Video Transcript for Redline Tires and Wheels 12CLN Review

Narrator: Today we're going to review part number 12CLN. This is the half-inch by 20 chrome trailer wheel lug nut. Now this is designed to fit bolts that are half-inch by 20 and that size means that it's a half-inch diameter and 20 threads per inch. Now this lug nut does use the 60 degree cone, you can see here at the bottom, and that's designed to fit the 60 degree taper on the wheel. This does have an overall length, let's measure the overall length on this and it's going to be at 1 and 3/8 inches for the overall length. It does use a hex-head size or socket size of 3/4 of an inch.

You can see I happen to have a deep well 3/4 inch socket, and it fits perfectly in there. Now what's nice on these lugs, I just want to show you here, have an example. Pan out a little bit so we can . If you notice these are the trailer wheels and usually on trailer wheels they come with just a standard short, open end lug nut on there. So what's nice with these lug nuts, they are a little bit taller and they are a closed end so when you do put them on, gives a nice finish to it and being longer it gives you more for your socket to grip on to when you're trying to loosen them or tighten them, either way. The other nice thing is on your, you can use these lug nuts on a, when people lots of time will switch from a, they want a fancier wheel, so they'll switch from the standard steel wheel to the nicer looking aluminum type wheel. When you do that, lots of times the lug holes on the aluminum wheels, it's a lot deeper setting there where the lug nut goes and if you try to use your regular lug nuts, the short ones, you can see they fit in there but there's no room for a socket to fit in and they're pretty much flush.

It's hard to get to them. So lots of times when people switch to the fancier wheels, they'll use these closed end, little bit longer lug nuts. You'll see when you put those on, gives you more length for your socket to grip on to and it gives you a nice clean finish with the closed end on them. Also on your lug nuts you'll notice that most of them will be, zoom in again and I'll show you, they are using stamped on by their half-inch by 20 so you can identify what size lug nut this is. But that should do it for the review on part number 12CLN. This is the half-inch by 20 chrome trailer wheel lug nut. .

I always use e trailer for my boat trailer and travel trailer. I recently ordered new wheels, lug nuts and stainless steel brakes. They were timely delivered and work perfectly. See attached.

Comments
The stainless steel brakes are still working. No issues.

Im happy with the service i recieved from e trailer....my wheels look great ...had a small issue with lug nuts but they fixed it no problem...thanks

by:

Wheels, tires and fenders look great on our camp trailer. Excellent communication, tracking and everything arrived in great condition. Highly recommend!

by:

Used these on a 10k flatbed trailer; the last open set of lug nuts had a couple rust over and had to replace studs. I wanted something with closed ends and lots of them. Local auto parts stores had similar parts for just a little more, however I couldn't find enough of them at a time to have them come close to a match. I got all 24 and they're working out well.

Yes, I could have gotten lugs cheaper from other big-name websites. However as I read reviews from those products, the quality was severely lacking.

etrailer.com has good quality parts at a great price.

Comments
One year later and these are just like when I bought them. Great product.

Wheels and tires I ordered for my boat trailer came a couple days early so I was able to make it to the lake this weekend after all. That is a good thing. The wheels, tires and lug nuts all fit fine and appear to be of the quality I expected. I have ordered from etrailer several times and never been disappointed.

by:

I got the 6 and tires wheels but I did not receive any lug nuts?

I bought 26 of these chrome lug nuts from etrailer.com. 24 for 4 wheels with 6 lugs per wheel and a couple of spares. All of the lugs nuts are very consistent in quality and finish, and all went on the lugs smoothly. What more can you ask for? Looks to be a great product at a very reasonable price.

by:

I purchased a new set of lug nuts to finish off the wheels on our 1990 Fleetwood Prowler Regal travel trailer. I had repainted the rims and installed new tires, and polished the beauty rings and center caps, but the original lug nuts looked shabby.
A major name-brand auto parts store in our area wanted more for the same lug nuts I purchased here.
I think they look great, and they installed without any problems.

by:

These chrome lugs were just what I needed to dress up my box trailer wheels. Great price too.

Comments
Still looks like new.

by:

The quality of these chrome acorn-style lug nuts appear very good, but time will test the chrome finishing. Too often these products become rusty too soon. I reckon a follow up is called for in about 10 years.

I ordered these lug nuts to replace perfectly good stock lug nuts; my trailer is a 2020 model. This style of lug nut covers the wheels stud, protecting it from weathering, and the appearance is nice bonus.

by:

Solid replacement for standard trailer lug nuts. Good to have one or two on hand just in case one goes missing on long hauls.

by:

I ordered new stainless steel lug nuts to replace the ones that came standard on our new travel trailer. The lug nuts that come on it are the ones with the aluminum cap and strip under pressure when torquing the lug nuts. Very speedy shipping and they fit perfectly. Very happy with etrailer.

by:

Just chromed lug nuts, but look fine.

by:

To dress up my pull-behind motorcycle trailer, I purchased these wheels, tires and lugnuts. The trailer looks awesome and tows perfectly. I would definitely purchase these again.

Comments
After a year, wheels still look good. I don’t tow this trailer very often, and it it garage kept. But when I do, these tires do their job perfectly.

