Flexible Rubber Brake Hoses

Kodiak brake hoses are made of rubber, making them a practical choice for a variety of applications. Because you can easily bend them, rubber hoses are simpler to work with than rigid stainless steel brake lines. This flexibility makes rubber hoses great for use with foldaway trailer tongues because they are less likely to kink or break when bent. In addition, rubber hoses allow for a wide range of motion so articulating parts can effectively function. These qualities make rubber hoses better suited than steel lines for trailers with torsion axle suspension systems and trailers that have disc brakes.

Stainless steel brake lines have braided exteriors, which can not only wear against exterior surfaces, but also against the interior lining of the hose if dirt gets underneath the steel braid. And if the braid on a stainless steel line tears, it can cut into the hose lining. The exterior surface of these hoses is solid rubber, so there are no crevices for debris to enter.

Durable Fittings with Deep Threads

Kodiak Hose Flare

Kodiak brake hoses have corrosion-resistant brass fittings with stainless steel flares. These fittings have a gap built into them that allows room for a line wrench - also called a flare nut wrench - to slide over the line and down to the nut. This type of wrench grips the nut better than a standard open-ended wrench so there is less chance of stripping the threads as you tighten down the nut.

The stainless steel that is used to create the flares on these hoses is stronger than brass. As a result, these fittings are more durable than ones made entirely of brass. The stainless flares are primarily designed to keep the fittings from splitting when you tighten them down, but they offer absolute rust protection as well.

Kodiak's fittings have deeper threads than many other fittings on the market to provide a higher thread engagement. Deeper threads offer an advantage when used with fittings that have the same thread depth. These Kodiak fittings will work with most fittings on the market, but when they're used with other Kodiak fittings, the result is a stronger connection with fewer leaks.

Replaced the steel brake lines on my boat trailer with the Kodiak hydraulic hose kit. The materials arrived quickly with all the necessary parts you need to install it. Install was very easy and only took 1/2 day to remove the existing lines, install the new lines and bleed the system. Been using the trailer regularly and it is flawless. I recently removed the existing drum brakes and installed a Kodiak disc brake set up which was just as easy and also performs excellent. Great product at a better price!

I have had no issues with the Kodiak disc. brakes or the Kodiak brake hose set up.Nice to know if someone stops quickly in front of me, I will not have an issue with stopping with 6600lbs+ of boat behind me. Ordered four sets of rotors, pads, calipers and bearings for my other boat. I just asked Chris to figure out what I needed and within 30 minutes I got a complete list and pricing. Thats Good Service! Thanks Chris!

by:

Well I laid everything out and plumbed it all in and most of the fittings leaked. Of which I had to go back twice more to get all but one to stop leaking. Of which nothing I do stops it from leaking. So I guess replace it. You shouldn’t have this issue with new clean parts.

by:

Received one faulty hose which was replaced no questions asked. Overall a decent brake line kit.

by:

Super easy to install and has worked fl awlessly.

by:

Excellent quality great service and fast shipping. Happy happy customer

by:

The new Kodiak brake line kit was extremely easy to install. No instructions needed....now that's what I call a mans job! Ordering was easy, shipment was right on time. This my second purchase from etrailer.com and I will certainly make future purchases as needed and recommendations to friends and family. Here is a picture of my trailer after the install.

by:

Great product. Trailer now has reliable brakes and stops like it should. Very pleased with the results. Installation was time consuming but I wanted to do it right and took my time.

by:

Great kit. Much easier than bending steel lines.

by:

I've had these brakes on for 1yr now and they still look and work great.

by:

Everything was just as described, Lauren was outstanding ensuring i received exactly what I needed. All parts fit perfectly, the online instructional videos where spot on…will not hesitate for future purchases..!!

Oh man, all around not good. I am glad to see that our customer service team has shipped the replacements you need!

by:

This brake line kit (20TA-BLKIT) was easy to install and after 1 year on my tandem axle boat trailer, used in salt water, still looks brand new. No rust, corrosion or leaks and functions as it should. Much better than the steel lines I replaced. I would recommend this brake line kit.

Still working after a year.

by:

The service was awesome and very nice people to deal with. The products were as advertised

by:

The kit install went smoothly because everything fit the way it should. The instructions were accurate and the torque values included helped make it tight.
Much better braking experience than just electric brakes. I took my time replacing all the wheel/hub assemblies but the effort paid off. I highly recommend the Kodiak kit.

