These diodes help prepare your towed car's lighting system to connect with your RV's to get the brake, tail, and turn signal lights required for towing. Just insert the wires into the diode boxes and snap them shut - no crimping or stripping.

Hopkins Quick-Lock diodes make wiring your towed car a snap - literally. Whereas traditional diode kits require that the wires be stripped, crimped, and twisted to be fit into spade connectors, the diodes in this kit do the work for you. Just insert the wires into the diode box and snap down the lid to splice the wires together.
Some automobiles operate on a 3-wire system, in which the brake signal and the turn signals travel along different wires to illuminate different lights. (Typically, these vehicles have amber turn signals.) This is referred to as a "separate lighting system." When you wire your vehicle using these diodes, your towed car's lighting system will operate in a combined fashion regardless of whether it typically has combined or separate lighting. This means that the brake and turn signals sent by your RV to your towed car will be carried on a single wire. As a result, your car's brake lights will do the flashing for the turn signals. Your vehicle will still function as designed when not hooked up to your RV.
Note: If your RV operates on a 3-wire system - and it does not currently have a 4-way trailer connector installed - you may need to use a 3-to-2 wiring converter (RM-732 - sold separately).
If your towed vehicle normally operates on a 3-wire system and you want to retain that functionality, you can add on 2 additional Quick-Lock diodes (HM56306 - sold separately). If your RV operates on a 2-wire system, you will also need to use a 2-to-3 wiring converter (118158 - sold separately) to break out the separate tail light function.

Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, I'm gonna take a look at the Hopkins Quick-Lock Diodes for your towed vehicles. This is for a quantity of four diodes. Now, these Hopkins Quick-Lock Diodes will make wiring your towed car a snap. Basically, the traditional diode kits require that your wires will have to be stripped, crimped, and twisted to fit into spade connectors before you make your connections.
With these diodes in this kit, they do the work for you. All you have to do is just insert the wires into the diode box. Snap the lid shut to splice the wires together. Now, this kit does prepare your towed car's lighting system to accept your RV's tail, brake, and turn signal lights, which are required for towing. These do allow electrical flow in one direction only, so it prevents electrical feedback and the damage that, that can cause to your towed vehicle.
These won't interfere with your vehicle's electrical system when it's not hooked up to your RV. And as we mentioned, it requires no crimping or stripping of wires. Basically, just wanna zoom in closer here and show you. But if you look at, you can see right here in the box itself, you place each wire in the corrected V-shaped metal slot in the diode blocks. You can see two up here and one down here.
Once you get the wires in there, just take your lid, hook it on one side, and push it down close, and that'll automatically make your connections. Now, it does come with four packs of terminal grease, so when you do make your connection in here, you do wanna make sure to put some terminal grease on there to prevent any problems with it. Now, this is for a quantity of four diodes, and the maximum amperage is five amps per diode. But that should do it for the review on the Hopkins Quick-Lock Diodes for towed vehicles.

It would be great if they would come with an individualized, vehicle specific install guide with wire colors and locations.
I used these diodes to create a wiring harness for my Jeep Gladiator. I purchase an integrated product that plugged into the tail light sockets on my other vehicles, but was not available for this new model. These worked great in creating a plug and play wiring harness. If I have a problem, I can simply unplug the harness and restore the wiring to factory settings. I have used these for a year with no problems and expected performance.
Everything I ordered was received sooner than expected. Service is exceptional. All personnel I spoke with are very knowledgeable about their products, highly recommend them!
Great diode kit. Did the trick 100%. r>

One year later and I don’t have to worry about my lights. Not a single issue so far.
