by:

It was easy to install and took care of the issue I had of one of the trailer light segments not working.

by:

New wiring harness and receptable work great. Installed in the rear of my truck bed for connecting my 5th wheel trailer...so much easier than running the RV cable over the tailgate to the 7-pin connector by receiver hitch. Thanks...

by:

I received everything in short order.
The
instructions from the website gave great detail.

The only thing I would add would be to measure the distance between the

tabs on the original hitch and make the same on the new one by

bending/taping them.

by:

Used this product in conjunction with pollak #pk11893 to upgrade my 95' ford E-350 wireing under the rear bumper to more readily available standard parts. I have had a few orders over the years from etrailer, always a pleasure to deal with.

by:

Looks good!

by:

The delivery time was excellent. The new plug installation was easy and will hopefully fix the intermittent loss of connection problem. The only other comment is, I found it easier to do this work after I lowered the spare tire.It then provides a lot more working room and light.

by:

Great customer service

by:

The Pigtail assembly that I received was wired incorrectly. Normal seven pin color coding was not followed. The Yellow wire (normally left turn/stop light), was wired into the backup light center pin, the red wire (normally +12 volt supply), was wired into the left turn/stop pin, and the black wire (normally backup lights), was wired to the +12 volt supply pin. Good quality wire and correct gauge, probably just a supplier / quality control issue.

Theres more than one accepted wiring convention for a 7-way trailer connector, which is why we list the wire color code on the product description page on our website.

by:

Just received the wire pigtail today. Had ordered the 7 pin plug thinking I wouldn't need the pigtail. Save yourself some time and get them both. It's cheaper in the long run. Good product.

I completely rewired my trailer about a year ago using all of your wiring and lights. Everything works great. Thanks.

by:

This harness plugs right into the factory 7 pin plug that comes with the factory hitch and works perfectly to replace a worn factory plug.My ground wire pin had become loose in the plug and had my trailer lights working intermittently .GM also sells a repair plug but it is over $100.00 and comes with the 7 pin plug and a four pin connector which I didn't need.Just be sure to connect one wire at a time as the color of some wires do not match.I started with the white wire and worked my way around the plug and it works perfect. Thanks for a good product at a great price!

by:

This also fits the Pollack 11-916. The PK 11916 seems to be the twist lock version of the 4 bolt 11893. The 11916 came with the GM hitch that I installed on my Silverado.

Caution; once I pushed the PK11998 onto the PK11916, the internal locking tab engaged without using the external lock / unlock button. The only way to get the harness off was to force the two apart thus breaking the internal locking tab. That doesn't seem to be a problem because everything is a tight fit anyway. The locking tab seems to be overkill, kind of like "wearing suspenders with a belt".

by:

The color code is all wrong with this harness. After I wired all the colors together, I tested my trailer lights and the left side didn't work. After researching on the etrailer site I come to find out this thing is not inline with the standard color code that every trailer under the sun uses. There should be a highlighted note saying that it's different from the normal color code or something. Had to rewire and heat shrink.

by:

I needed a 2nd, 7 blade trailer connector for my '15 Ford S.D. 350 Dually.
I wanted to keep the factory look, and this product matches perfectly. Wire harness & bracket were also purchased. ( due to a totally custom built Toy Hauler, more than 7 standard wires were needed for trailer ) .

by:

I bought this because my 2011 Silverado factory 7 way connection was acting poorly. I had to cut off the wire harness end and splice this on, I used heat shrink solder connectors then replaced the seven way. Now the voltage to the trailers brakes is at max with no more intermittent issues, this looks well made

by:

E-trailer has always been fast, responsive, and helpful on many of my orders. Used this to replace a broken truck side connector on my 2012 F250. It's exactly the same as the factory plug. The wire harness on the 2012 is over 300 from Ford on the late model 2011 and up F250. Instead you can cut and splice this connector. The wires are a different color but you can see the numbers on the factory and new connector and match them up. I did decide to solder and shrink wrap my wires but the kit comes with butt connectors. Good quality part no different then OEM and fits well on the existing 7pin putco connector.

by:

The pig tail was actually wired wrong to the plug. Found this out out after testing unit. Should have been a very easy install

