Video Transcript for Ultimate Overview of the Mounting Hardware for 10" Brake Assemblies

Today we're going to take a look at the mounting hardware for 10" brake assemblies. This hardware will allow you to install two trailer brake assemblies to the 4-bolt brake mounting flange on the trailer axle. This hardware is designed to fit the 10" brake assemblies that already have the mounting bolts installed on the assemblies. These will work with electric or hydraulic brakes. It includes everything shown here on the table. It includes eight of the 7/16 by 20 nuts, and they do have a head size of 11/16. Here's a socket that has 11/16.

You can see it fits perfectly. It comes also with the eight lock washers. So, this would be all used to install the assemblies to your axle. That should do it for the review on the mounting hardware for 10" brake assemblies.

Great, fast shipping. I am confused because somewhere I read that if you buy the Right and Left set of brakes, the mounting nuts are free. Someone posted they had to buy the nuts. So, I ordered them too. P.S. they didn't send any extra nuts.

It took me awhile to put the new self-adjusting brakes on the trailer. But, these nuts and lock-washers worked great.

by:

Replacing Trailer brakes very easy with your brake assemblies. Thanks

by:

The shipping was fast. I am expecting a second order I made for tires on aluminum rims in a couple days. I am looking forward to receiving them to upgrade my new trailer.

by:

After some difficulty removing the nuts on the back of the brake mounting plate, I decided to just order new hardware and toss the old nuts and washers away. Replacement hardware arrived within two days, did not delay re-assy as weather rained. Just a note, I would recommend that e-trailer just include the hardware when you order replacement brake assemblies. 7/16 x 20 nuts are not that common.

by:

The bag of mounting hardware only had the nuts in it. No washers in the bag as the photo indicates. For 16 nuts and bolts, I felt that this was overpriced when I ordered it, but I bought it out of convenience and to save a trip to the hardware store. Showed up without the washers so I had to go to the hardware store anyhow to get the washers. So I ended up paying $14 for 16 nuts that I could have just bought at the hardware store for $1 when I bought the washers. I don't know if the bag I received was packed wrong (no washers) or if the photo on the website was misleading?

Gosh, I am so sorry you ended up having to run to the store - you shouldnt have to do that! The picture is accurate - your bag was missing the washers. I have sent your information to our customer service team to have them contact you about the missing pieces and what we can do to make it right.

by:

Worked good, but I would personally prefer nyloc locking nuts.

by:

Fit perfectly

by:

these arrived fine and as described - these don't appear to be zinc coated - I could not find anything in product description on rust resistance - suppose i will paint.

Worked out fine. Ideally for me these would be stainless for a boat trailer but I ended up painting to protect and should be ok.

by:

Quality of product is good. The wrong size of lock washers were sent which is the reason for the 3 star review. Called customer service to let them know so shipping mistakes were not made in the future. With the old brakes removed, and the trailer on jack stands, I wasn’t going to wait 3 days for a new shipment, so I had to make a trip to the hardware store to complete the installation. Not going to raise a fuss over an $8 mistake.

by:

Appear to be quality metal; matched up to my Dexter axles and hubs, no issues.
Arrived a couple days after the break kits and hubs; caused a small delay but no issue for me since did not need the trailer currently.

by:

As advertised

by:

You'd think this should be standard to come with the brake assembly but it wasn't. I could have reused the existing but these are nice and clean and new.

by:

Great service. Quick shipment on brake assemblies and tires. Competitive pricing. Found myself a new supplier.

by:

I couldn't find this item,in-stock, anywhere locally. I should've got it from etrailer.com fromthe start.

by:

Well, you may not see the actual brake controller in these shots, but I wanted to display just how much etrailer product was used to restore this old trailer. Re-decked the trailer, new wheel bearings, added brakes on all 4 with this brake controller and battery powered emergency disconnect... new rust protection, primer and paint, new lights and wiring all the way around, new wiring harness/box, and new tire carrier. Nearly all product except the decking and paint was from etrailer. the customer support was fantastic, I highly recommend this company!

by:

Excellent quality nuts and washers. If doing brakes, there is no reason to reuse the old mounting hardware!

Everything is great! Just had our Band Boosters order new wheels and tires from etrailer!

by:

I installed the brakes on the front axle of my boat trailer that carries a 21' fiberglass deep hull off shore boat. They work good as long as you have the controls set to the proper amount of gain. Even with the 5000# weight of my boat if I have the gain too high and hit the brakes too hard they will lock up. This is my second set for the same trailer. I found that no matter what you do not immerse them in saltwater. When I am going into saltwater I remove the brakes and put regular trailer hubs on until I am no longer in the saltwater environment. It's a hassle but I have never felt safe with surge brakes.

by:

I’ve been well pleased with the trailer hubs , drums, and electric break assembly and the price was very satisfactory. Made a noticeable difference in in the tow ability of my camper. I’ve recommended this product and etrailer to a number of friends. Will definitely be shopping with you when I need parts.

by:

Ordered brake assemblies for all four wheels on a 3500 lb. 2-axle travel trailer with mounting hardware and heat shrinking wire connectors. Everything was very high quality and assembly took about 45 mins. per wheel. It also shipped in two days so I couldn't be happier about the transaction. Thanks.

by:

New brake assemblies came with hardware so I bought these for nothing because the telephone specialist said I need them.

by:

Never disappointed with etrailer! I changed the electric brakes before, so I knew what to expect. This RV has been in the Fla. swamps for over 10 years, so rusk was dominate on the nuts. A bit of cleaning, penetrating oil and all went well. New wiring, new brakes and everything works great.
Ian W shipped exactly what I needed and shipment arrived on time and well packaged. Hats off to ALL those involved in this process. I'll be back.

by:

Great option if your installing new brake assemblies, don't have to deal with old hardware.

