Chrome Trailer Wheel Lug Nut

Narrator: Today we're going to review part number 12CLN. This is the half-inch by 20 chrome trailer wheel lug nut. Now this is designed to fit bolts that are half-inch by 20 and that size means that it's a half-inch diameter and 20 threads per inch. Now this lug nut does use the 60 degree cone, you can see here at the bottom, and that's designed to fit the 60 degree taper on the wheel. This does have an overall length, let's measure the overall length on this and it's going to be at 1 and 3/8 inches for the overall length. It does use a hex-head size or socket size of 3/4 of an inch.
You can see I happen to have a deep well 3/4 inch socket, and it fits perfectly in there. Now what's nice on these lugs, I just want to show you here, have an example. Pan out a little bit so we can . If you notice these are the trailer wheels and usually on trailer wheels they come with just a standard short, open end lug nut on there. So what's nice with these lug nuts, they are a little bit taller and they are a closed end so when you do put them on, gives a nice finish to it and being longer it gives you more for your socket to grip on to when you're trying to loosen them or tighten them, either way. The other nice thing is on your, you can use these lug nuts on a, when people lots of time will switch from a, they want a fancier wheel, so they'll switch from the standard steel wheel to the nicer looking aluminum type wheel. When you do that, lots of times the lug holes on the aluminum wheels, it's a lot deeper setting there where the lug nut goes and if you try to use your regular lug nuts, the short ones, you can see they fit in there but there's no room for a socket to fit in and they're pretty much flush.
It's hard to get to them. So lots of times when people switch to the fancier wheels, they'll use these closed end, little bit longer lug nuts. You'll see when you put those on, gives you more length for your socket to grip on to and it gives you a nice clean finish with the closed end on them. Also on your lug nuts you'll notice that most of them will be, zoom in again and I'll show you, they are using stamped on by their half-inch by 20 so you can identify what size lug nut this is. Used these on a 10k flatbed trailer; the last open set of lug nuts had a couple rust over and had to replace studs. I wanted something with closed ends and lots of them. Local auto parts stores had similar parts for just a little more, however I couldn't find enough of them at a time to have them come close to a match. I got all 24 and they're working out well.
Yes, I could have gotten lugs cheaper from other big-name websites. However as I read reviews from those products, the quality was severely lacking.

Randy - 05/20/2015Wheels and tires I ordered for my boat trailer came a couple days early so I was able to make it to the lake this weekend after all. That is a good thing. The wheels, tires and lug nuts all fit fine and appear to be of the quality I expected. I have ordered from etrailer several times and never been disappointed.
I got the 6 and tires wheels but I did not receive any lug nuts?

All of the lugs nuts are very consistent in quality and finish, and all went on the lugs smoothly. What more can you ask for? Looks to be a great product at a very reasonable price.
I purchased a new set of lug nuts to finish off the wheels on our 1990 Fleetwood Prowler Regal travel trailer. I had repainted the rims and installed new tires, and polished the beauty rings and center caps, but the original lug nuts looked shabby.
A major name-brand auto parts store in our area wanted more for the same lug nuts I purchased here.
I think they look great, and they installed without any problems.
These chrome lugs were just what I needed to dress up my box trailer wheels. Great price too.
big d - 04/27/2015The quality of these chrome acorn-style lug nuts appear very good, but time will test the chrome finishing. Too often these products become rusty too soon. I reckon a follow up is called for in about 10 years.
I ordered these lug nuts to replace perfectly good stock lug nuts; my trailer is a 2020 model. This style of lug nut covers the wheels stud, protecting it from weathering, and the appearance is nice bonus.
Solid replacement for standard trailer lug nuts. Good to have one or two on hand just in case one goes missing on long hauls.
I ordered new stainless steel lug nuts to replace the ones that came standard on our new travel trailer. The lug nuts that come on it are the ones with the aluminum cap and strip under pressure when torquing the lug nuts. Very speedy shipping and they fit perfectly. Very happy with etrailer.

These lug nuts fit my Lippert 7000 lb axels. These seem to better better than the original lug nuts.

These bolts were the right touch to the 15” rims. You can access them without scratching the rims
These are the best and durable Lug Nuts to use. They are solid and makes it much easier to break them loose when you have to change a tire. Highly recommend so you don't get stuck on side of road.
