Video Transcript for Feature Breakdown: Malone Bow and Stern Tie-Down Kit

Speaker 1: Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Malone Bow and Stern Tie Down Kit part number MPG306. The Malone Bow and Stern Tie Downs are great for kayak carriers that don't come with the required straps to secure it down to your vehicle. They also are excellent if the previous set you had have gone missing, you've lost them. It can secure to either a tow loop or hook underneath your vehicle or an after market attachment such as the hood loops from Malone. It can also attach to your hitch in the rear. The kit comes with two stainless hooks to attach it to your vehicle's connection points and two 11 foot long polypropylene ropes to attach it to. They have a carrying capacity or weight capacity of 250 pounds.

Now that we've gone over the features, let's go ahead and show you how these install. So our first step, is to take one of our ends and attach our hook to that end. To do that You feed it through the eyelet, tie a over under and out and then just simply do that again.Pulling it nice and tight. And give it a good tug to make sure it's sturdy. And now we go underneath our vehicle to find the tow hook or loop to attach our hook to.

And then bring it up and tie it off to our kayak. In the rear, find a spot to place the hook, like your hitch. And there you have it for the Malone Bow and Stern Tie Down Kit, part number MPG306.

  • Availability of Foam Block Kayak Carrier Compatible with Square Profile Crossbars
Although there are still a few square profile crossbars available, many are getting away from them slowly because the aero-style are much quieter. A block system like the Malone # MPG162 is compatible with both square and aero-profile bars. Once the kayaks are strapped down to the roof rack and at the bow and stern, it doesn't really matter what profile the blocks are compatible with, because the force of the straps holding the kayaks in place will prevent the blocks from moving. I found...

  • Foam Block or Pad For Carrying Kayak on TracRac Ladder Rack
We do have an option for a foam block as well as pads that will fit a TracRac ladder rack, though the block you mentioned won't fit around the wider TracRac bars. Instead, you can use the following, which are designed for truck ladder racks: - Malone Foam Kayak Block for Truck Racks # MPG159 The only other thing you will need are tie-downs such as the Malone Bow and Stern Tie-Down Kit # MPG306. I have added links below to video reviews for you to check out as well if you'd like to take...

  • Kayak Carrier Recommendation to Fit Larger Crossbars of TracRac SR Sliding Truck Bed Ladder Rack
The TracRac crossbars are much thicker than standard roof rack crossbars so it gets difficult to fit a kayak carrier to them but we do have the Malone Foam Blocks part # MPG159 which are designed for the larger bar size. You'd need two of these blocks and then a set of bow and stern straps like part # MPG306 and you'd be set.

  • Inexpensive Kayak/Canoe Carrier for SUV Without Roof Rack
Yes, the Malone Standard Foam Blocks part # MAL75VR can be used on the roof of your SUV. However, you would want to position the blocks so that the majority of the weight rests on the B and C pillars of the vehicle. In order to secure the bow and stern of the boat you will also need the Malone Bow and Stern Tie-Down Kit part # MPG306. Please note the foam blocks are only really for short distances. I would not use them for extended distances on the highway as they are just not designed...

  • Kayak Carrier That Works With TracRac Ladder Rack
There is a solution which is going to help save your kayaks from any further damage. To mount them on your TracRac TA27000-01 I recommend using the Malone Foam Kayak Block # MPG159. These are going to fit directly over the four-inch bars on your Trac-Rac, and you would need two of them per kayak. For tie-downs you would want to use the Malone Bow and Stern Tie-Down Kit # MPG306. I've added links to review videos on both of these products for you.

  • Which Kayak Carrier Can Fit Thicker Load Bars of TracRac Kayak Carrier
The load bars of the TracRac Ladder Rack part # TH43002XT-501 that you referenced are much bigger than standard load bars found on roof racks. You'd need to use the Malone kayak carrier foam pad part # MPG159 as it can fit the bars of a TracRac ladder rack and allow you to mount 1 kayak per set of blocks. I also recommend using the Malone Bow and Stern Tie-Down Kit, # MPG306. This kit will include 2 straps to secure both the bow and stern of one kayak.

