I welded it to the curt ball mount after aligning it with the ball mount. Very strong!

The friction sway control works great! I added safety wire to the friction adjustment handle to keep it from turning looser when on the road.

This is the third one of these I have purchased since July of last year. I am having a problem with the bracket bending when making normal turns. After researching the product I decided that the sway control bar may have been too tight so I am going to give it one more try. If this does not cure the issue I will not recommend this product. Service from etrailer has been good.

Bought a weight distribution hitch

by:

I bought this damper mount because it was all set and I didn't have to do anything except bolt it on to my hitch bar. It was very simple just follow the direction provided. Remove the ball then position the damper mount and reinstall the ball. The quality of the part was excellent and everything worked as expected.

Still works great! And it’s awesome because after about six months we changed the height so we just took the damper mount off the old draw bar and put it on the new draw bar, perfect.

by:

The sway control bracket was easy to install on the hitch and worked well with the Reece sway control kit for towing our 22FB Airstream to the Ozarks and to Minnesota. A great product.

by:

Have a 26 foot Jayco camper I pull with a Ford F250. This bracket attaches the sway control from the camper to the truck and minimmizes sway

Replaced it with a weight distributing hitch

by:

Necessary purchase if you want to install the Reese Anti-sway bar. Both work together to reduce dangerous sway of trailers.

by:

There is to much gap between the bracket and ball area.nearly a 1/4 inch on each side.

I had a tech at the manufacturer review your photos and he said he sees nothing wrong with the set up. If you have torqued the ball down, then there should be no concern.

by:

The price was right..... the shipping was fast....... the product is AWESOME! I have used etrailer
for well made items that are hard for me to find in my town.

by:

The process of ordering and shipping was great great folks to work with I would suggest them any day.. great job !

by:

Quick, free delivery. All contents in great condition and accurate.

by:

It does what it is intended for.

by:

We added this to our hitch to enable us to use the anti-sway. It does move a bit so I added a simple stainless steel hose clamp clamp to fill the gap. (you cannot see it in the photo)

by:

A bit of space between the hitch mount and the bracket and i'm not sure how that will play out. I'm hoping it will be fine as I don't want to have to go out and get another mount.

Anthony

After ayear of camping the hitch worked well.

by:

Excellent Product and quick shipping, the friction sway control and sway control bracket work perfectly, much more enjoyable pulling my pop up camper on the highway!! Thanks!

by:

Having been a metal fabricator for many years, I was very disappointed that the space left between the downtabs that go over the ball mount was so great. It would have been so easy to make a snug fit. The way it is, there's a quarter-inch gap that may allow this attachment to work the ball loose. I haven't towed with it yet and it may be fine as it is, although, I believe I may have to add a weld on the inside of the gap to make a closer tolerance. All ball mounts are the same width...why not fabricate this part to fit tight over the ball mount? If it was too tight, it would have been much easier to file a little off than it will be to add more metal. I expected a better fit, but then again, I am used to precision fabrication.

Not all ball mounts are the same width, but most are. When torqued down probably, the balls will exert enough clamping force that the ball will not back all the way off or loosen enough to fail. The most the platform could possibly rotate the assembly is around a 14 inch like the gap you have noticed. Not enough to release enough tension on the split washer on a ball to get it to back all the way off. This is not a precision piece because it does not have to be.

by:

I purchased this product along with a sway control bar to mount on my RZR trailer that I pull behind my 26 ft bumper pull travel trailer. We get a lot of wind in Idaho and the light weight trailer would start to fishtail uncontrollably in high winds.
Most of the other brackets for sway control devices either needed to be welded on my hitch or I would have to buy a totally new hitch with the bracket already attached.
This bracket installed easily and etrailer shipped fast so the problem was eliminated quickly. It worked so well that I purchased a second one for my travel trailer as well.

Thanks etrailer and keep up the good work!!!

by:

Excellent adapter. Fit beautifully.

by:

It does what it's supposed to. However I made a sharp turn and the bracket bent. Replaced it with the same bracket and it has worked fine.

by:

Product just as expected.

by:

It is exactly like the one I caused to fail. I had improperly adjusted the tension. This bent and cracked the original unit. The device performed well in eliminating my trailer towing instability. Just don't set it too tight.

Only fair

by:

Excellent product! Fit perfect with the tow ball.

by:

Excellent product and company to do business with.

by:

Heavy duty quality. Looked for a long time before finding this. Sure beats big bulky hitch combinations and I don't need load equalization. Look easier than welding plate that comes with sway kit. etrailer was great about keeping me posted on order status. Although, initially back-ordered, it arrived a couple of days before promised date

Plate has neat clean look. Just purchased new Reese sway control to replace old brand X that didnt take a fall from the tongue too well. Never have had a problem. Good quality for the price

by:

Hitch ball shank not long enough for mount and swaybar bracket.

by:

The two pieces don’t fit. I will have to adjust to make it work

  • Sway Control For 2022 VW Atlas That Cant Use Weight Distribution
While there isn't a way to completely mimic how a weight distribution hitch works, you can use a friction sway control system for a safer way to tow with your 2022 VW Atlas, and you'll also need a bracket that goes over your ball mount: - Reese Friction Sway Control Kit # 83660 - Reese Sway-Control Bracket for 2" Ball Mounts # RP26003 Then to help with any suspension sag, what you can do is add air springs to the coils, the Firestone Coil-Rite Air Helper Springs # F4175.

