I have never dealt with a company that is so helpful, I am extremely thankful for all your advice, both before purchase and after when I had installation questions. I highly recommend your products and services!

by:

Right product, Great service. I always shop with them when I need anything for my rv or trailers.

by:

I followed the detailed instructions from etrailer’s video to add a 7pin trailer harness and ebrake controller for my 2010 Dodge Dakota Big Horn. I ordered the 30 amp and the 40 amp circuit breakers for the 12 volts and ebrake controller power supply. The order came in with a 30 amp and a 20 amp breakers instead. I contacted etrailer about the mistake and etrailer sent the correct 40 amp right away without hesitation. Etrailer has been a great source of information and they have the best customer service out there. Thank you!!

by:

I think they are designed to be “slow trip” I put about 65 Amps through it for ~40 seconds before it tripped. Nice form factor

by:

Excellent quality and strength. Why skimp on something as important as your hitch? I have purchased three of these Draw Tites - I guess a repeat customer will scream about the true quality a company can garner from repeat customers. When you pull show cars worth six figures, you can't afford a poorly made hitch.
Step up, step out, and don't fret what you are pulling.

by:

Worked out perfectly.

by:

Circuit breaker does what it should, I hope. Mounting bracket come off fairly easily, which was a bit disappointing. Happy about the different colored terminals. So far so good, its much nicer having power from my tow vehicle to my trailer.

Items Arrived a day later than I was led to believe by email, but still arrived quickly. Items were as expected and I had not problems installing components on my vehicle. One big concern for me was the way items were packed, the 7 way RV connector was in box loose with steel washers(which were in a plastic bag with the circuit breaker.....loose)as well as the T-connector(which WAS in its own package). I'm grateful the 7 way was not damaged being loose with other items as items were only seperated by a crumpled peice of paper. Wires can be tricky when they get rubbed/ripped/stripped. As I stated I'm grateful this was not the case but hopefully any future items will be better packed. I will recomend this company for prices, item variety and promptness of item delivery.

I ordered everything to add trailer brake hookups to a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500. I got:

and Clear instructions included with Tekonsha controller.

After 1 year of service it works great!

by:

This circuit breaker for electric trailer brakes is working fine after a year's use. No complaints. Good reputable company to deal with.

by:

All three (3) In-Line Circuit Breakers I purchased (9510, 38630 & 9506P) met my expectations based on web page information reviewed prior to placing an order. The installation instructions received were excellent and easy to follow. Each performed well throughout the summer and fall 2017 on several extended vacations in western North America.

by:

Great job as always

by:

Items were exactly as described and have me the exact parts I needed for Dodge. I used etrailer.com once before for trailer wiring parts. You can beat their parts availability on each different project.. The online instructions for each vehicle wiring sold me on their site.. Thanks again

by:

adapter works good. Was easy to install. Power light stays on as it should. The left turn, right turn, and running lights stay on faint to. Pulled my trailer 550 miles and no problems

by:

I ordered the Drawtite Activator II with associated wiring. The unit was bench-tested where I became familiar with its operation. The digitally displayed output is a big plus, as I expected it to be. Stephanie was very helpful in assisting with my order and order status emails home. I spent a good hour under the truck finding the best wiring route and wire-tying everything, and close to 4 hours total to complete.

by:

Have only been able to use our trailer on a couple of outings but every thing worked perfect.

No problems.

by:

After a year of use I would still recomend this kit and ordering it from etrailer. I was able to install it myself using their instructions and videos. You can buy with confidence here.

by:

I ordered this controller and additional parts from Laser. Before committing to buying, I asked him many questions. He answered them all in about a clear and concise way as possible while presenting a picture of how to install the device. It arrived today and I haven't started, but he also emphasized that I could call if I ran into any difficulties. I'll follow up when the job is complete. My experience in this context could not have been better.

by:

Needed for my installation. etrailer staff was very helpful in helping me order all the pieces that I needed.

by:

Works great - once I got the wiring installed this thing had no issues with my trailer.

by:

Everything was as advertised, and thank you Kaylyn R for your wonderful customer service. It took awhile to get everything installed, because of crazy events in the past year, but it all works great!

by:

All around very positive experience.
I
placed an online order and thirty seconds later realized I'd missed one item on my list. Called and s/w Jennifer who fixed it all 1-2-3. Order arrived sooner than expected. I will be back in the future.

by:

Easy installation works as expected

by:

Great service, and research given with the representative to order the correct parts needed. I am a returning customer for this reason and will again in the future.

  • Only One Side of Trailer Brakes Lock Up
The high-pitched whining noise you are describing is completely normal for electric trailer brake assemblies. If only one side of the trailer brakes lock up then most likely you just need to adjust the tension on the shoes like you mentioned. If you want to get more technical then you can test for power on the wire leading into the magnet. If you don't get close to 12 volts with the manual override applied and controller at max settings then you have a wiring problem but if you are getting...