  • Best Way To Haul Kayaks With Thule TracRac Ladder Rack
In order for the Yakima SweetRoll Kayak Carrier w/ Tie-Downs - Saddle Style - Rear Loading Item # Y04074 to fit, the crossbars you are securing them to must be no wider than 3-1/2" and no taller than 1-11/16". The Thule TracRac # TH27000XT rails are 4" wide and 1-1/2" tall so they will not fit the SweetRoll. Instead I recommend grabbing (4) of the Malone Foam Kayak Block for Truck Racks - 14" Long Item # MPG159. These will slide right over your bars, giving it a great mix of simplicity...

  • Are Additional Tie-Downs Needed For the Thule Stacker Part TH830
The Thule Stacker part # TH830 can be used to hold up to four kayaks if you have space for this. It comes with tie down needed for one kayak. Therefore, if you have two kayaks then you would also need the Thule Quick Draw Tie-Down Ropes part # TH855XT and the Thule Load Strap Cinch Straps part # TH523. If you want to save some money you can use a different brand for the tie-downs, the Malone Bow and Stern Tie-Down Kit part # MPG306 and the Malone Cam Buckle Load Straps with Buckle Protectors...

  • Will Malone Foam Block for Kayaks # MPG158 Fit on Factory Crossbars of Honda CR-V
Yes, the Malone Foam Block for Kayaks # MPG158 will fit on the factory crossbars of your Honda CR-V. The opening for the bars is a bit larger than you'd need but it would still fit and work well. For a strap set for the bow and stern you'd then want the part # MPG306 and you'd be set.

We do have a variety of options to help protect your kayak. These range from the foam blocks # MPG152 that you referenced to the linked page of crossbar pads like the Yakima part # Y07412 which are 20" long. If you can let me know what load extender you are using I can make more of a specific recommendation.

  • How to Use Rhino-Rack T-Load System to Transport Kayak on 2016 Chevy Silverado 1500
The Rhino-Rack T-Load Hitch Mounted Load Assist and Support Bar # RTL002 that you referenced is designed to be used with an existing roof rack crossbar system or bare roof carrier, which aren't included with the kit. If you want to go with a more permanent setup to use with the T-Load the best route is with a crossbar system. If your Silverado has the Crew Cab I recommend the Rhino-Rack Vortex Crossbar System that consists of # RRVA150S-2 for the two 59" Vortex Crossbars in Silver or...

  • What Options do You Have for More Support for a Canoe Mounted on an Adarac Rack on a 2013 Silverado?
I have a solution for you. Unfortunately, there is not an extension of the Adarac ladder rack # A70510 available. As far as having additional support of the bow of the canoe on your 2013 Silverado's cab, I recommend the Malone Foam Block for Canoes - 6" Long - Qty 1 # MPG160. The Foam Block will serve as a point to mount the bow down to the roof of your cab to make sure the kayak doesn't bump it during transport. In addition to the foam pad, you will need the Malone Hood Loops for Bow and...

I do have an option for you, but we do not have a conversion kit for your Malone EcoLight Sport Trailer with V-Style Carriers # MAL43FR. But, you can use the Malone Stax Pro2 Kayak Roof Rack w/ Tie-Downs # MPG115MD. This will provide you with a post style carrier that will clamp onto the crossbars of your EcoLight trailer. The foam pads will fit around your bars to provide some cushion and protection for the kayaks. You can add additional foam blocks # MPG168 (x2) and tie-downs # MPG306...

  • TracRac Ladder Rack Kayak Carrier Recommendation
TracRac ladder racks have very thick crossbars compared to standard roof rack crossbars. The only style of kayak carrier we offer that fits that bar shape is the Malone Foam Kayak Carrier # MPG159 which would would be a great option for you. For a tie down kit then we have the part # MPG306.

The Malone HR20 Inflatable Roof Rack part MPG453 (discontinued) and the Malone HandiRack Inflatable Roof Rack part # MPG452 are both very similar alternatives to a traditional roof rack. A few key points to make is that the HandiRack has a weight capacity of up to 180 lbs whereas the HR20 can only support up to 44 lbs. The HandiRack also comes with both bow and stern tie-downs and the HR20 does not. With that being said either one would work for you but the the HandiRack will offer a greater...