Great product’s from etrailer as always. Fast shipping, wasn’t expecting arrival until next week.

by:

Just me asking my new trailer look it's best. Lug nuts was the finishing touch with the chrome wheels.

by:

William B was very helpful correcting my order. I ordered the wrong size trailer rim on line and on a Sunday. I contacted etrailer the first thing Monday morning and after a short hold William B was able to assisit in canceling my original order and placing my corrected/new order!!! I was very please in fact my order arrived a day eariler then scheduled... Because of my experience with etrailer I ordered a set of trailer tires. The local shops were unable to provide the tires I wanted.

by:

These lug nuts fit my Lippert 7000 lb axels. These seem to better better than the original lug nuts.

by:

I am very pleased with etrailers fast customer service and because I'm a "instead gratification" kinda guy, I was extremely happy with the speedy delivery. Thank you Erica at etrailers for making my order exactly what I wanted.
Again thanks!

Sent immediately, got in a couple days. Support was great helping me identify the tires needed on a very old trailer with mismatched tire sizes.

by:

as always, everything I get from etrailer.com is quickly delivered and is high quality. Add good prices and you'll understand why I always check etrailer.com first for my trailer parts.

by:

These bolts were the right touch to the 15” rims. You can access them without scratching the rims

by:

These are the best and durable Lug Nuts to use. They are solid and makes it much easier to break them loose when you have to change a tire. Highly recommend so you don't get stuck on side of road.

by:

Yes I did receive my order today and everything was packaged well and in excellent shape.

I have attached some photos of the 14" Lionshead Jaguar wheels, chrome centercaps and chrome lugnuts mounted on my 2011 Rockwood Mini Lite, as well as the Adco spare tire cover. Both look great!

by:

Never received my lug nuts !

  • What is the Difference Between Trailer Wheel Lug Nut # 12CLN and # 12CLN-L
The only difference between the 1/2 Inch Lug Nut, # 12CLN and # 12CLN-L is the length of each. Both are bulge style which means they have a 60 degree tapered end. The inside depth of 12CLN is 1-1/4 inches. The inside depth of 12CLN-L is 1-3/4 inches.

  • Long 1/2 Inch Chrome Lug Nuts for a 2005 Hitchhiker 5th Wheel Trailer
Since your old lug nuts were 2 inches long, I recommend using # 12CLN-L which has an overall length of 1-15/16 inches, close enough to call it a 2 inch long lug nut. I do not recommend the use of an impact wrench, not because of the damage like you have experienced but because the lug nuts should be torqued to a specific amount. For a 1/2"-20 it should be 75 to 85 foot pounds.

  • Length and Inside Depth of the Chrome Trailer Wheel Lug Nut - 1/2 Inch # 12CLN
The overall length of the Chrome Trailer Wheel Lug Nut - 1/2 inch, item # 12CLN, is 1.364 inches. The overall depth of the lug nut from the farthest out part of the lugnut to the deepest point inside is 1.25 inches. We also have the Chrome Trailer Wheel Lug Nut, # 12CLN-L, which is 1.882 inches overall length and 1.70 inches deep.

  • What is the Overall Diameter of Trailer Lug Nut # 12CLN
I went out to the warehouse and pulled lug nut # 12CLN. The widest part of the cone measured 0.90 inches so just under 1 inch in diameter. I have included a picture showing the measurement for you.

We offer lug nuts in a range of sizes and thread pitches that can be seen on the linked page. I checked an online manual for Heartland travel trailers but this did not include specifics about the lug nuts to be used. These may vary depending on the specific model of trailer you have so its best to check your owner's manual to confirm the correct lug nuts to use and also their correct torque value. We offer lug nuts in 1/2-inch, 5/8-inch, 7/16-inch and 9/16-inch diameters. For example,...

  • Can Boat Trailer Use Open and Closed Lug Nuts
Some boaters actually swear by closed lug nuts as in general water is kept away from more of the wheel stud. With either setup though you still risk having problems that might cause a lug to break but I wouldn't necessarily blame your issue on the lug being closed. Whichever you are more comfortable with will work fine as there isn't a specific style that absolutely should not be used on a boat trailer.

  • What Would Cause Threads of Wheel Stud to Be Unusable After Using Washer Method to Install Them
It sounds like you are using a lug nut on the wheel stud # 165995 that has either damaged threads or a similar but different thread size which is destroying the stud. My brother had this happen to him once with a car and it took him a while to realize since the threads were pretty close. The size of the lug nuts you'd need to use is 1/2 inch diameter with 20 threads per inch like the # 12CLN.

  • Can Lug Nuts On a Boat Trailer Be Lubricated for Easy Removal
I have never personally put grease on either the lug nut or lug stud but I have heard of others who have without issue. If you were to reach out to the manufacturer they would also say not to put grease on either the lug nut or lug stud but this is mostly just preference. If you clean the lug nut and the lug stud thoroughly beforehand and do not over-torque then you should not have too much issue with removal. • Which Lug Nuts To Use on 17.5" Trailer Wheels
You can't use conical/tapered lug nuts like the # 12CLN on wheels with flat bolt seats; instead you'll want to use a lug nut with a flange like the Flange Wheel Nut - 5/8" # 95188. If you can tell me which wheels you've got and the lug bolt size, I can confirm this is the correct part for you.
