Video Transcript for Reese Fifth Wheel Installation Kit RP30439 Review

Today we're going to take a look at the Reese 10-Bolt Design Universal Installation Kit for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches. Now, these universal brackets will fit most applications. The adapter brackets can be used to ease installation on certain vehicles. These are designed to work with base rails, part number RP58058 that we do sell separately on our website. The base rails is what will sit in the truck bed and provide the necessary attaching points for the 5th wheel trailer hitch. This kit with the adapter brackets and the hardware will attach the base rails to the frame of the vehicle. They are finished with a sturdy black powder coat steel, which will help resist corrosion.

Comes with the brackets, all the hardware, and a nice set of detailed instructions on how to install. That should do it for the review on the Reese 10-Bolt Design Universal Installation Kit for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches.

Reese does not currently have any frame bracket and rail kits available for the 2014 Ram, probably due to the new OEM fifth wheel system. Curt does offer such a kit, part C16427-104, and your Reese hitch will attach just fine. It is best to keep frame brackets and rails of the same manufacturer, but the hitch mounting points where they pin into the rails are standardized. If you have the OEM fifth wheel system, let me know and I can check on the availability of an adpater system.

Your company was GREAT to work with, and sales was easy and hassel free. When I need trailer parts again will use your compant

by:

Excellent quality, clear concise instructions, good price, fast service. What more can I say, except Thank you.

I was moving my 5th wheel hitch from a 2005 Dodge to 2015 Ford. The rail mounting kit for the Ford was complete and installation went smoothly. The kit could use a couple more spacers but it was not a problem as I reused spacers from the Dodge.

I purchased the Reese Universal Installation kit for installing a pickup bed hitch for a 5th wheel camper. The installation went well and I found that I was thankful for the various extra pieces that were provided to allow options for different ways to do the installation. The quality and strength were very good. I'm happy to have purchased this kit.

Thanks for the fast shipping, glad we got it resolved

E-trailer deserves 5 Stars for service, follow up and delivery. Thanks for the great service. As for the installation kit.. Bolts and nuts, fine, but the layout and brackets did not work with my vehicle, a 91 Chevy long-bed Silverado. I follow the instructions for locating the back rail, 30 & 15/16" per instructions. Located the brackets over the sloted 5/8" holes provided in the frame but had to turn the inward to match second holes in rails, could not make them work otherwise. Drilled the pilot holes for front thru front rail with hitch in place, missed front provided slots in frame with bracket by 2". No way in or out, forward or backward to make it work. Planning to have all brackets welded as drilling will not work due to lines ect. Basically the brackets don't work without welding.

by:

This kit works well for transfering existing hitch and rails to new/used vehicle.

Typed into Google the parts I needed to install our 5th wheel hitch...
First up was etrailer...They had the exact part shown in the installation manual for our brand and they shipped out the next day...Wonderful to have a company that has all the parts you need for anything!

by:

Everything was fine, ended up selling Trailer, fifth wheel and Kit shortly after I ordered it. I was very happy with the product, the communication and the receiving from your company. I will be ordering from you again in the near future.

by:

The universal 5th wheel mount brackets worked flawlessly on my 1995 Chevy.

by:

Very easy install.
I had zero experience
with this type of install, or fifth wheels in general. I was able to mount my used fifth wheel using this mounting kit on my 97 f250 ccsb, alone in about three hours, without any help or problems.

by:

Purchased the kit for install on my 1986 Ford F-250.

Installer tells me that all included items (hardware, instructions) were as they should be.

Only hiccup was that the FORWARD brackets had to be welded vice bolted, due to the location of the rear uppoer shock tower on the truck. Took him some time, but job looks good, and we'll be testing it today on an hour-long drive to our new spot for the next several months. After that, who knows where life might take us!! Looking forward to seeing some of the Southeast, minimum, taking home right along with us.

The folks at eTrailers.com were great, helping me with questions, as we're new to pulling the rv, even after living in it since early '16.

by:

Product was used on my 2018 F-250 super Duty... awesome fit & ready to pull the camper... instructions were adequate for installation.. definitely recommend etrailer.com for all of your towing needs & hardware..

by:

This kit was complete with all the parts you needed.
I inturn welded the "L" brackets to the frame, with no problems.

by:

Stacey was an awesome help on the phone product was exactly what I had expected, installation was time consuming but worked out great thank you Stacey thank you etrailer be using you all again

by:

this product was as stated every thing was there that was needed to complete the installation was perfect fit and installation went very well

by:

They shipped my order right away. Came with everything they said it would and was very easy to install. I will definitely be ordering again from etrailer. Great job etrailer.

by:

Very fast shipping. The included instructions could have been more user friendly but the videos on the site were excellent. Be sure to look up the videos before you do your install to catch some helpful pointers.

by:

Received promptly in good condition . Easy install

There are a couple options for Reese 5th wheel base rails and installation brackets for your 2012 Ram 2500, one of which does not require drilling into your truck's frame to install, while the other requires drilling into the frame, though it is more economical. - No-Drilling: Reese Quick-Install Custom Outboard Installation Kit with Base Rails for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches Item # RP56011-53 - Drilling: Reese Semi-Custom Base Rail and Installation Kit for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # RP30035-023 (Note:...

  • Recommended 5th Wheel Rails and Bracket Kits for a 2015 Ford F-150
Yes, you can but the manufacturer's recommend not mixing up brands of rails and brackets. Depending on how old they are could also make them incompatible with your 2015 Ford F-150. The mounting holes in the rails may not line up with where the brackets mount on the frame. Another issue is you will need new hardware to attach the rails to the new brackets. The Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Bracket Kit for Ford 150 item # C86WR is what you will need if you have Curt rails. This would give you...

What you will need for the 2011 Dodge Ram 2500 is Reese Quick-Install Custom Bracket Kit, # RP58186, that you have referenced. This bracket kit is designed for use with the Reese Universal Base Rails and Installation Kit, # RP30035. Since you already have rails, you will just need # RP30439 (which is the universal kit without the rails) and # RP58186. You will also need Replacement Hardware Kit, # RP58430, to attach the rails to the new brackets. I have included installation details for...

  • Fifth Wheel Bracket Kit that Could be Used for 2002 Dodge Ram 2500
Hey Travis, so we have several different options for fifth wheel bracket options but since we can't recommend mixing brands between the bracket and rail kits I would need to know what brand rails you have to recommend a bracket kit. If you had the very common Reese rails you'd need the bracket kit part # RP30439.

On your 2003 Ford F-250, if it has a gross vehicle weight of 8,500 pounds or less then from the rear edge of the bed to the back of rear most rail it is 29-1/4 inches. Below-bed systems provide complete access to your truck bed when the hitch is removed—there are no rails that remain inside like there are for the above-bed systems.
