I installed this product on my fifth wheel RV about a year ago. I tow with a f350 drw truck and was always concerned with the way it stopped. Now there are no issues. Best upgrade I have ever made. Product was excellent. Product arrived as promised. customer service was great. Thanks etrailer

Great kit. All the parts fit with a little overlap for some tighter fittings. No spills, no drips, no mess after running the boat and trailer over 1000 miles, braking hard when necessary, if some careless motorist tries to cut in before a tight turn or exit.
Did not have to add any extra brake fluid, once it was installed and purged.

Ask the Experts about this Hydrastar Accessories and Parts

  • Can Actuator, Harness and Brake Lines be Purchased as a Kit?
The HydraStar Vented Marine Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator # HS381-8065 is available in a kit. The HydraStar Marine Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator with Breakaway and 7-Way RV Harness # HS381-9065 features the actuator, breakaway system and 7-way connector. The only other piece you'd need is the brake lines; for a single axle you would want the HydraStar Hydraulic Brake Line Kit # HS496-151 and for a double axle you would want # HS496-152. I've added links to video reviews of these...

  • Advantage of Converting to Electric-Over-Hydraulic Disc Brakes from Electric Brakes
Disc brakes have better stopping power than electric brakes. They're also lower maintenance because they have fewer moving parts. You'll also gain power going to electric over hydraulic because you have the advantage of the stopping power of hydraulic brakes combined with the reaction time of electric brakes. I've linked an article that explains the parts needed to convert to disc brakes. You'll already have some of them like the brake controller and breakaway kit. But electric brakes...

  • Recommended Tandem Axle Brake Line Kit For 16' Trailer With Titan Brake Actuator
I recommend the HydraStar Hydraulic Brake Line Kit # HS496-152 to use with the Titan Brake Actuator # T4848600 on your 16 foot tandem axle trailer with drum brakes. This kit contains a 15' main line to run from your coupler to the front axle and all the other lines and hangers needed from there.

  • Troubleshooting HydraStar Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator for Drum Brakes
I was unable to find an order number for you so I don't know the exact set up you used to install the HydraStar Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator for Drum Brakes - 1,000 psi # HBA-10, but the issue doesn't seem to be the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller # 90885. The issue is almost certainly the wiring or brake lines you are using, and it is strongly recommend you use 10 gauge wire # 10-1-1 for the power lead of the actuator. Additionally, your brake links may be too small in...

  • Parts Needed For Converting 5th Wheel Trailer With Tandem Axles To Disc Brakes
We have just what you need to convert to disc brakes on your fifth wheel trailer. First, I recommend the Kodiak Disc Brake Kit, part # K2HR526D. This is for one axle so for a tandem trailer you will need to order 2 kits. This kit has a 6 on 5-1/2 bolt pattern. The inner bearing has a 1.750 inner diameter and the outer bearing has an inner diameter of 1.250 inches. For a brake line kit I recommend part # HS496-152 for a 15-ft kit, and part # HS496-252 for a 25-ft kit. These are designed...

  • Parts Needed to Convert Trailer With Tandem 15k Axles to Electric Over Hydraulic From Electric
We can get you set up with an electric over hydraulic system for your trailer with 15,000 lb tandem axles. I will say that you will not want to go with the higher pressure 1,6000 psi actuator, which is too high for drum brakes and can potentially blow out the wheel cylinder. What you can do though is go with a 1,200 psi actuator made for drum brakes, which will still give you excellent stopping power. Here is exactly what you will need for your set up: - HydraStar Electric Over Hydraulic...

  • Converting to Electric Over Hydraulic Disc Brakes on 5,200 lb Axle
Thanks for all of that excellent information, and we can put together the parts you need, as we have the exact brakes you are looking for, and just as a note you do need a 5-bolt brake mounting flange like # 4-44-1, so you will want to ensure this is what you have. If so, for the brakes I recommend: - Kodiak Disc Brake Kit - 12" Rotor - 6 on 5-1/2 - Stainless Steel - 5,200 lbs to 6,000 lbs # K2R526S Then for an actuator and breakaway battery combination I recommend the HydraStar Marine...

