size on your lifted 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 4x4, the chains that will have the least bumper clearance requirement for your truck is the pewag All Square Snow Tire Chains with Cam Tighteners for Wide-Base Tires # PWE3231SC. • Tire Chains for a 2010 Ford F-150 with P275/55R20 Tires
The problem is that the larger the wheel and tire size the less clearance there is all around the tire. There may be plenty of clearance between the tread and the wheel wells but limited space between the inner sidewall and the truck. The limited clearance could result in the chains hitting a vehicle component and causing damage. The Class S rated cable chains that fit this size are # PW2028C. Class S means that the chains need less than 15 millimeters between tire sidewall and the vehicle....

Since ice is a concern then the V-Bar Chains # TC3829 will be the best choice. You are correct the V-bars links of this chain do an excellent job crushing ice to provide great traction. When using chains like this it is highly recommended to use a set of rubber adjusters to keep the chain secured to the tire. I really like the Multi-Arm # PW103 design because if one arm were to fail the others would keep the chain secure unlike the competitors single rubber band with multiple hooks. I...