  • Operation 12V Charge For Trailer Battery On Bravo Enclosed Trailer
On your 2014 Ford F-150 the wiring is there as well as the connections, so they call it a tow package. There are rare times that they don't put in all the relays and fuses like in your case, but that is not common. The way that your system is wired for the battery to charge while the vehicle is on is really nice. This makes it so that if you leave your vehicle connected to your trailer, the trailer battery won't draw from the vehicle start battery so you end up with a non-running vehicle...

  • Brake Controller Wiring on a 2006 Nissan Pathfinder
The blue wire coming from the 7 way at the rear would connect to the blue output wire coming from the brake controller. Typically this wire would run from the port under the dash to a location somewhere near the rear of the vehicle. Check the driver's side frame rail or behind the bumper for a blue wire that is not connected to anything. The black wire is for your 12V lead, and would run to a 12V power source via a 40 amp inline circuit breaker like part # 9510. The orange lead is either...

  • Circuit Breaker Keeps Tripping On a 2002 Toyota Tacoma W/ the Universal Install Kit ETBC7
Although you may have already checked your wiring and not noticed any obvious short, the fact that your circuit breaker # 9510 is continuously tripping is a key indicator that you have a short circuit somewhere in your wiring. You're going to need to go through your wiring again looking for anything that could possibly be causing a short. If all else fails, and there is absolutely no wiring that is causing a short then the only thing left you can do is to run new wiring.

  • Is a Fuse Needed on 12 Volt Power Circuit of Trailer Wiring
If you are running a wire from the battery of your vehicle back to the 12 volt power circuit of a 7-way you will need to install a circuit breaker on the circuit like the part # 9510. The advantage a breaker has over a fuse is that it will automatically reset and won't require you to replace anything.

  • Installing 12V Trailer Accessory Power Lead on 1999 Ford F150
The wiring for the trailer hot lead should already be in place. If it is not, I would recommend running a line directly off the positive battery terminal, using an inline 40 amp circuit breaker, such as part # 9510.

  • Leveling Trailer Information to Prevent Trailer Sway
More important than tire size is how level you trailer is sitting. It's hard to see perfectly in the picture you sent in but it looks like the trailer may be sitting a bit nose high which will cause sway much easier than just having a smaller tire size. You really wouldn't gain much stability by going to a slightly bigger tire size, but if you can get your trailer more level that will help greatly. Check out the help article I attached that details how to pick out a ball mount to allow...

  • Wiring an Additional 12 Volt Circut From Trailer Connector to Trailer
If your trailer does not have reverse lights, you can use that circuit to provide an additional 12 Volt circuit for your trailer. • What Does Trailer Battery Circuit Breaker Really Do for Trailer Wiring
Circuit breakers are a great way to shut down a circuit if there happened to be an overdraw that would otherwise get the wiring so hot that it would melt or even worse catch fire. They also would save any accessories attached to the circuit from getting damaged as well. For the short term you could bypass the breaker if you need to get the trailer back on the road ASAP but I would recommend replacing the breaker as early as possible. For a 40 amp breaker we have the # 9510.

  • Installing Brake Controller on 2002 Ford E250 Van without Full Tow Package
Because your van was equipped with the 4-way connector and not the 7-way, all of the necessary wiring has not been run back to the trailer connector. The wire for the brake controller output can be found in the main harness in the engine compartment above the brake master cylinder. The correct wire can be difficult to find, you will probably be better off running your own 12 gauge wire for the brake output voltage. Connect this wire to the blue wire on the rear of the controller and run...

Many people find that 12 Volt circuit helpful for keeping a trailer battery charged, for a break away system, or for powering accessories on the trailer but it is not absolutely necessary. I would go ahead and wire it up, better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. You would want to use a minimum of 12 gauge wire and run it to the positive battery terminal via a 40 amp inline circuit breaker, part number 9510. I'll include a link for the breaker which you can find...

  • Can Trailer Wiring Power Wires be Attached to Rear Fuse Panel on 2010 Mercedes GLK350
It is not a good idea to wire in anything related to trailer towing to the rear fuse panel or any other 12 volt power source other than the vehicle battery. The reason for this is that the vehicle side of things is not rated for the additional load and it could damage that system. Ideally you want as much isolation between the vehicle wiring and the trailer wiring to avoid potential problems which is why it is recommended to go straight to the vehicle battery. I have included a link to...

  • Troubleshooting Pollak 40-amp Circuit Breaker Constantly Clicking
The Pollak 40-amp circuit breaker # 9510 you have installed is not supposed to be constantly clicking. That noise is actually the breaker tripping and then auto resetting. This breaker tripping constantly does mean that there is a short or another issue on that circuit, so thoroughly inspect the component powered...

  • How Does Trailer Battery Wire to Replacement 7-Way on Trailer
Basically the 12 volt circuit of the 7-way would run to the positive post of the battery you have on your trailer and then for the ground of the battery you could run it to the frame of the trailer or you could run it back to the ground wire of the 7-way. If you wanted to install the fuse holder it would get installed inline on the power wire of the battery between the 7-way and the positive post.