The pigtail isnt wired wrong, it just uses a different color code. The color code it uses is: Red - Left Turn and Stop - 14 gauge White - Ground - 10 gauge Blue - Electric Brakes - 12 gauge Green - Right Turn and Stop - 14 gauge Black - Battery - 12 gauge Brown - Running Lamps - 14 gauge Yellow - Backup Lamps - 14 gauge

BOUGHT A HITCH,ELEC BRAKE SYSTEM,WIRING,AND RUNNING BOARDS EVERYTHING SHIPPED FAST WORKS AND LOOKS GREAT CUST SERVICE WAS A BIG HELP ON THE WIRING SYSTEM GOT IT DONE

by:

Just what i needed to fix someones mistake! This allowed me to replace the factory end on my GMC truck i just bought. The only issue was the yellow wire on the pigtail is for the backup lights and not the left turn signal. I just checked everything with a test light as i went and all was good.

by:

Bought 3 items--Trailer connector socket, mounting bracket and 4' pigtail. They were just what I needed. Did not know ID #'s and names till I got help. Then looked at video of how to wire the wires that weren't color matched . Not only was it simple and quick but less expensive than competitors. Shipped same day --- took 3days counting shipping day to arrive. Super customer service, price and shipping time.
Thank you Etrailer. Will buy again when I need your products and am already telling my friends.

by:

soldered the wires to the factory wiring harness. Looks like it came from the factory. 2016 Chevy Colorado.

by:

PerfectI resently purchased a new 4x4 and the truck game without a tow hitch ,so I bought one from the dealer and it came without the trailer plug so when I asked them how long do I have to wait for one they told me it was on a nationwide backlog so I went online looking at a few web sites but didn't see what I liked .I went crazy searching for this product until I log on to yours. I found everthing I needed and your prices where better than other venders ,And your shipping was on the money and didn't have to wait long . I would recomment your website to all my friends.

by:

This was right part for my 2016 Colorado. Very good video on installation. I paired it with part #HM40975. Great hook-up. I installed Draw-Tite receiver (#75948). Everything work as advertised, but video for install of hitch wasn't accurate. But good enough to get the job done. After I was done with total install, I was very happy. Ready to pull my trailer anywhere.

by:

Product was easy to install along with video step by step wiring color illustrations.
Thank you.

works great. thanks for asking.

by:

I looked on the web for several days and finally found this pigtail I needed. I was on e trailer before and couldn't find it but I ran into the part number somewhere and googled it and e trailer was virtually the only place to get it at a reasonable price. Thanks a lot I will be doing business again should the need arise.

by:

etrailer Customer Service exceeds expectations... they have assisted in advising product uniformity and conformity..
The acquisition of the PK11998 will enable the unit to be returned to a state comparable to its original manufacturers designation.
Looking forward to an expeditious installation

  • Parts Needed To Install A Brake Controller On A 2023 Freightliner Cascadia
You do have the option to utilize the air brakes on your 2023 Freightliner Cascadia to control electric trailer brakes using the Hayes Air Actuated Trailer Brake Controller, part # HA100400C. However, we mostly recommend just using an electric brake controller since they tie into the stop light switch of the tow vehicle, making it irrelevant what kind of brakes it has. For an electric brake controller I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195. A very solid, user friendly brake controller....

  • Is Hopkins or Pollak Better for Trailer Connectors?
Personally, I'm a much bigger fan of Pollak than I am of Hopkins. In my experience, I've had fewer issues with 7-way plug fitting loosely with Pollak brand 7-ways and Pollak is generally the "go-to" brand for most OEM truck setups.  The snag is there isn't a 4-way and 7-way Pollak branded trailer connector currently, but I have some good news. The Hopkins 7 and 4-Pole Trailer Connector, # HM40975, is actually made by Pollak, but sold by Hopkins. This is the same plug I have on my Silverado...

A Pollack Trailer Connector like # PK11893, should fit in the 6 and 7-Way Trailer Connector Mounting Box, # 18159, without modifying either part. However, there have been some cases where mounting bracket holes did not line up quite right. In those cases, we usually recommend the Mounting Bracket for Pollak 7-Pole, RV-Style Trailer Connector, # PK12711U. The elongated holes are more universal than regular round holes. As we do not have anything that will plug directly into your plugs, the # PK11893-11933 will need to be hardwired to get everything up an running. Due to this, it would be better to go with # PK11893 and # PK11998. This is specifically a hardwire kit so you wouldn't need to cut off the rectangular plug.
