These are pics of RP3344 installed on my 2011 Dodge Ram. The hitch is still not perfect. I need two more inches of drop to have the trailer level. It is inclined up as it sets on the ball rather than flat. Not e the truck is real close to level.

The eTrailer team was very helpful to work with!

Outstanding service and communication. I called and told the customer service person what i needed in a drop down shank. He reviewed and confirmed my measurements. Item was in stock and easily attainable. They pulled item and shipped it within hours.
etrailer price gaurantee is REAL! I found same item for less money. I followed instructions on providing proof. Almost immediately etrailer credited my account for the difference plus some. Just great service and communication all around. Well done etrailer.

Solidly built. I needed a hitch with more drop and range, this one worked perfect.

Comments
Going to Yukon Denali XL with larger wheels and a through-the-bumper hitch vs. Under the bumper a hitch with more was necessary. This one has alot of adjustments available for that perfect tow height and is built like an anvil. It works!

I needed to replace the Hitch Shank to better accommodate our new/used Airstream and F150 truck. I had chosen the same brand as the stabilizer hitch I had but that part, unknown to me, was on a long lead time. George at e-trailer noticed this and contacted me with the delayed delivery information but also make 2 recommendations that could be delivered in a few days. I choose one, placed the order, cancelled the previous order (thanks to Mackenzie) and it arrived a couple days later and it was exactly what I needed. I am now able to make a trip this weekend for a few days to a nearby park in difference to winterizing the trailer and putting it away for the season. I consider this excellent service. Thanks to George and Mackenzie. And to all with whom I did not communicate who got the part to me. Cheers

Without a doubt, first calss products and second to none when dealing with customer service.

The customer service is what keeps me coming back to E-Trailer. Karen did the math so I could order the right drop shank (this one). It is just what I needed and works flawlessly. Thanks again Karen, I appreciate your time and attention.

by:

Exactly what I needed to drop the weight distribution hitch for my new 4X4. Looks like a good quality shank and the free shipping makes it an even better deal.

by:

Good solid product. The box it shipped in was trashed as was the brake controller box that was also inside. Not the best packaging but oh well. E Trailer is still a great source and I would definitely use again.

  • How to Determine the Correct Drop for a Weight Distribution Shank
I have attached a help article on how to determine the rise or drop you need for a ball mount. Basically, you will want to park your truck and trailer on flat ground. First, measure from the ground to the top of the trailer hitch receiver opening. Next, measure from the ground to the bottom of the trailer coupler. If the trailer hitch receiver opening is taller than the bottom of the trailer coupler, then the difference between the two measurements is the amount of drop you will need in...

  • Reese Weight Distribution Shank Recommendation for a System That Needs 6-1/2 inches of Drop
Based on the dimensions you gave for your truck's hitch height and the height of the bottom of the coupler of your trailer you need about a drop of 6-1/2 inches. The Reese Shank part # RP3344 that you referenced has a maximum drop of 6-3/8 inches when used in the lowest position with a round bar setup or 6-1/8 when used with a trunnion system. That would be almost exactly the drop you would need so this shank would work very well for you and will allow you to tow your trailer level. I...

  • Reese Weight Distribution Shank # RP3344 Recommendation for a 2001 Dodge 2500 Quad Cab
Since you need about 11 inches of drop the Reese Weight Dist Shank # RP3344 that you referenced would be a good choice for you as it has 11 inches of drop. I attached a review video on how to measure for the right amount of drop with a weight distribution system. I also attached an FAQ article on weight distribution systems for you to check out.

  • Choosing Weight Distribution Shank with the Correct Rise or Drop
To choose the correct rise/drop needed for weight distribution shank, you will need to determine the height of the trailer coupler when it is level. If the top of the trailer hitch receiver is higher than this measurement (which is most likely the case with your Suburban) you will need a shank that offers a drop equal to the difference. I have linked to a help article that shows how to measure for the rise or drop needed, as well as link to a video showing how to measure for a weight...

