Today we're gonna take a look at the right angle three wire pigtail for Peterson Trailer Lights. This is going to be a three pronged PL-3 plug with a 10 and a half inch lead. Now, this is going to be a quick and easy way to get your lighting connected into your trailer system. This is just going to plug directly into the back of your Peterson light. It is designed for lights that are going to have your stop, tail, and turn lights, parking, and turn lights, and warning lights. So, any of your three wire systems, this is going to have our three wires.
Our white wire is going to be for ground. It already has that pre-installed ring terminal. It's going to be a number 10 ring terminal for your ground. Our red wire is going to be for our stop and turn signal, and the black wire is going to be for our tail light signal, also known as our running lights. So, we have all of those functions for our light. Just going to grab a Peterson light to use in example.
This is going to be an oval tail light with all those functions, so if we hook up our ground, in this case it's going to be my red clip, and then I'm going to hook my power to the black wire, and then I'm just gonna tap that red wire for the signal for the stop and the turn so you can get an idea of how that's going to work. So, turn on our power so you see our running light signal comes on. It's gonna be a bit dimmer, and then whenever we have our brake signal or our turn signal, it's going to be that brighter light. So, it's gonna give us all our necessary functions to be DOT compliant, and again, I'm just using this oval light as an example but it's gonna work for all of your Peterson stop, tail, and turn lights. Now, to remove this it does have some little tabs on either side. You do have to use a little bit of force, though, to pop that guy off there, which isn't a bad thing.
One thing I also want to point out is that with this design, it does come out and away so it's not sticking straight out from the back. That's a nice thing especially if you have a limited clearance in the back of your lights. So, the wiring is gonna go at a right angle. Makes it a little easier for that flush mount.Again, it's going to be a male pin, three pronged, PL-3 molded plastic plug to connect into the back of your trailer light. We have a lot of options here at etrailer.com as far as those lights, so definitely check out our selection if you need to pick up any lights with your wiring.
We're going to have 10 and a half inches of lead coming off of that plug. So, you can see there. Let me get my fingers out of the way. It's gonna be 10 and a half inches. That's gonna do it for our look at the right angle three wired pigtail for Peterson Trailer Lights with the three pronged PL-3 plug, and a 10 and a half inch lead.
