Flexible Rubber Brake Hose

This Kodiak brake hose is made of rubber, making it a practical choice for a variety of applications. Because you can easily bend it, a rubber hose is simpler to work with than a rigid stainless steel brake line. This flexibility makes a rubber hose great for use with foldaway trailer tongues because it is less likely to kink or break when bent. In addition, rubber hoses allow for a wide range of motion so articulating parts can effectively function. These qualities make rubber hoses better suited than steel lines for trailers with torsion axle suspension systems and trailers that have disc brakes.

Stainless steel brake lines have braided exteriors, which can not only wear against exterior surfaces, but also against the interior lining of the hose if dirt gets underneath the steel braid. And if the braid on a stainless steel line tears, it can cut into the hose lining. The exterior surface of this hose is solid rubber, so there are no crevices for debris to enter.

Durable Fittings with Deep Threads

Kodiak Hose Flare

Kodiak brake hoses have corrosion-resistant brass fittings with stainless steel flares. These fittings have a gap built into them that allows room for a line wrench - also called a flare nut wrench - to slide over the line and down to the nut. This type of wrench grips the nut better than a standard open-ended wrench so there is less chance of stripping the threads as you tighten down the nut.

The stainless steel that is used to create the flares on this hose is stronger than brass. As a result, these fittings are more durable than ones made entirely of brass. The stainless flares are primarily designed to keep the fittings from splitting when you tighten them down, but they offer absolute rust protection as well.

Kodiak's fittings have deeper threads than many other fittings on the market to provide a higher thread engagement. Deeper threads offer an advantage when used with fittings that have the same thread depth. These Kodiak fittings will work with most fittings on the market, but when they're used with other Kodiak fittings, the result is a stronger connection with fewer leaks.

My brake line broke on my boat trailer so I needed a 20' replacement. This brake line was offered at a reasonable price by a quality supplier. Upon receiving my new brake line I was very happy with the quality and the fact that the ends are stainless rather than copper/brass as the part that failed on my old brake line was the copper ends as I tried to break them free.
I expect this brake line will last as long as the boat trailer will.

Was very excited when we got our product . We installed them and realized the main one the 20 foot hose had a cut in it before we pressurize the system. We were very disappointed it should’ve been caught before it was ever shipped. On a sidenote, they did ship it back out but now I’m behind on getting the job finished because of this. It should’ve been done last week and now I had to wait an extra week and now I’m too busy to finish the install. Maybe next time you all should check your Product before you ship it out.

by:

Hello Carol,I was not vary happy with my order as you can see the parts were not packaged vary well and we’re beat to hell in shipping I know it’s out of your hands after shipped parts arrived rusty bearing races pitted rotors had nicks in them. I was in a bind to get the boat back in water before the season started so I had to suck it up clean up the damage the best I could and get to fishing.

Continue part of brakes overhaul and line replacement. Very easy install, almost like plug and play, again adding some metal sheathed to shield against rodent possible gnawing. product seems to be well made, much better than my old metal lines.

by:

Ordered a 20" brake line for my trailer and received it quickly and at a very good price. Haven't been able to finish the installation however the ends did fit the master cylinder perfectly, just need some dry weather to get under the trailer and connect the hose to the distribution fitting then bleed the system and away we go.

by:

Replaced steel brake line on boat trailer from master cylinder to axle. Worked perfect.

  • 20' Long Kodiak Hydraulic Brake Hose Availability
I believe you're looking for the Kodiak Hydraulic Brake Hose - 3/16" Male Fittings w/ Stainless Flares - 1/8" ID - 20' # bh-3mfs-20. At this length I assume that you're wanting to run this hose the length of the trailer so I do want to note that if you have an electric over hydraulic actuator then the hose will typically wear faster than a stainless steel brake line. The lifespan is typically 5+ years, which exceeds the 3-year manufacturer warranty and with the hose being as low cost as...

  • Rubber Versus Steel Brake Lines for Electric Over Hydro Conversion on Single Brake Axle Trailer
As an installer, I much prefer rubber lines as they are easier to use. The steel lines are more durable but I can't say I've ever had a trailer we worked on come back with a broken rubber hose either. The steel lines are very hard to work with and if you want it to look decent you'll have to cut the lines to your exact length and flare on the fittings again. If you're experienced with brake lines and have the time to do it right and make it look nice then the steel lines work well but even...

  • Is There a 20 Foot Flexible Hydraulic Brake Line Hose
There is indeed a 20 foot flexible hydraulic brake line hose, from Kodiak: - Kodiak Hydraulic Brake Hose - 3/16" Male Fittings w/ Stainless Flares - 1/8" ID # bh-3mfs-20

  • Option for Getting 21 Foot Long Flexible Brake Line Section
If you need a section of flexible brake line that is longer than the # bh-3mfs-20 you would want the part # bh-3mfs-24 which is 24 feet long instead. I wish we had a 21 foot long section but you would either need to use the 24 foot section or add a 1 foot section to the 20 foot section with part # bh-3mfs-1.

  • Outer Diameter Dimension of Kodiak Brake Line Rubber Hose
I was able to go out to the warehouse and measure the outer diameter of the hose on the # BH-3MFS-20 for you and found that it was .411 inches with a digital caliper like # PTW80157 which is just under 27/64ths of an inch.