  • Parts Needed to Add Electric Over Hydraulic Disc Brakes to Trailer
A great disc brake kit for your trailer is the Kodiak # K2HR526D. This includes two brake assemblies with a 6 on 5-1/2 bolt pattern. They include the mounting bolts as welll. Since your trailer has hub and drum assemblies now you need to replace them with rotors. If your trailer is a tandem axle the brake line kit I suggest is the HydraStar # HS496-152. If it isn't a tandem axle or you need a different length I've linked our selection of other HydraStar kits. For an actuator the HydraStar...

  • Determining Correct Replacement Brake Line Kit For 1989/1990 EZ Loader Boat Trailer
We have a wide variety of brake line kits that may work on your 1989/1990 EZ Loader Boat Trailer but the correct kit will be dependent on the length of your specific trailer. For example if your trailer is around 15' we have the HydraStar Hydraulic Brake Line Kit # HS496-152 which includes new main line to run from the surge brake actuator on the trailer to the back of the trailer, and four separate lines to run to each braking assembly. If your trailer is longer then you will need to...

  • Converting From Electric to Electric over Hydraulic Disc Brakes on Two 7,200 lb Dexter Torflex Axles
Thanks for the info and we have all the parts you are going to need to convert from electric to electric-over-hydraulic disk brakes, which is the best braking system you can have for a trailer (most stopping power combined with the best overall control). A Dexter Torflex 7,200 lb torsion axle uses inner bearing # 25580, outer bearing # 02475 and grease seal # GS-2250DL. That info, along with the 8 on 6-1/2" bolt pattern, is all we need to know to get you the right set up, and I'll recommend...

  • Adding Electric Over Hydraulic Disc Brakes to Boat Trailer
While we don't have a go to kit we can build one using parts that are available. First is the HydraStar Vented Marine Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator # HS381-8067. If you are building from scratch we have the HydraStar Marine Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator w/ Breakaway and 7-Way RV Harness # HS381-9067 to include the wiring and battery components. Second is the Kodiak Disc Brake Kit - 12" Hub/Rotor - 6 on 5-1/2 # K2HR526DKG. These assemblies are rust resistant for your boat trailer....

  • Disc Brake Kit with 8 on 6-1/2 Bolt Pattern for 7,000 Pound Axle
Since you have 6 lugs it's very possible you have 6,000 pound axles. But either way you can upgrade to an 8 lug for 7,000 pound axles. You'll need to replace the bearings, races, and seals to match the new sized hubs. The Kodiak Disc Brake Kit # K2HR712E with Bearing Kit # BK3-200 will work great on your trailer. These have an e-coat finish to help prevent corrosion from the elements. If you don't already have disc brakes you're also going to need an electric over hydraulic actuator...

  • Determining Which Replacement Braking Components For Eagle Tandem Axle Boat Trailer
You are correct that you can replace the older Dico 60 surge brake actuator on your Eagle tandem axle trailer, and for that I recommend the Dexter DX7.5 Drop-N-Go Brake Actuator - Drum Brakes - 2" Ball - Zinc Plated - 7,500 lbs # 099-175-00. For new brake lines I recommend going with the HydraStar Hydraulic Brake Line Kit - Tandem Axle - 15' Long, 3/16" Main Line # HS496-152 which is designed specifically for tandem axle trailers. Moving on to the replacement brakes, bearings, and possibly...

  • Converting to Electric Over Hydraulic Disc Brakes From Electric Brakes on Trailer With 7K Axles
There are a number of parts you will need to replace the electric drum brakes on your trailer, and though there is not an all-in-one kit I can let you know the parts you need, starting with a disc brake assembly to replace your current hub and drum. I contacted Lippert with the serial number from you axle and based off what they told me the the correct brake kit is the Kodiak Disc Brake Kit # K2HR712D which is for 7,000 lb axles and has an 8 on 6-1/2" bolt pattern for your wheels. Instead I recommend the Dexter Disc Brake Kit - 12-1/4" Hub/Rotor - Oil - 8 on 6-1/2 - E-Coat - 7,000 lbs # K71-694-695-13 which is already set up for oil bath, but you will need one kit per axle on your trailer.