  • Sway Control Only For a 16 Scamp Travel Trailer Pulled By a 2017 Honda Pilot
As you are not wanting a weight distribution this is going to limit you to either a Friction Sway Kit # 83660 with Sway Control Bracket # RP26003. Or you will need an Electronic Sway Control # 335TSC-1000. The friction sway will require you to take on and off the sway bar. I only recommend having it installed when driving on the highway as maneuvering can actually damage the bar or one of the ball mounts. The electronic use the trailers brakes to control sway by activating either the left...

Hi David, The Curt Ball Mount for 2" Hitches # C45030 is approximately 2-1/2" wide. The Reese Sway-Control Bracket # RP26003 can fit ball mounts that are smaller than 2-5/8" wide so these two components would be compatible with each other.

Hey David, Yes, the Reese Sway-Control Bracket for 2" Ball Mounts # RP26003 would be a compatible match with the Ball Mount Adapter for Convert-A-Ball Cushioned Weight Distribution Shank # BA-1. If you need the hitch ball as well for the sway-control bracket then you can use part # RP58060 for the ball and part # 37201001 for the pin. This bracket is 3/8" thick so you'll want to check if the shank of the hitch ball is long enough to accommodate the increased thickness.

You do have a couple options but the Curt Ball Mount w/ Sway Control Tab # D320 is not available in a 10K weight capacity. You can use the similar Curt Ball Mount # C45310 rated for 10,000lbs and weld on a Sway Control Tab # C45822. We do also have the Bolt On Bracket # RP26003 but his has a 1" hole versus the 1-1/4" hole on the ball mount. So you will either need to drill the hole larger or use a 2-5/16" Ball # C40007 and Reducer Bushing # F-2. Then you will be able to mount the Friction...

The instructions for the Reese # RP26003 do not apply to the Curt # D320 so you wouldn't need to follow those rules with this ball mount.

I do have an option that will allow you to use a sway control bar on the left side of a ball mount, however, the Reese Sway Control adapter plate # RP26003 is designed to be used on the right side only. To be used on the left side, this plate would have to be turned upside down and the lip on the bottom of the plate would not allow the hitch ball to be completely tightened to the plate and the lip would interfere with the operation of the sway control bar. If you measure from the center of your hitch pin hole rearward 15-3/4-inches that point will be where the center of the hitch ball hole will be. • Sway Control Recommendation For an Enclosed V-Nose Trailer.
I have a couple of routes that you can go to add sway control to your enclosed trailer. First is the choice I recommend, the Tuson Electronic Sway Control System # 335TSC-1000. This system will connect to your trailer brakes. When it senses sway it will activate the trailers brakes to counteract the trailer sway. Best of all there is no extra parts that you will need to connect on the tongue of your trailer, or sway bars to remove every time you need to backup or drive on tight turning...

The Draw-Tite # 75148 is designed for standard towing only and cannot be used with weight distribution, unfortunately. With that being said, if you can find a camper with a lighter tongue weight, you would be fine to tow with a standard ball mount. If you do end up going with a lighter camper, you can add on the Reese Sway-Control Bracket for 2" Ball Mounts # RP26003 and Curt Friction Sway Control # 17200 for a sway control option if needed. Sounds like you are looking for the mount for the small ball of your friction sway control unit. You have a couple options like the part # D320 which is a ball mount that has the mounting tab attached to the side of the ball mount platform. Yes, the Weld-On Sway Control Tab # C45822 will be okay with a 5-3/4" spread between the hitch ball and the Sway Control Ball # C36BR. The Reese Sway-Control Bracket # RP26003 has a 5-1/2" distance between the center of the bolt holes. The 5-1/2" is the narrowest measurement you want for most applications.

Unfortunately, the Reese # RP26003 wouldn't be compatible with the ball platform of the Gen-Y # 325-GH-12001. However, Curt tells me that the ball platform of the # C45949 Curt Rebellion is about 2-5/8 inches in width, which is the largest width ball platform the # RP26003 is compatible with. The fit will be tight, but it should work.

  • Ball Mount to Use for 6 inch Drop When Using Curt Rockerball
The place to measure on your trailer for picking out correct rise/drop is actually from the bottom of the coupler lip. So since you measured from the top of where the ball fits into the coupler you'd need to subtract about 2 inches from that so you'd have 17 inches. So difference between 23 inches and 17 inches is 6 inches which means you'd need a drop of inches. So since you have a Curt Rockerball that adds 2 inches you'd need a 8 inch drop then. So for that you'd want the part # C45338...

Yes, the Reese Sway-Control Bracket # RP26003 that you referenced will fit with a 2-5/16 inch hitch ball. The confusion may be that this is designed to fit 2 inch ball mounts. That means ball mounts designed to fit 2 inch hitches. As long as the diameter of the shank of the ball is 1 inch this will work fine with it.
