Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today I'm gonna take a look at the removable hinge kit for the MORryde StepAbove RV steps for 26 inch to 28 inch wide RV door frames. Now this part will convert your standard first-generation StepAbove steps to a nice quick-release style that's on the second generation StepAbove steps. It uses these quick-release hinge plates here that'll let you quickly remove the steps from your RV. Basically, this part will replace the complete upper steel frame section on the top of your steps and it is designed to work with 26 inch to 28 inch wide RV doorframes.
Now, I wanted to zoom in and show you the part we're talking about. You can see here's the hinge plate and here's one on this side. Basically, these hinge plates, these are what'll attach to your RV. And then this is the top frame of your steps. So basically you can see it has a hinge on it with these pins.
What you can do is just pull these pins. There's one here and one here. Pull both these removable pins on either side and it'll quickly detach the top of your steps from the doorway, so it allows you to remove the steps from your RV. And what that's perfect for is when you need to remove the steps from your RV. Like if you want to store the RV in a storage lot and the spots in that lot are very tight and there's no room to lower the steps.
What you wanna do is remove the steps before you store it. That way you don't have to worry about that problem. Now, the top frame here is this powder-coated steel frame. It is corrosion-resistant. It is designed to attach to your steps.
It is very easy installation. There is some drilling required. This part as made in the USA. And the last thing on this is the dimensions. The overall width of it from this side to this side is 23 and three-eighths inches. The length, we won't measure the hinge plates. So from here to here it's gonna be 10 and 11 sixteenths inches long. And the height from the bottom here to the very top is right at four and three-eighths inches tall. Fits 26" to 28" doorways.The hinge is a huge upgrade from the original but......MORryde needs to adjust the angle of the attachment to steps themselves. I had to place shims under the door stops to get the correct angle for the door to correctly close/seal. I attempted to adjust the hinge location to make this adjustment but affected lower fitment. Customer service was excellent as they sent the wrong assembly the first time.
Just what I needed for my 2018 XLR boost 20CB. The gen 1 steps were in the way of my rzr so I installed this base so I could close the door with the steps removed to fit the rzr. The only thing to be cautious of is this piece does not come with instructions. I found the instructions on morryde website and it says to install the mount point 15/16” from the floor trim piece. That did not work for my particular XLR. Doing it that way made it so the doors couldn’t close. I had to reposition it to 2” away from the floor trim piece. Other than that exactly what I wanted.
Product was exactly what was online and it was easy to install.
I wish I could have ordered the step with the Removable Mounting Plate originally!! It was rather hard to install the mount bolts!!
Nicely built and heavy assembly. Eliminates one of the major disadvantages of swing out steps.
It was easy to replace old hinge with new. Just drill out old rivets and use supplied hardware to put on new.
Easy install!

The removable step is great. I store the trailer in a tight space and can not fully open the door. Removing the step before storing grants me access to inside. Was easy to install.