  • Kayak Carrier Recommendation for Reese Towpower TransRACK Workmate Truck Bed Ladder Rack
Since the Reese Towpower TransRACK Workmate Truck Bed Ladder Rack # RP7063500 has a substantially higher capacity at 800 lbs than a standard roof rack standard roof rack kayak carrier won't be able to fit over the thicker crossbars. The foam block kayak carrier part # MPG159 can fit the thicker ladder rack crossbars though. These are sold individually. For a tie down kit we then have the part # MPG306.

  • Recommended Kayak Carrying Options for 2000 Toyota Camry
In order to carry 2 kayaks on the roof of your 2000 Toyota Camry, if the combined width of the kayaks is less than 45-1/2 inches, you could simply mount the kayaks side by side on the # SR1005 rack by using 2 of the pad/strap kits like part # RRRWP03. You'd want to load up the kayaks so that the flatter side of the kayaks rests on the crossbars. I'd also recommend using 2 of the # MPG306 bow/stern tie down kits. If the combined width of the kayaks is greater than the 45-1/2 inch crossbar...

  • Roof Rack and Kayak Carrier Recommendation for 2016 Mazda CX-5
A solution like the # Y07418 looks like a good idea on paper, but in practice it has some drawbacks. The straps that secure the pads to the roof must run through the vehicle along the ceiling. This can interfere with the driver and passenger's headroom. The fact that the straps are closed in the doors will allow the straps to wick moisture into the passenger cabin of the vehicle, so if it rains, you're going to get wet. If you weren't planning on transporting the kayak very far or very...

  • What Kayak Carrier Do You Recommend for the Erickson Truck Bed Ladder Rack # EM07705?
We do carry compatible ladder rack/tonneau cover combinations for your 2006 Toyota Tundra (6-ft. double cab). For a tonneau cover that will leave your stake pockets open for a ladder rack, I recommend the BAKFlip G2 Hard Tonneau Cover # BAK26405. The G2 features a quad-fold design that allows for partial or full truck bed access in seconds without having to remove the cover. Another great feature about the G2 is that if the tailgate is closed, the cover cannot be opened. This creates theft...

  • Recommended Hobie Outback Kayak Carrier for a 2005 Ford F-350
Honestly because your kayaks are so heavy, you're not going to be able to use a standard roof kayak carrier because you'd be overloading your bars. If by "rack on the truck" you're talking about a ladder rack like # TH27000XTB then you can just use 2 of the Malone Foam Kayak Block for Truck Racks - 14" Long # MPG159 with the tie downs # MPG306 - or 2 of the Rhino-Rack Nautic 580 Side Loading Kayak Roof Rack w/ Tie-Downs # RR580. • Recommendation for a Kayak Carrier That Will Fit a TracRac Ladder Rack
I have a solution for you, but J-hook style Kayak carriers like the Rhino-Rack J-Style Kayak Carrier # S512 cannot fit the 4 inch wide crossbars that are on the TracRac Ladder Racks. The Rhino-Rack carrier can fit up to 3-1/2 inch wide crossbars. A foam block like the Malone Foam Block for Kayaks, # MPG159, can fit the bars of a TracRac ladder rack and allow you to mount 1 kayak per set of blocks. The Malone blocks are sold a piece, so you will need two for one kayak. I also recommend...

  • How to Protect Load Bars of TracRac Ladder Rack When Sliding Boat onto Them
We have a foam block style of boat carrier that has a large enough hole for the thicker TracRac bars with the part # MPG159. This would be our best solution to protect the finish of your bars as well as securely carry your boat. See attached picture to see the pads used on a TracRac ladder rack. For straps then you'd want the part # MPG306 and part # MPG322 if you wanted to run the straps to under the hood of your truck as an attachment point.

  • How To Secure an Inflatable Kayak to a Bare Roof
If you wanted to use the Malone Deluxe Kayak Carrier with Tie-Downs part # MPG152 then you would need to secure the foam pads to the roof in addition to running a strap though the pad to secure the kayak because the bow and stern tie-downs would most likely not provide enough force to keep the kayak secure. The other option you have would be to use the Malone HandiRack Universal Fit Roof Rack - Inflatable part # MPG452. All you would need for this option is find a way to secure the kayak...
