Hi, there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a quick look at this Lippert Solid Step Lift Assist Kit. Now, this kit is gonna make it much easier for you to raise and lower your Lippert Solid Steps. As you can see Shane here demonstrating with a very similar model, you can really get it up with just one finger. It's going to have a internal gas strut. We have two options here that are going to come with it, and one will be for your triple solid steps for one for your quad solid steps, so depending on which model you have.
And that will be housed within your RV and it's going to provide that support that you need to raise those steps. It's gonna support the weight of the steps. Then on the the steps itself, you're gonna have this latch installed. This latch is going to engage with the door jam to hold the steps in place. So you just give it a little extra push and it will engage with the door there, as you can see Shane demonstrating.
And then to lower it, you just disengage the latch. It's gonna stop the solid step from dropping completely and so then it's just very minimal effort to get it lowered to the ground. Again, you can just use a single finger to get it lowered from that supportive position down to the ground. So, very easy, gonna take a lot of that strain out of lifting up your steps, getting them put in place. Now, there are some limitations.
This design is for your door frames that are between 26 and 29 and 15/16 of an inch wide. So you wanna make sure that you're getting the right set. There is a larger set that Shane was demonstrating with that's for your wider door frames. So make sure you're getting the right one. And this is going to work with the third generation Solid Step.
The Solid Step 3.0 that has those solid side rails as you can see on the right side of the screen there. This is not going to work with the second generation of the Solid Step that has those open side rails. So again, make sure that this will work for your setup, but as long as you meet the door width dimensions and have the third generation of Solid Steps, this is gonna be a great way to make that much easier for you to get your steps loaded up when you're ready to pack up and then extend it out when you're ready to set up camp. Was not impressed with the assist and how it was mounted it does not assist as much as in the videos .steps were great and handrail.not impressed for how much it cost.

The product was wonderful and functions as expected. The installation would have been very easy had the instructions been included in the package
Our real concern is how e-trailer packages and send out orders. Yes we ordered the wrong item in the beginning. When that order arrive there was only one part of the full kit in box - which looked like it has been run over multiple times. We called an e-trailer sent out a second shipment which only looked slightly better. Your website was not very clear and that is how the wrong item was order in the first place. We returned the wrong item and received the correct item. That package was damaged once again and the instructions were not included. It look as if the kit was assembled vs being pulled off the shelf as a unit. This is not our first issue with missing items from a what should have been a complete unit.
From our perspective - it appears that the people who pull orders cannibalize other complete units listed on your website then those incomplete items are sent to unsuspecting customers. Our suggestion to etrailer - is to review how orders are being pulled and shipped out. We do love your diverse selection. However, we now do take a pause before ordering as the shipping issues is hard to over look.

I have ordered 3 of these and each time I see the box setting on my door step it looks like this with items missing, I asked your people to put this in another box before shipping, they said the would, well they didn't. I hope you post these photos on how piss poor the company does on packing them.

I think this will be a good addition. Pretty easy to install, but the gas strut was locked up and would not work. I did get a new one sent right away and will install shortly.

Bought the lift assist to go with a new set of SolidSteps for our older fifth-wheel. The camper is high enough off the ground that it required the quad-step size, and this makes it easy for my wife to pull the steps out or fold them in without worrying that they'll fall on her.
Installation was straightforward, and it works just like it's supposed to.

This lift mechanism works better then advertised! I have muscular dystrophy which prevents me from lowering or raising steps myself. My wife can easily perform this task with little effort! Great product!

This lift mechanism is still working great after a year of use and my wife loves it. It is built to last and allows us to keep camping. I actually modified the steps to where there is a 4” rise between 6 stepsI added two more steps. With my disability I can only manage a 4” rise between steps to safely walk up them. I also added the available hand rail to the steps! There is nothing on the market that is available for people with this limitation. The normal rise on any steps is about 7-8”. I cannot climb steps with that amount of rise.
