Video Transcript for What to Know About the Lippert Components Tuson High Speed 5th Wheel RV Landing Gear Motor

Today, we're going to take a quick look at the Lippert components Tucson high speed, fifth wheel RV landing gear motor. Now, this is going to upgrade your existing system with the electric motor, so that you can get your landing gear deployed quickly and easily and get on to enjoying your camping trip. Now, Lippert components power landing gear is going to be pretty much standard on most fifth wheels, that are produced today. So, this is going to allow you to extend that landing gear and retract it as well. It comes pre-assembled, so it's really not too hard to install, you'll just have your bolts that go on top of your landing gear. Now, this is just the motor by itself. It doesn't come with any other equipment or hardware for it.

So, if you need any other components, you will have to pick those up separately. We'll have our two leads there, for power and ground, so you will also have to connect those into your wiring on your RV.The motor does have a 7140 rpm rating and a 5000 pound capacity. This is for use on the LCI power landing gear assemblies and this product is also made in the USA. As far as the dimensions with this, overall going from the top of that cylinder down to the end of the motor there, it's going to be about 8 and 1/2 inches. Going to the end of our bolts, it's going to be more like 9 and 1/4.

As far as our width, it will be at about 4 inches and depth overall is going to be about 3 and 1/2. And, that's going to do it for our look at the Lippert components Tucson high speed, fifth wheel RV landing gear motor.

This works fine but not much faster than the original. If I was to do it again I would purchase the heavy duty motor rather than the fast one because I believe the strain of weight slows it down and there would be less strain on the heavy duty motor

It was no faster than the original and not worth the money to me I ended up replacing the entire landing system with a dual motor individual controlled landing gear set up

by:

I have a 2011 Heatland Graystone (29mk model). It has aways strained to lift the front off my truck and more times than not, it would blow the 30amp fuse (which is in a difficult place to replace). I got smarter and replaced the fuse with an auto reset type fuse. But putting that much strain on the motor causes it to ware out.
After reading a couple articles mostly on etrailer I decided to go to a dual motor set up. I measured the length of the leg and called in my plan to your support team. I matched my existing motor so the speed of both motors is the same. The mechanical process was pretty easy, pull the old following leg and put in the new lead leg and connect the gear box and motor. Electrical is easy too, and I cheated for one switch by cutting the wires off my old switch and spliced the new switch in. (NOTE, mark the black leads before cutting them off, so you know which one is for ground and which one is for motor).
Because my motor arrived with a one lead slightly damaged, and because the motor didn't come with mounting screws, and no instructions on anything, I dropped the rating to 4 starts vs. 5 stars. Even the link you sent with additional instructions didn't have any. Also the switch wiring to the motor had to be reversed in order to have the extend button make the leg extend, and retract do the same. (ie red lead to black lead on the motor, etc)

by:

Order process is user friendly! Received my order a day ahead of time. Was kept informed of the process through out to delivery!

by:

I think you should use the address as entered. Postal Service WILL NOT deliver to my street address so I put "BOX 538" behind my street address so the Post Office knows which box to deliver to. I expected you to use UPS or I would just used my PO Box!

by:

It works but really isn't that much faster than the "slower" OEM was.

by:

Exact match to OEM! Great support from Brittany all the way thru the project...

by:

My fifth wheel had an old Atwood leg assembly, so I wasn't able to find a replacement for the original part, Atwood #71113. I did find some suggestions on here that this motor would work as a plug-and-play replacement. Happy to report that is exactly what this was plug and play. Just had to twist the gear slightly so it lined up with the new motor, fit the new part on, screwed it in and hooked up the wires. Took me about five minutes all told.

One weird note, it did reverse the directions from the original Atwood switch. So pressing "extend" now retracts, and vice versa. The switch was put in pretty tight so I just used tape to relabel the buttons.

Still going strong.

Great product, on time delivery. Works great, would recommend. Amy is great person to work with.

by:

I received the Lippert high speed motor in 3 days. It was an exact fit upgrade from the original motor on my Cedar Creek fifth wheel landing gear. The high speed motor is quieter and considerably faster than the slow grinding original. Thank you etrailer.

