What's up everybody It's AJ with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna be checking out a replacement surge module for our 30 amp power watchdog with EPO. Now it's going to work on the hard wired version and the standard version. Let's check it out. This is going to be that part that you replace on the inside here after a few surges and you know, down the line, it burns out. You don't have to buy a whole new unit.
You can just get this part. First step. We flipped it over and we're gonna remove these screws on the side. That way we can get this top open. We just need a Phillips head screwdriver.
We'll start taking them out. With the screws removed around the edges we're going to go to the sides. It's gonna be two of these on each side. So we'll have to get these out of here on the hard wire one. Now the only difference with all of this is the standard version.
And these screw-on caps you'll have to remove. So there's not screws you have to remove. You just take that off because that holds it together too. And you're gonna do that one and this one on the other side. But for our hard wire one, just going to remove these longer screws and the edge.
With all the screws removed, we just take the top off of there. Now we have a better look on the inside. This is the part we're going to remove. Just slides out pretty easily. I'll undo the clips from there. The trick with these plugs is you just pry out on it, on that tab. You can see it loosens up and we'll unplug. Now we can remove our old board and bring our new one in. Matching up the plugs the same way we unplugged it from the other board. After plugging everything in you may notice that this is not plugged in. Well, that's because on the hard wire version, it doesn't have this plug. We're not going to need it. We've plugged in the ones we have, it's the white and the red. Match up the ones that fits. So this one's replaced. If we take a look at the standard version you can see as I slide this out, it does have that plug. So we'll use that plug on this one, and you can notice it doesn't have the red spots to plug into it. We just have this one little white one. So we'll just use that. The board can work with both versions of the surge protector. Just slide it back down in there and it's replaced. With the board slipped back into place and plugged in, you can just go ahead and do the reverse order of what you did to open it up. Then close it all up, get it all nice and tight, and then you've replaced it. It's all good to use. I really like the fact that you don't have to buy a whole new unit. If something does burn out then I can just buy that board, easily replace it, and it's brand new again. Well, thanks for hanging out. And I hope this helped..