  • Can a Reese Weight Distribution Shank be Used with a Curt Weight Distribution Head
In terms of compatibility, it depends on which components of a weight distribution system you are referring to. For example, Curt spring bars will not fit in a Reese head nor will Reese bars fit in a Curt head. But, if you are talking about the shank, a Curt or Reese head will fit each others shank. The holes on a Reese shank, # RP3344, are spaced the same as those on a Curt shank; 1-1/4 inches on center.

  • How To Choose New Weight Distribution System Shank for Lifted Truck
In order to choose a new weight distribution system shank you need to measure your rise/drop requirements just as you would when selecting a ball mount. This measurement is from the ground to the bottom of the coupler lip on the trailer while level and then from the ground to the top inside edge of the receiver tube on the vehicle. The difference will give you the correct rise/drop. The Reese Weight Dist Shank part # RP3344 for example offers up to a 7-5/8" drop. I have attached a full...

  • Recommended Weight Distribution Shank for Truck and Trailer 9" Apart
It sounds like you need a 9" drop for your weight distribution shank. I have attached a list of all options below. You will need to know what size hitch you have as well as whether or not your system uses round or trunnion springs bars in order to find the correct one. The Reese Weight Dist Shank part # RP3344 offers the most drop for a 2" hitch.

  • Recommended Drop Weight Distribution Shank for Use with a EAZ Elite Weight Distribution System
The bolt hole diameter and vertical spacing of a weight distribution shank is fairly universal across different brands. However, in order to be sure the EAZ Elite system you have now uses this same top to bottom bolt hole spacing then you will need to do some measuring. As long as the distance between the vertical bolt holes on your shank is 1-1/4" apart and the holes are 3/4" diameter then I recommend the Reese Weight Dist Shank part # RP3344 which offers up to 8-5/8" of drop. • How to Choose the Correct Weight Distribution Shank Rise or Drop
To determine what kind of rise or drop you need in your Weight Distribution (WD) shank you first need to measure from the ground to the top of the inside of the hitch receiver on your 2002 Ford Excursion, and then from the ground to the bottom of your trailer coupler. Please be sure that both vehicles are on level ground and your trailer is sitting level. • Weight Distribution Shank For Truck With 6-Inch Lift Using Equal-I-zer Weight Distribution
I went to our warehouse and matched an Equal-i-zer 10K head to a couple shanks for you. The shank I recommend is the Reese Weight Dist Shank, part # RP3344. When the head is placed in the bottom holes the distance from the ball platform on the head to the top of the shank that slides in your hitch is 8-1/4 inches. That is a little more than the 7 inches you said you needed at minimum. The holes are spaced 1-1/4 inches apart so the next distance form ball platform to the top of the shank...

  • Will Reese Weight Dist Shank Bolt Hole Spacing Match Up with Older Head Unit
The Reese Weight Dist Shank # RP3344 is 2" square and the bolt holes are 1-1/4" apart on center so as long as your 1980s weight distribution head meets the 2" width spec it sounds like you'll be just fine, although you'll only have 1 bolt hole's worth of adjustment since your bolt hole spacing will span 3 bolt holes. • Is Drop Shank Needed with 2017 Dodge Ram 2500 Towing with Pro Series WD System
Whether or not you need a longer drop shank with your Pro Series weight distribution system part # 49570 depends on your trailer coupler and hitch height more than anything. You need to determine how much drop you need and compare that to what the # 49570 is capable of. This system can do a drop of up to 2 inches. My technical contact at Reese confirmed that using a properly-rated and -installed weight distribution/sway control system such as the Reese Dual Cam should provide some reduction in trailer sway. You are correct that the sway you are experiencing when towing with your lifted Ram 2500 with 37-inch tires could be a result of the altered geometry in the tow vehicle, in particular the higher center of gravity.
