MIchael: Hi there. I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today we're going to take a quick look at the Single 12 volt Rocker Switch. This is a simple on/off switch that can be used in your RV or motor home, and it's designed to be the cutoff point for your appliances which are powered by your battery. This is a SPST switch, so basically just the single function, just going out to one application. For those of you who like the specifics, it is going to be capable of 16 amps at 125 volts of alternating current power, 12 amps at 250 volts of alternating current, three quarter horsepower at 125 to 250 volts of alternating current and 10 amps at 14 volts of direct current. It's all a lot of technical information, but basically what you need to know is, if you've got your 12 volt battery hooked up in your RV, this will work for you depending on the application.
If it's just like a simple light bulb that you're turning on and off, it should work just fine. One of the main considerations you're going to want to look at is the size, to make sure that it's going to fit in your current housing. Our overall dimensions we're right about . We'll call that an inch and a quarter tall, and our width, we're just a little bit shy of three quarters of an inch. I'd call it probably about 11/16 if I we're to go that into detail. When you're wanting to install this, you're going to need to make sure that you can get past some of these little flanges here.
You can see on the side, we've got one on that side and one on that side, so you're going to need an opening that is just slightly more than a half an inch wide. And then on the top there, you can see that little flange. These two on the side get pushed in, so that's going to hold it in place, but that one in between there you're going to have to deal with, so you're going to need an opening that is about an inch and a quarter tall. Now, when you're dealing with electrical items, obviously safety is a major concern. You want to ensure that it's not going to cause any electrical fires or anything like that. This switch is approved by the UL, CSA, VDE, and RoHS, so you can trust that it's held to those high quality standards.
It's going to do a good job for you.One thing I will point out, this is the white option, so if you have a white interior, your other light switches are white, this would be a good option for you. There's also a black option available. It's the exact same thing, same dimensions, everything. It's just black in color. You can find the white one using this part number or the black one using the part number that just disappeared there on the bottom of your screen.
Both switches are, like I said, exactly the same, just a different color. On the back here you can see we've got our two prongs. The one in the middle there, that's where your power from your battery is going to hook up, and then the one that's farther out to the side, that is where you are going to hook up your load for going out to your light switch or whatever appliance you have hooked up to this switch. That's the way you want to get this wired up. This is made here in the USA, so you can trust it's held to those high quality standards. It's going to do a good job for you. Very simple on/off switch, but if you're in the market for one of these, I think this is going to do a good job for you. That's going to complete our look at the Single 12 Volt Rocker Switch. Again, I'm Michael with etrailer. Thanks for watching.