Ive put about 9,000 miles on the 5th wheel since converting to the hydraulic disc brakes and Im so much more confident in the handling and performance of the brakes and suspension. It was not the easiest job to do but I took my time and did it right so I know I set everything up correctly. Now I have real stopping power, no fade. Good products, durable and built to last. Thanks, Brian

by:

My concern is not with the quality of the brake line kit but in it's engineering. I understand the push for ease of installation, but I do not agree with it's outcome with these brake lines. Having so much rubber brake line under a trailer leads to 1) huge potential for damage from road debris, especially with extra lines simply coiled up 2) massive loss of brake pedal feel from the enormous amount of rubber which expands under to the very high PSI of a disc brake system. Seeing this I decided to retrofit automotive soft lines for each wheel and bent/flared hard lines for the rest of the trailer. 4' of soft line vs 50'

by:

The products were ordered on Sunday night late, delivered by Wednesday. Converting drum surge brakes to disc, electric over hydraulic on a boat trailer for 26ft Sea Ray boat. I had everything including Titan brake actuator, 4 kodiac rotor and caliper conversion kits with bearings, and new lines installed by Thursday evening. Installation was straight forward, everything fit perfectly. One of the calipers was malfunctioning (not releasing). I called customer service and I had a new one within two days, it's now installed and working great!! Great product! Awesome service!!
Lines all fit great!! Seem to be very high quality!!

by:

Installation was easy, one year after putting on the brakes on I have had zero issues. Money well spent and I would recommend etrailer and kodiak brakes to anyone who wants to switch from drum brakes to hydraulic brakes

by:

Well worth the price, have had these for 1 year. No signs of rust or deterioration. My old brake lines rusted away in 2.5 years. Trailer only goes in salt water. Highly recommend these brake lines. Very easy to install

by:

It's always great doing business with etrailer. All the best products and great service too. The Kodiak brake line kit is better than what came on the trailer from the original manufacturer.

by:

Stripping down a 16 year old 21 ft. salt water use trailer - from end to end. The folks @ etrailer were very knowledgeable, and helpful in my decision making. From placing the order, to tracking the order, to the way the items were packed for transit. Other distributors could learn from these people; in regards to customer service, following up, both office and warehouse. Unloaded the products last night, nothing short, all quality in regards to their products, with great pricing. The installation videos are a big bonus, and something I'll be taking advantage of, during the restoration. Will follow up with picture, (before and after) when I'm done

by:

I purchased this as I had an older trailer and adding brakes to the second axle. This was a super easy set up over using steel! Zero frustration laying it out and easy to install. Great system

by:

Good product and easy to install. Mounting clamps/c-clips were missing upon delivery. Etrailer made it right and sent out replacement clips. Installation was a breeze.

by:

Purchased new brakes and brake lines for my boat trailer. I made an error in my order and Katie was very responsive on making it right. Quick delivery and no border challenges on way to Canada. I will definitely make trailer my first stop in the future.

by:

It’s exactly what I needed

  • Disc Brake Kit And Actuator For A Grand Design 311BHS
Hello Dave. I recommend the DeeMaxx Disc Brake Kit # DE28YR. This uses a corrosion-resistant Maxx coat finish, which is similar to Dacromet or Zinc only better. So not as expensive as stainless, but still good rust resistance. These hubs have a 6 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern and are 6K rated. This can be used with the brake line kit # 20TA-BLKIT which comes with an 20' long main line. Please do confirm that this line will be appropriately sized for your trailer. We do offer longer lines if needed....

  • How to Convert From Drum to Disc Brakes on Keystone Travel Trailer
Okay, so there's a number of things you'll need to convert your Keystone travel trailer from drum to disc brakes, and I'll detail how to determine that. You'll need a hub and rotor disc brake kit, though we don't have a way of knowing specifically what hub you have. This means you will need to take apart your current hub assembly and look at the bearings themselves; wipe away the grease and you should be able to see the part number stamped directly on them. The actuator is a little different simply because there are multiple styles for installing the actuator on your trailer coupler so you'll want to look through these options to see which A-60 best matches your current A-60 actuator: - Top Mount 3-Bolt # 099-175-00 - Top Mount 3-Bolt # DX33FR ...

I can certainly point you in the right direction. Switching from hydraulic drum brakes over to EOH disc brakes is basically going to require a full conversion kit. It may be possible to re-use some of the old brake lines, but if you are doing a full conversion, we do recommend replacing everything. The highest capacity Timbren Axle Less system is the 7k part # TASR7KS01 which can be used on a tandem axle trailer. For brake drums you'd then want the part # 42866UC3-EZ which fits the spindles of the Timbren. Then for a 14k surge brake actuator for drum brakes you'd want the part # T4836600. Lastly you'd need a tandem brake line kit like the part # 20TA-BLKIT.