One year later and my Lippert high speed motor has been a great improvement for my landing gear.

by:

This motor was a perfect upgrade for my LC142178 motor. Easy to install and landing gear moves noticeably faster. It does put more strain on the batteries than the slower motor, so make sure you are fully charged.
The only issues I had we're that one of the mounting bolts was bent and (as mentioned in other reviews) the wiring is backwards from the factory installed motor. You either need to reverse the wiring hookup or use the switch in the opposite direction of what you want.

by:

Works well so far! Spent a bit more for this motor due "back order" status on a different model #. Hopefully this one lasts! It's a replacement one I purchased and installed from a local trailer parts house a couple of years ago.

by:

Haven't installed the motor yet, but the service and delivery were excellent.

by:

It is faster than the standard motor. Installed fairly easy on our Jayco.
Seems quieter than the removed motor.

by:

Although this is presented as a direct replacement for an Atwood/Lippert MPD 71119 motor. It’s Isn’t.
You’ll need to trim the mounts to 3/8 inch. Works fine though.
But, since you can’t find the MPD 71119 anymore, I think this is your only recourse.

by:

etrailer has the best customer service. This motor was an exact replacement of the one on my camper. Delivery was quick.

by:

Motor is super quiet and still going strong 1 year later.

by:

it works great. may want to chance other one. later.

We are so grateful. Fast service and it’s works great!!!

  • Replacement Motor for Atwood Landing Gear 75271
We've checked in the past and have been told the only current landing gear motor that can be used with your Atwood setup is the part # LG-142178 which even having a lower capacity will still do a great job. The jack motor doesn't support the trailer weight directly so you do no have to worry about not having enough capacity.

Given the model numbers you provided the Replacement Aluminum Gearbox for Stromberg Carlson Landing Gear # LG-179015 would be the correct replacement landing gear box. A gear box such as the Aluminum Gearbox for Stromberg Carlson Landing Gear part # LG-179015 will not have an RPM rating nor will the output of the motor be tested here. The gear box will instead have a reduction ratio which for this unit is 3:1, which is the same that you mentioned. The Lippert Components Tuson High Speed...

  • Stronger/Faster 5th-Wheel Trailer Motor Recommendation to Replace Lippert Venture Landing Gear
If you are looking for a higher-speed 5th wheel trailer motor, I recommend the Lippert Components Tuson High Speed 5th Wheel RV Landing Gear Motor # LC141893 for your 2011 XLR lite 300L10. The Tuson has a 7,140 RPM rating compared to the Lippert Venture 5th Wheel RV Landing Gear Motor # LC142178. However, as far as load capacity, the Tuson has the same 5,000 pound capacity as the Venture (with 2 legs/single motor).

However, Heartland was not able to confirm this for sure so you will want to look for a sticker/label on your landing gear motor. You can replace your Venture landing gear motor with either the standard OEM unit # LG-142178 or with a Lippert Tuson high-speed unit # LC141893 or heavy-duty motor # LC196308. Any one of these motors will operate your Lippert landing gear. Your original motor becoming slower and slower in operation is likely due to aging and exposure during off-season storage. I do not expect that either of the upgraded motors will be better able to resist this exposure. The HD unit # LC196308 will operate...

  • Troubleshooting Landing Gear Fuse Blowing On a 2009 Keystone Montana
Most often we find that a short has developed in the wiring which is usually caused from the trailer moving down the road over the years. You will want to start by tracing as much wiring as you can to look for anywhere the wiring may be damaged. You can verify the motor draw by using leads directly to a battery and an amp meter. If you do not have these tools most automotive repair shops can easily run the test which will let you know if the motor is bad.

There are a couple options that could work for your 2008 Keystone. If the landing gear you have is a Lippert and is slow or not working great we do offer replacement motors and gear boxes. The replacement motor I recommend is part # LC141893. This is a high-speed replacement motor that fits Lippert landing gears. The gearbox is part # LC276602. Hi Les; I would go ahead and test the wire for power just to be sure. It could be that there is an issue with the wiring despite putting your jump start battery pack on the battery. Outside of that, the motor is likely the problem. You can replace it with the # LC141893 which I see you already ordered.

For your replacement landing gear on a 2010 Sunnybrook Bristol Bay 3510RE, I recommend the Replacement Landing Gear # LG-183708. The size of 5th wheel trailer landing gear is pretty much all the same but the capacities vary a little and some install differently than others. This particular type requires brackets welded directly to the trailer frame like in the picture I included. It is wise to replace your motor at the same time simply because you will already be working in that area....

The correct replacement motor for your landing jack is the Lippert Components Tuson High Speed 5th Wheel RV Landing Gear Motor # LC141893. The correct replacement for your 1-065-041012-01 motor is part # LC141893 from Lippert which means the correct replacement gear box is the part # LC276602. There isn't a heavier duty option available than what you have currently. If the jacks are hard to crank by hand I would say the problem is the gear box like you mentioned but if they are easy to crank by hand it would be the motor.

Correct, the main difference between the MPD71119 and newer landing gear motors like part # LC141893 is the length of the legs.