These parts work just fine

by:

the packaging was poor at best. nuts and washers were loose in the box hardly any packaging in the box and because of how it was packaged the insulation on some of the wires was worn away and wires were exposed. I wont be buying from them again unless I absolutely have to.

I understand your frustration with receiving the order in this manner. I will share this feedback with our shipping department and I will have our customer service team reach out to you.

by:

I added brakes on my boat trailer and these rubber brake lines made the install easy. However, I did have to install all the P clips provided plus a few more to make sure the lines would not chaff against the trailer frame.

by:

100% will and have ready reccomended etrailer!! I called because I truthfully had no idea what all I needed so I was hoping an expert would help me. My hold time was long, the recording told me approximately how long and it was accurate. Also, it's three weeks before the Fourth of July and everyone wants something to get road worthy. No big deal.
Once Geoffrey was on the phone I was absolutely blown away. He was patient, understood exactly what I was looking for (even though I didn't) and was incredibly helpful in the phone. He took his time to make sure we were going to have everything we needed to get the job done and get camping. He checked to make sure we were ordering the right size, even when our owners manual was super confusing he assisted in how to figure out exactly what we needed.
Shipping... Wow. We placed our order and less than 13 hours later it had been picked, packaged and was on its way to a shipping facility. We received it 2 days after placing the order at 7pm. We are close, but still, that's incredible!

Completely satisfied with every aspect of this experience.

  • Replacement For Atwood 83000, 83010 Drum Brake Actuator & 10 Inch Free Backing Drum Brakes
So the Atwood 83000, 83005, 83010 brake actuators are obsolete, and Atwood is no longer in business so there isn't a replacement master cylinder. You'll need to replace the whole actuator, and for one like the Atwood with the same 8,000 lb capacity that connects to a 2 inch hitch ball and mounts to a 3 inch trailer tongue, use the following from Demco: - Demco Hydraulic Brake Actuator # DM8609101 I do recommend sticking with drum brakes as there isn't a set of disc brakes for your spindle,...

  • Demco vs. etrailer Hydraulic Dacromet 3,500 lb Trailer Brakes
Hi Ed, In regards to the 3,500 lb Demco Hydraulic Brake Kit # 40716-15 and the Hydraulic Trailer Brake Kit # AKUBRK-35-D, starting with the country of origin, the Demco are made in the U.S. and the opposing brakes (made by AxleTek) are made in China. They are both designed for a boat trailer because of their corrosion resistance, but the better option is the Demco # 40716-15. The reason for that is because they are free-backing brakes, which means you can back up without the brakes engaging,...

Hey Derrick, the good news is yes it does exist. So what you're going to want is the Hydraulic Trailer Brake Kit - Uni-Servo - Free Backing # AKFBBRK-35 for brakes, and the 10" Hub and Drum for 3.5K Axle # AKBD2-545-97 for the hub and drum. This hub and drum has a 10" x 2-1/4" diameter, a 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern, and is designed for 3,500-lb axles. Along with the hub and drums and brakes, you're also going to need the grease seal # 58846, the inner bearing # L68149, the outer bearing...

It is probably worth pulling the assemblies and inspecting them but realistically yes, I would go ahead and replace the brakes. You might as well check out your drums too and make sure they don't have grooves worn in them. Based on what I was able to find, it looks like your 2016 Riverside Retro 195 has 3,500 lb axles. I recommend checking the axle tag to verify this information. Assuming that is correct, you can use the Electric Trailer Brake Kit # AKEBRK-35-SA you were looking at. These...

The bearings and seal are included and it is pre-greased so it's ready to go. For brakes, check out the Electric Trailer Brake Kit # AKEBRK-35-SA. If you can verify that you have 3,500 lb trailer axles then yes the parts you mentioned would be correct for you. The brake assemblies # AKUBRK-35-D are correct, the hardware kit part # BRKH10B would attach them to your spindles, and then for a hub/drum you'd need the # 8-247-50UC3 and you'd be set. Do go to a disc brake setup you would also be needing to replace the actuator/coupler that you have now as it would require a higher PSI rating. The kit you'd want for just the brake components...

So here is exactly what you need: - Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly # AKHD-655-35-K - Lippert Electric Trailer Brakes - 4.4K Lippert Axles # LC66WD - Brake Mounting Hardware # BRKH10B The hub and drum comes with the bearings and seal...

Then reassemble and tighten crown nut down until tight, then back off to where cotter pin slots line up. At that point you should be properly assembled. I have attached a photo of an assembled brake assembly and brake hub for you to compare to. You will see that there is a gap.

Thanks so much for that info, and we can get your boat trailer set up with electric brakes. Since you had an idler hub you will need a hub and drum for electric brakes, and with the bearing numbers you gave, that means you have 3,500 lb axles.
